SECURITY

Used in combination with RSA SecurID authenticators, the RSA SecurID Appliance is designed to validate the identities of users by requiring the user to present a PIN (something they know) along with their token code (something they have) before granting access to valuable network resources. Each user is assigned a unique RSA SecurID authenticator which generates an unpredictable code every 60 seconds. The RSA SecurID Appliance validates the user’s PIN and token code, confirming the users identity and thereby limiting vulnerabilities associated with easily compromised passwords.

The RSA SecurID Appliance has been engineered to operate on a sole-purpose Microsoft Windows ®

2003 operating system which is designed to limit vulnerable entry points by providing embedded firewall protection, disabled non-essential components & services, a hardened TCP stack and limited group / user sharing options.

EASY TO DEPLOY AND MAINTAIN

The RSA SecurID Appliance is designed so that a customer can turn it on and be up and running in as little as 15 minutes. The primary setup is managed via a web-based graphical user interface where the administrator is guided through a series of instructions to initialize the date and time, set the administrator password, configure the appliance host name and IP address, install the license, import token records, assign the administrator token and test and enable authentication.

A web management Interface, designed to perform common administration functions, such as adding or deleting users, is also included. Common tasks that can be managed via the web interface tool include adding users and assigning tokens, installing and configuring agents, viewing the activity monitor, viewing system details and specifying the location of backup files.

The configuration setup and web management Interface help reduce startup and ongoing management costs and can significantly reduce the system’s total cost of ownership.

AN APPLIANCE TO MEET YOUR NEEDS

The RSA SecurID Appliance has been designed with choice and organizational preferences in mind; it can be easily configured to meet varying business needs.

Large Enterprises. The RSA SecurID Appliance can scale to support large groups of internal users.

• Supports up to 50,000 users

• Provides a choice between Base License (1primary,

1 replica) or Enterprise License (1 primary, up to 10 replicas in a single realm and up to 6 realms)

• RSA Deployment Manager software is included with an

Enterprise Appliance License to simplify and manage token deployments.

• Provides cost-effective deployments through the seamless operation between the RSA Authentication Manager

(primary) and the RSA SecurID Appliance (replica) which is easily installed at remote locations with less IT Staff

Smaller Organizations. The RSA SecurID Appliance can also meet the needs of smaller organizations through pre-configured, fixed-price user solution bundles to support 10, 25,

100, 150 and 250 users. Each bundle consists of:

Microsoft ® Windows ® 2003 operating system and RSA ®

Authentication Manager software pre-loaded. This includes a 12-month hardware warranty.

• Support for 1 primary plus 1 replica for high-availability applications

• RSA Authentication Manager Base Edition license

To complete the order the end user must simply choose their preferred maintenance package (RSA SecurCare ® Standard or

RSA SecurCare Extended.)

APPLIANCE CONVERSION KIT

Beginning in March 2006, RSA is offering a conversion program to current software-based RSA SecurID solution customers who understand the ROI and advantages of an appliance solution. The program is available for both enterprise and small-to-mid-size customers, offering fixed-price appliance hardware and a new RSA Authentication Manager software license. RSA also provides detailed procedures for migrating data from the Authentication Manager to the

Appliance.

The RSA SecurID Appliance is designed to interoperate with many of the major network infrastructure and operating system products on the market—including more than 300 products from more than 200 vendors—providing the organization with maximum flexibility and investment protection.

Through the RSA Secured ® strategic partner program (RSA

SecurID Ready ® ), leading vendors of remote access products,

IP/Sec and SSL VPNs, firewalls, wireless network devices, web servers and business applications have built RSA SecurID compatibility into their products. Products from industry leading companies such as Cisco, Juniper, Microsoft, Citrix and others have been tested and certified, enabling the solution to operate in nearly any environment. For special situations, a multi-threaded agent API lets administrators build custom authentication agents.

ROBUST, COMPLIANCE ENABLING SOLUTION

The RSA SecurID Appliance logs all administrative actions and all user authentication activity and provides robust reporting capabilities to help corporations comply with industry and government regulations. It includes report templates that can be easily tailored to administration needs, including activity, exception, incident and usage summaries.
