ENTERTAINMENT/Music PREMIUM MUSIC SOLUTION Now the family doesn't have to share the same music over the whole house system. Homeowners can listen to any one of four audio sources in up to eight different locations at the same time. As a complete solution, the Premium Music Solution is best installed during new construction in two steps; at “rough-in” after the Electricians are done, but prior to drywall being installed, and at “trim-out” after the drywall is installed and painted. These steps are detailed below: “Rough-in” steps: a. One Category 5 cable should be run in the wall from one single gang electrical box or low voltage racket and two Category 5 cables should be run in the wall from one two gang electrical box or low voltage bracket at the location/s in the home where the home entertainment center, containing the main source of music, will be located, to the location where the structured wiring enclosure is located (leave extra cable at both ends). b. A single Category 5 cable should also be run from the enclosure location to a single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket at each remote location where distributed music is desired (eventual volume control and/or local source input location). Note: To enable future upgrades for higher current applications, also run a 16/2 or 16/4 speaker wire from the enclosure to each eventual volume control location. There are bundled cables available with this configuration (see the CEA-2030 specification for more detail on audio requirements). c. A Category 5 cable should also be run from the two Local Source Input locations to a single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket at its associated eventual Volume Control location. d. From the single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket at each eventual Volume Control location, high quality 16/2 speaker wire should be run to the eventual location of the speakers associated with that volume control. e. Speaker Brackets may be used to identify the exact location of the speakers, and adjusted to line up with previously installed ceiling lights if desired. There are clips on the speaker bracket to secure a coil of speaker wire, which will be connected to the speaker at trim-out. Note: To achieve the maximum speaker efficiency, you can build a speaker back box by putting a cross stud at two locations, (on either side of the speaker) in the stud space where the speaker will be mounted. Exact blocking distances between these cross studs are provided on the Instruction/Installation sheet that comes with each speaker. Before installing the speaker (after the drywall is installed), you can then fill this cavity with a good quality insulation to complete the back box. PREMIUM MUSIC INSTALL / SETUP “Trim-out” steps: f. At the home entertainment center location/s, the Category 5 cables that were run to the enclosure may be terminated with RJ45 plugs and attached to the rear of the Flush-Mount Single and Triple Source Inputs, which are then mounted in the single gang and two gang electrical boxes or low voltage brackets. g. In the structured wiring enclosure the other end of those same Category 5 cables should be terminated with RJ45 plugs and plugged into the input jacks of the Four Source, Eight Zone Distribution Module. Note: It is very important to connect the Category 5 cable from the Triple Source Input’s “A” output to the Four Source, Eight Zone’s “A” input and the Triple Source Input’s “B” output to the Four Source, Eight Zone’s “B” input. Damage to the module may occur if these are reversed. The Category 5 cable from the Single Source Input’s only output is connected to the Four Source, Eight Zone’s “Single” input. h. The Category 5 cables from each volume control location should be terminated with RJ45 plugs and plugged into the output jacks (labeled “1”, “2”, “3” and “4”) of the Four Source, 8 Zone Distribution Module. i. At each of the two remote volume control locations without local source inputs, the Category 5 cable should be pulled through the single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket and terminated with an RJ-45 plug which is then attached to the rear of the Volume Control, which is then mounted in the single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket. j. At the other two remote volume control locations containing local source inputs, each Category 5 cable should be pulled through the single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket and terminated with an RJ-45 plug which is then attached to the rear of the Local Source Input. k. The Category 5 cable that was run from each Local Source Input location to its associated Volume Control location should be pulled through the single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket and terminated with RJ-45 plugs on each end and plugged into the “Output” RJ-45 jack on the rear of the Local Source Input and the other end should be plugged into the RJ-45 jack on the rear of its associated Volume Control. The Local Source Input is then mounted in its associated single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket. Note: Follow standard TIA 568A rules for punching down Category 5 according to the indicated color codes. l. The Volume Controls contain screw terminals for left and right +/- speaker connections. Connect the 16/2 speaker wires to the Volume Control screw terminals and mount it in its associated single gang electrical box or low voltage bracket. m. The evōQ™ 3000 6.5” In-Ceiling Speakers have black and red push to insert style terminals. Connect the 16/2 speaker wires to the speakers and mount the speakers in the pre-construction brackets. Note: To insure the speakers are installed “in-phase” follow a standard wiring pattern such as “+” on the volume control goes to the red terminal on the speaker over the wire with the label and “-“ on the volume control goes to the black terminal on the speaker over the wire without the label. Wiring the speakers out of phase will decrease their sound output dramatically. n. The mouse portion of the IR emitter is attached to the IR window of the homeowner equipment with the supplied peel and stick tape and it is then plugged into one of the three IR outputs on the appropriate Source Input. The IR Target is placed near the homeowner equipment and plugged into the input jack on one of the Source Inputs. This allows the On-Q Universal Remote to control the homeowner equipment. o. When all devices have been connected, plug the 24VDC cable into the Distribution Module and plug the 24VDC PW1060 power supply into an available AC outlet.
