IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Read and keep these instructions.
• Heed all warnings and follow all instructions contained within this manual.
• Do not use this unit near water.
• Clean only with dry cloth.
• Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
• Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
• Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
• Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
• Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
• Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. 70V speaker terminals as electric shock may result.
• Ensure that the safety ground terminal is connected to a proper ground. Never connect the ground to a gas pipe, as a severe explosion and/or fire may result.
• Be sure the installation of this product is stable, avoid slanted surfaces as the product may fall and cause injury, property damage, electrocution and/or fire.
• Note when the unit is turned off it is not completely disconnected from the wall AC power outlet. Do not open the cover unless the device is unplugged from the wall AC power outlet.

Introduction:
Congratulations and thank you for purchasing the Factor Electronics PRO-SUB-12A.
The Factor Electronics PRO-SUB12A is a professional active sub-woofer designed to augment low frequency audio in homes, theaters, recording studios and commercial
3 audio systems. The PRO-SUB12A extends the low frequency range of any audio system below 40Hz. Add the PRO-SUB12A to your existing speaker system to enjoy powerful, controlled low bass that can be tailored to compliment practically any stereo, surround sound, or distributed audio system. The PRO-SUB12A provides some unique features like
6 x M10 fly points that allow the PRO-SUB12A to be hung/flown from ceilings and trusses.
This is especially useful in restaurants, bars, fitness centers, retail stores and community centers with truss /open ceilings. The PRO-SUB12A can be concealed in the ceiling while providing excellent low frequency extension.

1. Speaker Level Inputs:
The PRO-SUB12A can be connected to your system multiple ways. Connect the speaker level outputs from your amplifier to the L/R speaker level inputs on the PRO-SUB12A.
If you are using a mono amplifier you can connect a single mono speaker level signal to the L (left) speaker input. The PRO-SUB12A speaker level inputs will accept signals from
4/8ohm stereo amplifiers and also 25/70volt mono commercial amplifiers.
(TIP) When using a mono 25/70V commercial amplifier use the 4ohm amplifier output to connect the PRO-SUB12A and run your 25/70V speakers from the 25/70V amplifier outputs.
The PRO-SUB12A will not load down or lower
The reflected Impedance to your commercial
Amplifier. This can provide better bass response.
2. Speaker Level Outputs:
When connecting the PRO-SUB12A to an amplifier speaker level outputs it is possible to use the internal crossover built into the
PRO-SUB12A to roll off low frequency's to your main left/right stereo speakers. This can produce a cleaner tighter sounding system. This also eliminates possible phase cancellations (dips) and spikes in frequencies where both the
PRO-SUB12A and you main left/right speakers are trying to produce the same lower frequencies
EXAMPLE: Connect the L/R speaker outputs
From your stereo amp to the PRO-SUB12A
Speaker level inputs. Now connect the
PRO-SUB12A speaker level outputs to your main
L/R speakers. Set the FREQ control to approx
80Hz. Now the PRO-SUB12A will produce
Frequencies from 80Hz and below and your main
L/R speakers will produce frequencies from 80Hz and above.
(TIP) Check the rated frequency response of your main L/R speakers and look at the frequency graph (if available). Speakers may be rated down to
40Hz but may start to roll off steeply after 80-100Hz.
Set the FRQ control to the point where the frequencies of your main L/R speakers roll off. This will produce the best results.

3. Line level Inputs:
The line level inputs are unbalanced -10dB stereo RCA jacks. Connect the line level outputs from your mixer, receiver (sub out), or pre-amplifier here. When using a mono output connect to the LEFT input only.
4. Line Level Outputs:
The line level outputs are unbalanced -10dB stereo RCA jacks. Connect the line level outputs to your stereo amplifier, or another sub-woofer When using a mono output connect to the LEFT output only.
5. Auto ON/OFF Switch:
With this switch in the OFF position the RCA-
OUT jacks will pass full frequency audio fed from the RCA-IN jacks. With this switch in the
ON position the internal crossover will affect the
RCA-OUT signal. Set the FREQ control to your desired crossover point. The PRO-SUB12A will produce the frequencies below the crossover point and the RCA-OUT jack will pass all frequencies above the crossover point.
This becomes a “High Pass” and a “Low Pass” filter.
Example: With a simple 2.1 setup. I have read the specs on my two front L/R speakers and determined that their frequency response is 100Hz-20kHz.
Set the FREQ control to 100Hz, set the AUTO
Switch to ON. Now connect an RCA cable from the LINE OUT RCA jack to the amp that will be powering my main L/R speakers.
with this setup the PRO-SUB12A will produce the frequencies below 100Hz and the main
L/R speakers will produce frequencies from
100 Hz- 20-kHz. [email protected]

6. Phase 0-180 Degrees:
0 Degrees = the input signal will be in phase with front surround speakers. 180 degrees the input signal will 180 degrees out of phase from front surround speakers. When the
PRO-SUB12A is positioned on the same wall as your front speakers keep the PHASE switch set to 0 degrees. When the PRO-SUB12A is positioned on the opposite wall from your front speakers set the PHASE switch to 180 degrees.
7. Power On LED:
When the main power switch is ON this LED will be green.
8. Ground Lift Switch:
The ground lift switch helps eliminate audio hum that can be caused by ground differentials between different pieces of equipment connected together in the same system. Ground hum is generally 60Hz hum which is easily noticeable when the system is turned on. Press the ground lift switch to minimize or eliminate the hum.
9. Gain:
This is the input level control. Adjust the input level control to achieve the correct system level
In relation to the other speakers in the system.
Always pay attention to the signal limit LED.
If the signal limit LED is flashing your input level
Is reaching 0dB. If the gain control is set too high
The amplifier will be over-driven. This can damage the amplifier. Keep you input gain as low as possible while achieving your desired sound pressure level.
10. Signal Limit LED:
When the input signal exceeds 0dB the on-board clip limiter will automatically be engaged. The clip limiter will limit the input signal to avoid overloading the amplifier. If the Signal Limit LED flashes momentarily the input is within a safe operating level. If the signal limit LED stays lit solidly adjust the input gain control down. [email protected]

11. Frequency 40Hz-120Hz:
The Frequency adjusts the low pass filter for the sub-woofer amplifier. The PRO-SUB12 will amplify frequencies below this controls setting.
The PRO-SUB12A is designed to amplify low frequencies which can not be reproduced by most stereo or surround speakers. Example: check the frequency response of the main left and right speakers you are using. If the stated frequency response is 100Hz to 20kHz, set the
FREQ control on the PRO-SUB12A to 100Hz.
The PRO-SUB12A will amplify frequencies below
100Hz which will extend the frequency response of your system.
12. AC Power Input Connector:
Connect the supplied AC cable here and connect to a 110V North American AC wall jack.
13. Fuse:
The PRO-SUB12A is switchable between
110-120V North American AC and 220-240V
European AC. Use the following fuses:
110-120V = 3amp (AL) 250V AC
220-240V = 5amp (AL) 250V AC
14. Power:
Applies power to the amplifier. The amplifier will remain in standby mode until an input signal is present at the IN RCA or speaker input jacks.
15. Voltage Selector:
110V-220V: This should be set to 110V for
North American power. The PRO-SUB12A
Amplifier is compatible with 110V-60Hz North
American power voltages and European
220V-50Hz power voltages. You should never need to adjust this switch once it is set to the correct power setting.

PRO-SUB12A Installation & Setup
The PRO-SUB12A provides several different mounting options:
1. Traditional floor standing:
The PRO-SUB12A provides four large rubber feet for floor standing installations.
The rubber feet help to isolate the sub-woofer from the floor and also keep the sub-woofer from changing positions due to vibrations.
2. Pole Mounting Additional Speakers:
The PRO-SUB12A provide a sturdy metal pole cup
1-3/8” diameter for mounting additional speakers.

3. Wall Mounting (with the optional SPK-WALL-MNT):
The SPK-WALL-MNT can be purchased from your
Factor Electronics dealer and be used to wall-mount the PRO-SUB12A.
4. Hanging / Flying: (with optional Factor M-10 Fly Bolts):
The PRO-SUB12A provides 6 x M-10 fly points on the cabinet for hanging/ flying from ceilings and trusses. There are four fly points on the back of the PRO-SUB12A and two fly points on the top of the cabinet. This provides a variety of hanging positions
Including strait down or angled with multiple angle adjustments.

3. Press the Power switch to the ON position.
4. Play music through your system and adjust the VOLUME control to the desired level.
5. Select the proper PHASE setting based on the following: Sub is in the front of the room
positioned close to the main left/right speakers = 0 degree Phase.
Sub is positioned at the back of the room facing the main left/right speakers = 180 degree phase.
6. Play music through your system and adjust the FREQ control to play the sub-woofer below
the rated frequency response of the main left/right speakers.

Warranty
Factor Electronics amplifiers are warranted to be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of three (3) years from the date of purchase without charge for parts or labor.
This warranty applies only to the original owner. The owners responsibilities are to provide proof of purchase from an authorized Factor Electronics dealer/distributor and transportation to the dealer/distributor the unit was purchased from or Factor Electronics. This warranty does not apply to units that have been subject to misuse, abuse, neglect or improper installation, and does not apply to repairs or alterations made by unauthorized personnel. This warranty specifically excludes responsibility for consequential damage. Retention of your original bill of sale is required to obtain service under the terms of this warranty.
