ScreenBeam 1200 with Intel Unite
Deployment Guide
Version 1
Table of Contents
1. Intel Unite Solution Terminology & Definitions
Enterprise Server– The PIN service running on the server that assigns and resolves PINS, provides download pages to
Clients, and provides the admin portal for configuration.
Hub – The ScreenBeam 1200 that is connected to a display in a conference room running the Intel Unite application.
Plugin – A software component that is installed on the ScreenBeam 1200 which extends the functionality of the Intel
Unite solution.
Client – A device (Windows PC, Mac PC, iPad, Android or Chromebook) used to connect to the Hub.
2. Intel Unite Solution Requirements
2.1 Enterprise Server Requirements
The enterprise server can be installed on a physical machine or run as a virtual machine. The server provides the PINs, resolves PIN issues, provides monitoring and alerts, and allows IT to manage the Unite solution.
NOTE: The IIS web server and Microsoft SQL database server can be installed on separate machines.
Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or later
Microsoft Internet Information Services with SSL enabled. This will require a trusted web server certificate with an internal or public root of trust
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 or later (Recommend latest patch)
Microsoft SQL Management Studio
Microsoft .NET 4.5 or later
Intel Unite Enterprise Server software version 3.0 PV or later
4 GB RAM
64 GB available Solid State Drive (SSD) storage
2.2 Hub Requirements
The Hub requires network setup to collaborate with the Enterprise server.
Windows 10 Pro Enterprise
Microsoft .NET 4.5 or later
Intel Core ™ i5-5300U vPro System
8 GB RAM
64 GB available SSD storage
2.3 Client Requirements
The Intel Unite software is installed on end users’ systems. The application allows users to connect to the Hub to perform wireless display.
For Windows:
Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 RS1 or RS2 with latest patches applied
For iOS:
Mac PC OS X version 10.10.5 or higher:
IOS iPad version 9.3 or higher:
For Chrome and Android:
Chromebook any version
Android for Phones and Tablets version 5.1 or higher
2.4 IT Considerations and Network Requirements
Hub and Client installation should be managed using your IT department’s established process for software distribution. To ensure reliability, it is strongly recommended that the Hub uses a wired network connection.
This will prevent wireless bandwidth saturation, especially in congested areas.
Another consideration is that you will need to allow the Intel Unite software to accept incoming connections.
This may require you to add an exception to the firewall installed on the Hub. Please contact your firewall vendor for specific details on how to create application exceptions.
In a production environment, it is strongly recommended that you use a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) and to setup a DNS service record, which points to the Enterprise Server. This provides the easiest method for
Hub and Clients to locate the Enterprise Server.
As a security upgrade, the application accepts only SHA-2 or greater certificates. This may require you to upgrade the certificates on your web server. Work with your IT Security team to get SHA-2 certificates during setup.
2.5 System Architecture
Corporate Wide Access
Up to 100 of connected users
Local Access or Across Entire Intranet
VPN Connections
Scalable Architecture
