Change your chat settings

Onthenavbar,click
Chat.

Dooneofthefollowing:
• OntheChatListpage,click
• Insideachat,click
Settings.

IntheAliasfield,enteranewalias.Dependingonyourpermissions,youcanchangeyouralias,orchatname,if
youwanttoappearasadifferentname,suchasanickname,tootherchatparticipants.

SelectthecheckboxesforBoldorItalics.

SetanAliasColor.
6.
Ifyouwanttochangethemessageorder,selectNewtoOldorOldtoNew.Ifyouwanttoseenewmessagesonly,
selectNewMessages.Thisrequiresyoutomanuallyrefreshthescreen,toseenewmessagesandremoveallold
ones.Youcanchangebacktoseeallmessages,whichrestoresallmessagesforthatsession,eveniftheywerenot
visiblewhileNewMessageswasselected.
7.
Youcanchangeyoursoundsettingssoyoucanhearasoundwhensomeoneentersthechat,leavesthechat,or
whenthereisanincomingmessage.Selectasoundfromthefollowingdrop-downlists:
• IncomingMessageSound
• PersonEntersChatSound
• PersonLeavesChatSound

Thechat’sarchivestoreseachchatsession,whereyoucanviewitatalatertime.
Thesystemarchivesachatsessiononceallchatmembersleavetheroomoraftermorethan20minutesofinactivity.

Personal and general chats
Therearetwotypesofchats: • Personalchats-Personalchatsareprivateandvisibleonlytouserswhoyouhaveaddedtothechat’sparticipants
list.Personalchatsareidealforkeepingintouchwithfriendsandcolleaguesorforclubsandothergroupswhose
membersdonotshareasingleorgunit.Anyonewiththeproperpermissionscancreatepersonalchatrooms. • General(course)chats-Generalchatsarepublicchatsvisibletoeveryoneenrolledintheorgunitwheretheyare
created.Instructorscancreategeneralchatroomstoincorporatechatdiscussionsintotheteachingofacourse
sincetheyareautomaticallyopentoallusersenrolledinthecourse. Create a general chat
Generalchatsexistwithinspecificorgunitsandareonlyaccessiblefromtheorgunitinwhichtheyarecreated.
Allusersintheorgunithaveaccesstothegeneralchat.Youcancreatemultiplechatsforthesameorgunit,suchas
"MidtermReview"and"FinalReview."Itisagoodideatoenteradescriptiontohelpotherusersidentifythechat,
sincetheymighthaveaccesstootherchatswithsimilarnames.

Create a personal chat
Youcancreatepersonalchatstotalkwithpeersorotherfriendsatyourorganization.Youcancreatepersonalchats
fromanyorgunit,andyoucanaccessthemwithinanyotherorgunit.
Personalchatroomscanonlybeaccessedbyuserswhohavebeenaddedtothepersonalchat’sParticipantList.When
usersareadded,thechatroomdisplaysunderPersonalChatsintheirlistofchats.

Enteradescriptionofthechat.Giveyourchataunique,descriptivenameandprovideadescriptionforitusingthe
Descriptionfieldtohelpusersdistinguishthechatfromotherchatstheyareenrolledin.

• Toaddamembertothechat,clickAddMembers.ToaddusersfromdifferentcourseofferingsclickSelect
DifferentCourse.Selectthecheckboxbesidethenameofusersyouwanttoadd.ClickAdd>Done.
• Toaddapersonalcontact,clickAddPersonalContact.Selectthecheckboxbesidethenameofusersyou
wanttoadd.ClickAdd>Done.
• Todeleteamemberofthechat,ontheChatMemberspage,selectthecheckboxbesidetheusersyou
wanttoremove.ClickDelete>Done.
