Email Appliance
The Sophos Email Appliance serves to protect all Cleveland Community College
employee email accounts from computer viruses, email spam, and other malicious
network threats. Sophos is critical in ensuring these harmful items are prevented before
they reach the email infrastructure.
1. Accessing Sophos Login Page
1. Type https://mail.clevelandcc.edu in to your web browser's address bar to access
Sophos.
Alternatively, Sophos may be accessed by:

2. Sophos Login Page
On the Sophos login page, enter your SecureAuth account username and password.
3. Navigating The Sophos Menu
The Sophos menu is located on the left hand side of the webpage. The following
options are available:
1. Blocked Messages: This selection displays a list of all messages sent to your email
address that have been blocked by the Sophos appliance.
2. Deleted Messages: This selection displays a list of messages that have been deleted
from the Sophos quarantine by the email address owner.
3. Approved Senders: This selection displays a list of senders that have been approved
by the email address owner.
4. Blocked Senders: This selection displays a list of senders that have been blocked by
the email address owner.

5. Options: This selection displays a list of Sophos user options.
6. Help: This selection displays Sophos Help information, including common user
tasks.
7. Log Out: This selection logs out the currently logged in Sophos user.
4. Blocked Messages
The Blocked Messages menu selection displays a list of all messages sent to your
email address that have been blocked by the Sophos appliance. By clicking the
checkbox next to each blocked message, you have the following options:
1. Deliver Message: This option releases and delivers the selected message to your
inbox.
2. Delete Message: This option deletes the selected message from the quarantine.

3. Deliver & Approve Sender: This option releases the selected message from the
quarantine, delivers the message to your email inbox, and adds the sender to the
Approved Senders list.
4. Delete All: This option deletes all selected messages from the quarantine.
5. Deleted Messages
The Deleted Messages menu selection displays a list of messages that have been
deleted from the Sophos quarantine by the email address owner.
1. By selecting the message and clicking the Undelete Message button, the message
will be returned to the Sophos quarantine and will appear in the Blocked Messages list.

6. Approved Senders
The Approved Senders menu selection displays a list of senders that have been
approved by the email address owner.
1. To remove a currently approved sender, select the approved sender and click the
Delete Sender button.
2. To add an approved sender, click the Add Sender button.
3. Type in the email address of the sender you would like to approve. Email domains
may also be entered here.
4. Click the Add Sender button.

7. Blocked Senders

8. Options
The Options menu selection displays a list of Sophos user options. These options
include Mail-Filtering Preferences and Language Preferences.

1. Upon making changes to your Sophos account options, click the Save button.
9. Blocked Message Email Notifications From
Sophos
When the Notify me periodically of messages that have been blocked option is
selected, Sophos periodically sends an email notification to your email inbox that
includes a list of blocked messages. These blocked messages can be released from
the Sophos quarantine while inside your Microsoft Outlook client and delivered to your
email inbox.
1. Click the message ID next to the email message you would like to release from the
Sophos quarantine. A new email message pop-up window will open inside your
Microsoft Outlook client.
2. Click the Send button to send the release request to the Sophos appliance.

Within a few minutes, the released message will be delivered to your email inbox.
