1. INSTALL PACKAGE
Your installation package contains:
1. Zip file with the following folders: Color, Printer Drivers, Firmware and Workbench,
Inhibitor Files, Fargo Firmware Upgrade Guide.
2. This manual, “Printer Swap Manual for Windows 7 32 Bit Fargo Printer”.
Everlink will provide a Dropbox for you to retrieve these files.

2. PRINTER MODEL IDENTIFICATION
There are currently 2 models of the Fargo printers used to personalize chip cards at Everlink, the Fargo Fargo HDPii Plus and the Fargo HDPii. To verify the printer model you are swapping with, see below.

Fargo Printer Compatibility
The Fargo HDPii and HDPii Plus printers are both certified for Everlink’s Instant Card Issuance solution. The printer ribbon and clear film are not compatible and these items cannot be
interchanged.
*Although the ribbon and film cartridge appears the same, they cannot be swapped between the 2 printer models. They can be jammed and a support call is required to remove the jam.

Please ensure the correct ribbon and film are ordered for your printer.

3. DE‐INSTALLATION OF HDPII DRIVER
Note: De‐installation must be done by the Local Administrator user. Do not use the Group
Administrator user for this installation. Copy the complete package to the local C: drive.
We also recommend turning off the Windows update to eliminate potential Windows compatibility issues.
Uninstall HDPii Workbench
Go to the “Control Panel”.
Select “Programs and Features”

Select “Fargo Workbench Printer Utility”.

You will see the following screen followed by a quick small progress bar screen.

Select “Remove” option from the above screen and click on “Next” button.

Uninstall HDPii Printer Drivers
Before continuing with the de‐installation steps, make sure your printer is not in
use.
Go to the “Control Panel”.
Select “Programs and Features”

Click on the “Uninstall” button.
You will see the following screen followed by a quick small progress bar.
Click on the “Yes” button.
If the message given “Printer in Use” is displayed, Acknowledge it and try the uninstall again.You will see the following screen for few seconds.
Now Setup will remove all the HDPii driver components.

Once de‐installation completes, you will see the following screen. Click on the
“Finish” button to finish the setup.
Now unplug the old printer and restart the computer.

Select the “Drivers” tab from the screen.

Check to ensure that the “HDPii printer driver” is not present on the list. If it is still there then the uninstall was not successful. You will need to uninstall it with the Local
“Administrator” system user. If you logged in as an User with Admin rights, the drivers will not be removed properly.
Removing Files
Go to “C:\Program Files” location and remove the “Fargo” folder from the location.

4. INSTALLATION OF HDPII PLUS DRIVER
Note: Installation must be done by the Local Administrator user. Do not use the Administrator
Group User for this installation.
Install Fargo HDPii Plus Driver
Make sure your printer is not connected with the computer.
Go to the installation package and enter into the
“hdpii_plus_windows_driver_2.6.0.15_0” folder.
Right click on the “Setup.exe” file and click on “Run as administrator”.
The following screen will show up.
Once the above process completes, the following screen displays. Click on the next button.

After the driver is installed if a prompt to re‐boot the PC is displayed then click on the “Reboot computer now” and click on the “Finish” button.

Fargo Workbench Installation
Go to the “workbenchsetup_31141” folder provided to you in the installation package.
Right click on the “WorkbenchSetup.exe” file.
Click on “Run as Administrator” and you will see the following screen.

Verifying Firmware and Driver
If the “Fargo Workbench” is not started then start it from Start Menu> All Programs>HID
Global> Fargo Workbench> Fargo Workbench
You will see the following screen.
Select the “HDPii‐HDPiiplus Card Printer” printer from the drop down list.

For Fargo “HDPii‐HDPiiplus Card Printer”, Driver Version should be 2.6.0.15 and
Firmware Version should be 5.3.2 as displayed on the following screen.
If the Firmware Version is different than the 5.3.2.0, please follow the section “Update
Firmware” to update the firmware on the printer otherwise please skip “Update Firmware and
Driver” and continue to next section (Check on table content.).

Update Firmware – (if required)
If the “Fargo Workbench” is started, then close it.
Start the “Fargo Workbench” from the Start Menu> All Programs>HID Global> Fargo
Workbench > Fargo Workbench
You will see the following screen.
If not selected already, select the “HDPii‐HDPiiplus Card Printer” printer from the drop down list.

Select the “HDPii Plus” from the left bottom list, if not selected. Then, tick the “HDPii‐
HDPiiPlus Card Printer”.
Click on the “Select Firmware File”. It will open the file browse window.

Browse the firmware filename “FRW‐00109_HDPiiPlus_FW_v5.3.2.frm” that was placed under “hdpiiplus_fw_v5.3.2” folder from your installation package.

Now, tick the “Only send firmware file”.

Click on “Begin Updating Firmware”. You will see the following screen during update.
It will take several minutes. Once it is done, restart the printer and then restart the workbench. To verify, follow the “Verifying Firmware and Driver” section.

Color Setup
Copy and/or replace the file "DTC550CLR.icm" under the \Color folder in the installation package and place it in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color

Choose “Manual” from Profile Selection option as shown below. Then select each of the
ICC profiles shown and click the Remove button to delete them.
You may see the following message when you removethe “Color Profiles”. Click on
“Continue” button.

This section is user when your HDPii printer is returned and you will be re‐installing it and returning the Everlink Swap HDPii Plus printer. Make sure the printer is not in use.

Administrator Group for this installation.
Install Fargo HDPii Driver
Be sure the printer is NOT connected to the PC the driver is being installed on.
Go to installation package.
Right click on the “HDPii Drv_2305.exe” file and click on “Run as administrator”.

Name” >Printers.

Right Click on the “HDPii Card Printer” and select properties.

Select “Everyone” from the “Group or User names:” list.
Tick the “Print”, “Manage this printer” and “Manage Document” options in the
“Permission” list.
Click on “Apply” and the on “Ok” button.
Note: Based on your local group policies, you may need to add the users in the “Group or User
Names”. For example “test1” is added bellow and assigned with the “Print”, “Manage this
printer” and “Manage Document” options in the “Permission” list.

Old driver installation is completed now. User can continue to produce the card.

7. PALMARIS CLIENT SETTINGS
Log in to your Palmaris login.
Go to “Settings”
Printer Swap Manual
On the settings screen, select the printer and card reader. Then click on Save button.

Please Note: On above screen, for old printer your printer name would be “HDPii Card Printer” and for Fargo plus printer your name would be “HDPii‐HDPiiplus Card Printer”
