HALPro Modem Installation
This procedure describes how to install the HALPro Modem, into the HAS-QN Series Automation
Server. The HALPro Modem allows for the usage of household phones and an automated
answering system, with the HALPro product.
To install the HAL Modem into your HAS system, perform the following steps:
NOTE: Do not insert or remove components forcefully. To avoid component damage due to static
charge, please ensure you discharge the Modem by touching to a ground point prior to handling.
1. Remove the two screws holding the cover onto the chassis (see Figure 1).
2. Remove the retaining screw holding the PCI riser card /backplate assembly to the chassis.
This screw is located on the top of the chassis (see Figure 2).
3. Gently remove the PCI riser card/backplate assembly from the main board.
4. Locate the PCI expansion card slots on the PCI riser card (see Figure 3).
5. Remove the shunt (if any) from the upper slot (see Figure 4).
NOTE: Do not unplug any cables connected to the PCI riser card.
6. If there is a standard PC bracket attached to the modem card, remove it by unscrewing the
two screws on the back of the card. Do not discard these screws (see Figure 5).
7. Note the screw post on the inside of the PCI riser/backplate assembly (see Figure 6).
Remove this screw and place it to the side for later use.
8. Insert the modem card into the upper PCI slot on the PCI riser assembly.
9. Insert one of the retained screws (see step6 and step 7) through the mating hole in the
modem and into the post of the PCI riser/back plate assembly (see Figure 7).
10. Reinsert the riser card assembly into the main board (insert into the far right PCI slot on
the motherboard (see Figure 8).
11. Reinstall the screw on the back of the chassis, which holds the PCI riser/backplate in place
(see Figure 2).
12. Replace the cover on the HAS and reinstall the two screws removed in step 1 (see Figure 1).
