Daphile Installation Guide

Below you will find brief information for music player. This document describes the installation process and some basic system settings that might be required to make the system usable for music listening. The default installation method assumes the installation target drive will be used completely for Daphile and all existing data will be deleted from it. This method does not support automatic configuration for multiple operating system boot (multiboot). If user wants to use custom drive partitioning and/or configure multiboot, the chapters 8 and 9 should be read first.

Frequently asked questions

Daphile requires a computer with an x86 architecture based processor, at least 512MB of RAM, a network adapter, a bootable storage device with at least 2GB of space, and an audio device.

The recommended way to install Daphile is to download the ISO file, write it to a USB flash drive, boot the computer from the USB flash drive then access the Daphile PC with a web browser. The final installation is done from the web interface.

You can access Daphile's web interface through the IP address of the Daphile PC. If your operating system supports mDNS, you can also use http://daphile.local. You can find the IP address on the Daphile boot screen.

How should the disk be prepared for Daphile installation?

There are three methods. 1. Automatic installation: The entire disk will be used, and existing data deleted. Finalize setup via the web interface (Settings → System Firmware). 2. Disk Clearing: If the target disk is not selectable, it can be erased by selecting the corresponding option during initial setup (using F1). 3. Manual Partitioning: Create two specific Linux EXT4 partitions on one disk, labeled "DaphileBoot" (1 GB) and "DaphileData" (minimum 1 GB, recommended larger for cache and plugins).
