Precautions
WARNING: Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
CAUTION: The filter must be protected against freezing.
Failure to do so may result in cracking of the filter and water leakage.
NOTE:
• For cold water use only.
• Make certain that installation complies with all state and local laws and regulations.
• After prolonged periods of non-use (such as during a vacation) it is recommended that the system be flushed thoroughly.
• The disposable filter has a limited service life. Changes in taste, odor, color, and/or flow of the water being filtered indicate that the cartridge should be replaced.
Installation
NOTE: Shut off water supply when replacing filter.
For installations using 1/4” copper or plastic tubing, use the following instructions:
1. Shut off water supply. Select a location for installation on 1/4” OD (outside diameter) plastic or copper tubing. Filter requires at least three inches behind appliance. See Fig 1.
NOTE: Leave at least a 5-foot coil of tubing between appliance side and filter. This will allow room to pull out the appliance for changing the filter.
2. Cut 1/4” OD tubing where filter will be installed.
3. Measure 9/16” from the inlet tubing end and mark with a pencil. Measure 3/4” from the outlet tubing end and mark with a pencil. (See Fig 2) See Figure 3 for inlet/outlet designation.

4. Observe the arrow on the filter label that indicates inlet and outlet and install accordingly. See Fig.3. Incorrecto
5. Push the tubing firmly into the filter inlet until the pencil line mark is flush with the fitting collet. Pull out slightly on tubing to insure a good seal.

7. With only the inlet side connected, flush water thru filter into a container for 5 minutes. Wait an hour, and then flush another 5 minutes, or until water runs clear.*
8. Shut off water and then connect the outlet side of the filter to the appliance using the procedure in step #5. Turn water on and check for leaks.
* NOTE: Though the filter has been rinsed to remove fine particles of carbon, resettling of the carbon within the filter can occur. If the first trays of ice become discolored, discard the ice until clear.

PRECAUCIÓN

Debe proteger el filtro contra la congelación. Si no lo hace, puede causar resquebrajaduras en el filtro y derrames de agua.
• SOLO PARA USO CON AGUA FRÍA.
• Asegúrese de que la instalación de este sistema cumpla con todas las leyes y reglamentos locales y estatales.
• Después de períodos prolongados sin uso, como por ejemplo durante las vacaciones, se recomienda que se enjuague bien el filtro. Deje que corra agual por el filtro durante 5 minutos.
• El filtro desechable tiene una duración de servicio limitada. Los cambios en el sabor, olor, color o caudal del agua filtrada indican que se debe cambiar el cartucho.
Instalación
NOTA: Corte la fuente de agua cuando reemplace el filtro.
En las instalaciones que usen tubos de cobre o de plástico de 1/4 de pulgada, siga las siguientes instrucciones:
1. Corte la fuente de agua. Elija una ubicación para instalarlo en un tubo de plástico o de cobre de 1/4 de pulgada de diámetro exterior. El filtro necesita por lo menos tres pulgadas de espacio por detrás del refrigerador y la pared. Vea la figura 1.
NOTA: Deje una medida de tubo de por lo menos 5 pies (1,5 m) entre el lado del refrigerador y el filtro. Esto le dejará espacio para retirar el refrigerador cuando cambie el filtro.
2. Corte el tubo de 1/4 de pulgada de diámetro exterior donde se va a instalar el filtro.
3. Mida 9/16 de pulgada desde el extremo de cada pedazo de tubo que quede
(extremo de entrada y de salida) y haga una marca con un lápiz. Vea la figura 2.
Compruebe su redondez y lisura y que no haya cortes, mellas, puntos planos ni bordes afilados.

4. Observe la flecha ubicada en la etiqueta del filtro la cual indica la entrada y salida e instale el filtro conforme a ello. Vea la figura 3.
5. Empuje firmemente el tubo hacia dentro de la entrada del filtro hasta que la marca de la línea de lápiz quede a ras con el collar de la conexión. Tire ligeramente del tubo hacia afuera para garantizar un buen sellado.
6. Si el tubo no queda firme en la conexión, quite el tubo, vuelva a cortar el extremo, mida, marque y vuelva a introducir el tubo. El tubo debe estar introducido bien a fondo para evitar que haya derrames de agua. Vea la figura 4. (Para quitar el tubo: oprima y sujete el collar blanco; tire del tubo y sáquelo.)
7. Una vez que sólo el lado de entrada esté conectado, deje correr agua por el filtro hacia un balde durante 5 minutos. Espere una hora y deje correr agua durante 5 minutos o hasta que el agua se vea clara.*
8. Corte la fuente de agua y luego conecte el lado de salida del filtro al refrigerador usando el procedimiento del paso no 5. Abra el suministro de agua y compruebe que no haya pérdidas.
*NOTA: Aunque se enjuagó el filtro para quitar las partículas finas de carbono, éstas pudieran quedar asentadas en el filtro. Si las primeras bandejas de hielo aparecen desteñidas, deseche el hielo hasta que se vea claro.
