Discs

• This unit can play DVDs and Audio CDs (including CD-R and CD-RW).

• This unit is designed and manufactured to respond to the Region

Management Information that is encoded on DVDs. If the region number printed on the DVD does not correspond to the region number of this unit, it cannot play that disc.

• The region number of this unit is 1.

• Do not use irregularly shaped discs, such as heart-shaped or star-shaped discs, because they may cause your players to malfunction.

• Do not stick paper, tape, or glue on a disc.

• Do not expose a disc to direct sunlight or heat sources.

• Do not touch the surface of a disc. Handle a disc by its edge.

• Clean a disc by wiping the disc from the center out with a cleaning cloth.

• Remove a disc from your player and store it in its case after playing.

Some playback operations may be intentionally limited by software producers.

Because your players play discs according to the disc contents the software producers designed, some playback features may not be available. Also refer to the instructions supplied with the discs.

Connect to an AC adapter or 12V car power outlet.

Connect the other DVD player to this jack using the AV connecting cable, or connect a monitor, TV, or amplifier to this jack using the included AV cable and an RCA cable (not included).

Plug headphones into this jack. Note: When headphones are plugged in, the built-in speakers are muted.

Rotate to increase or decrease the volume.

You must use the navigation control buttons on the player to navigate through the

To access the player function menu:

Select once to open the main DVD menu. This option works only if the DVD has a main menu.

In the root menu, select FUNC. on the player to open the DVD title menu. This option works only if the DVD has a title menu.

Select to search the chapter, title, or track.

Select to turn subtitles on and off, or select to choose the subtitle language. This option works only if the DVD has subtitles.

Select to display the DVD title information.

Select to enlarge the display image. You can enlarge the image 2, 3, or 4 times the normal size.

Select to choose the DVD audio language. This option works only if the DVD has multiple audio languages.

Select to display information about the disc, such as title, chapter number, track number, and time.

Select to repeat the current title, chapter, or all.

Select repeatedly to slow the playing speed to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, or 1/16 of normal.

Select to return to the main menu.

Select to mute the volume. Select again to unmute the volume.

Select to change the display angle. This option works only if the DVD has multiple display angles available.

Setting up your player

Connecting to AC power

Note

The AC adapter is used to disconnect this device from AC power.

It should not be obstructed OR should be easily accessible during use. To completely disconnect the power, unplug the AC adapter from the AC power outlet.

Cautions

• The AC adapter included with this player is for its use only. Do not use it with other equipment.

• When the player is not going to be used for an extended period of time, disconnect the AC adapter from the wall outlet.

• When the AC adapter is plugged in, the player is not completely disconnected from power, even when the power is turned off.

Plug one end of the AC adapter into the DC IN jack on the side of your player, then plug the other end into an AC outlet.

Plug the included Y-type vehicle power adapter into your player(s) and then into a 12V power outlet.

Installing your player in a vehicle

Loosen the straps of the headrest mount, as shown below, then secure the

DVD player to the mount in the “front” position.

Slide the horizontal straps A and B through the slots on the back of the DVD player, then fold and secure them onto the back of the headrest mount until the Velcro attaches.

Velcro as shown.

Connecting a TV or monitor

You can connect your player to a TV or monitor so you can watch DVDs or view photos on the TV or monitor.

Plug the AV adapter cable (included) into the AV OUT jack on your DVD player.

Plug the connectors on an RCA cable (not included) into the connectors on the other end of the AV adapter cable. Make sure that the colors on the connectors match.

Plug the other end of the RCA cable into the AV jacks on the TV or monitor, making sure to match the colors on the connectors with the jacks on the TV

(or monitor).

Turn your TV or monitor on.

You may have to select the correct input on your TV or monitor.

Using your player

Turning your player on

Slide the ON/OFF switch on the side of your player to the ON position.

The start-up picture (DVD VIDEO) appears on the screen.

After use, slide the ON/OFF switch to the OFF position.

Playing a DVD or audio CD

Notes

• Most DVDs and your player have region codes that help control illegal distribution of DVDs. The region code for your player is 1. You can only play DVDs with a region code of 1

or ALL. The region code for a DVD is printed on the DVD or the DVD packaging.

• This User Guide explains the basic instructions for operating these players. Some DVDs are produced in a manner that allows specific or limited operation during playback. Therefore, these players may not respond to all operating commands. THIS IS NOT A DEFECT. Please refer to the instructions accompanying the specific DVD in question for more information about the options available on that DVD.

• “ ” may appear on the screen during operation. A “ ” means the desired operation is not permitted by the player or disc.

Make sure that your player is connected to power.

Slide the OPEN switch. The disc tray opens.

Place a disc, label side up, in the disc tray, then close the tray. The disc starts playing automatically.

Controlling DVD or audio CD playback

• Press (STOP) once to stop playback. Your player remembers where you stopped. If you press , your player starts playing at the point where you stopped.

• Press (STOP) twice to stop playback. If you press , your player starts playing at the beginning of the disc.

• When player A and player B are connected to each other, press and hold the

(STOP)/AV IN button on player B to switch to AV IN mode.

• Press to pause playback. Press this button again to resume playback.

• Press to fast-forward the disc. Each time you press this button, the fast-forward speed changes from 2 to 4 to 8 to 16 to 32 times the normal speed.

• Press to fast-reverse the disc. Each time you press this button, the fast-reverse speed changes from 2 to 4 to 8 to 16 to 32 times the normal speed.

Title Elapsed–Shows the elapsed playing time for the title.

Title Remain–Shows the remaining playing time for the title.

Chapter Elapsed–Shows the elapsed playing time for the chapter.

Chapter Remain–Shows the remaining playing time for the chapter.

Display Off–Turns off the information display.

Note

The information display automatically turns off if you do not press OK within eight seconds.

Opening the DVD main menu

During playback, press FUNC..

Navigate to MENU, then press OK. If the DVD has a main menu, the menu opens.

Note

Contents of DVD main menus vary from DVD to DVD. Some DVDs only let you start playback from the main menu.

Selecting a viewing angle

Some DVDs are recorded with multiple viewing angles for some scenes. When a scene has multiple viewing angles, the angle icon appears on the screen.

Press SETUP, then set Angle Mark to ON. See “Using the Setup menu” on page 21 for more information.

During playback, the angle display appears showing the current angle and the total number of angles. In the following example, the current angle is 1 and the total number of angles is 3.

Track–Repeats the currently playing track.

Selecting a subtitle language

Some DVDs are recorded with subtitle languages that appear as text on the screen.

During playback, press FUNC..

Navigate to SUB, then press OK. The subtitle display appears showing the current subtitle language and the total number of subtitle languages. In the following example, the current subtitle language is 1 and the total number of subtitle languages is 2.

Press OK one or more times to select a different subtitle language when the display says “press OK to select subtitle language.”

To turn off subtitles, press SUB until Subtitle Off appears.

• The subtitle display turns off if you do not press

• Some DVDs only let you select a subtitle language from the DVD main menu.

Viewing photos

Your can view photos copied as JPEG files to a CD on your DVD player.

Insert the CD containing the photos into the disc tray. Your DVD player reads the CD and starts displaying the photos.

After a picture has been selected, press horizontally and press

Your player has a Setup menu you can use to adjust settings for your player.

General Setup

SUB-OPTIONS

TV Display–Selects the aspect ratio. You can select:

Normal/PS –Select this option when the player is connected to a normal TV (4:3 aspect ratio).

Wide-screen images are shown on the screen, but with some parts cropped automatically.

Normal/LB–Select this when the player is connected to a normal TV (4:3 aspect ratio).

Wide-screen images are shown on the screen with a black band on the top and bottom.

Wide displays the video image full-screen when your player is connected to a widescreen TV

(16:9 aspect ratio).

Angle Mark–If this option is turned on and the DVD you are watching has multiple viewing angles, the icon appears in scenes that have multiple viewing angles.

OSD Language–Selects the language for the Setup menu. You can select English, French, or

Spanish.

Screen Saver–When this option is turned on, your player displays a screen saver when the same image stays on the screen for five minutes.

Last Memory–When this option is turned on and you open the disc tray, your player remembers where you stopped. If you close the tray with the same disc loaded, your player starts playing at the point where you stopped.

OPTION SUB-OPTIONS

Video Setup

TV Type–Selects the TV type. Options are PAL (typically Europe) or NTSC (typically USA). The default is

NTSC.

Panel Quality–Select to adjust the following:

Brightness–Increases the brightness to add more light to dark areas of the picture or decreases the brightness to add more dark to light areas of the picture.

Contrast–Increases the contrast level to adjust the white areas of the picture or decreases the contrast level to adjust the black areas of the picture.

Hue–Increases the color level to add more green to skin tones or decreases the color level to add more purple to skin tones.

Saturation–Adjusts the color saturation.

Preference Setup

Audio–Selects the audio language. If the language you select is not recorded on the DVD, your player plays the default audio language.

Subtitle–Select the subtitle language. If the language you select is not recorded on the DVD, your player displays the default subtitle language.

Disc Menu–Selects the DVD menu language. If the language you select is not recorded on the DVD, your player displays the default language.

Parental–Blocks DVD playback based on ratings. Select this option to set the parental control level.

Options include: KID SAFE, G, PG,PG 13,PGR, R, Nc17, and ADULT. The default is ADULT. The password is pressing FUNC., then (Stop) , then FUNC., then (Stop) , in that order. Default–Reset all settings except the password and parental controls back to the factory default.

Troubleshooting

No power

No sound or distorted sound.

• Make sure that the AC adapter is plugged in and connected.

• Make sure that your player is turned on.

• Adjust the volume.

• Make sure that all cables are inserted correctly into the appropriate jacks.

• Make sure that your player is not paused.

• Make sure that your player is not in fast forward or fast reverse mode.

• Make sure that your player is not too hot. Let it cool for 30 minutes, then try it again.

• Make sure that the headphones are not plugged in.

Cannot fast-forward or fast-reverse through a movie.

• You cannot fast-forward through opening credits and warning information at the beginning of a movie.

• Some DVDs do not allow rapid scanning or skipping of titles or chapters.

• The DVD software does not allow it.

• The DVD does not support the feature (for example the Subtitle feature).

• You entered a title or chapter number that is out of range.

• The DVD may be damaged. Try another DVD.

Disc does not play.

• Make sure that the disc is inserted with the label side up.

• Make sure that the disc is compatible with your player. Your player can play DVDs and audio CDs.

Cleaning your player

Clean the outside of your player with a clean cloth, slightly dampened with water.

Caution

Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners because they may damage your player.

Handling discs

• Do not touch the surface of a disc. Handle a disc by its edge.

• Do not attach paper or tape to the disc.

• Do not use irregularly shaped discs, such as heart-shaped or star-shaped discs, because they may cause your player to malfunction.

• Do not expose a disc to direct sunlight or heat sources.

• Clean a disc by wiping the disc from the center out with a cleaning cloth.

• Remove a disc from your player and store it in its case after playing.

• Some playback operations of discs may be intentionally limited by software producers. Because your player plays discs according to the disc contents the software producers designed, some playback features may not be available.

Also refer to the instructions supplied with the discs.

Cleaning discs

• Before playback, wipe the disc outwards from the center with a clean cloth.

The Distributor* of Insignia branded products warrants to you, the original purchaser of this new Insignia-branded product (“Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original manufacturer of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of your purchase of the Product (“Warranty Period”).

How long does the coverage last?

The Warranty Period lasts for 1 year (365 days) from the date you purchased the Product.
