Featuring technological advances that were until recently science fiction, the Touareg truly is an SUV for a new age. A cutting-edge combination that offers the best of both worlds: the performance and versatility of an uncompromising off-roader and the comfort and luxury of a premium-class sedan. Elegant lines trace an aggressive stance achieved by a lower body and wider wheelbase, accentuated by Volkswagen’s distinctive design DNA. The slightly longer body tapers athletically in the middle to provide more space in the rear seating area. From its dramatic halogen headlights* to its chrome, twinned tailpipes, the Touareg is the epitome of Volkswagen’s vision of “Das Auto” or The Car. Its adventurous spirit beats beneath the skin of the most innovative Volkswagen ever made.

Arching above the stylish leather* interior, with a choice of Silver Metallic or Burr Walnut interior inlays, is the revolutionary 1.4m

panoramic sunroof (optional across the range). It stretches beyond the rear seats, offering a seemingly endless view of the skyline. And to ensure as much comfort as possible, the Touareg is fitted with rain sensors, 4-zone Climatronic air-conditioning (2-zone in the V6), double sun visors, cruise control, electric seats with memory function and premium multi-function display as standard. -inch, colour LCD display in the centre of the instrument cluster provides vehicle and journey information to give the driver peace of mind and the ultimate driving experience.

Luxury.

Class leading, superlative luxury permeates the cabin. The standard RCD 550 radio has a 6-disc CD-changer that can be navigated via the 6.5-inch touchscreen display and features an auxiliary-in socket for external music devices as standard across the range. If satellite navigation is required, the optional RNS 850 radio is available with a 60GB hard drive for your multi-media content, a 3D central display and DVD playback ability. A 6-disc DVD-changer with MP3 playback ability is also available. At the touch of a button on the 3-spoke, leather multi-function steering-wheel, the premium Bluetooth cellphone system automatically quietens the cabin for incoming and outgoing calls. Premium Bluetooth cellphone system also includes WLAN integration for connection of mobile equipment.

Featuring LED reading lights, door illumination and footwell lighting, the new Ambient Package ensures intelligent lighting throughout the Touareg. Perfectly situated at the overhead console, central storage compartment, doors and footwell, LED lights offer clear illumination upon entry and maintain an ambient glow while driving. Optional on all models.

Danish audio specialists, DynAudio, have designed a sound system featuring 12 speakers driven by a Digital Signal Processor and a 620W amplifier.

The system utilises dynamic driving noise compensation for a sensational audio experience

(optional across the range). Close your eyes and you’re at the concert.

The optional Climate Control front seats regulate the ventilation on the surface, backrests and sides of the seats. Choose from three air flow settings to maximise comfort during the journey. The Touareg is innovation materialised – even the seats are air conditioned.

The Touareg’s sliding/tilting panoramic sunroof is revolutionary and will change your view of the world. Designed with an enormous glass surface, this 1.4m

sunroof includes a flexible net wind deflector and employs a pioneering front anchoring plate system to dramatically reduce wind noise when closed.

Versatility.

Multi-faceted and adaptable.

The Touareg is tough, stylish and intelligent enough to adapt to your needs. The Modular Rear-seating Concept features a 40:20:40 asymmetrically split backrest. The rear seats can be adjusted forwards and backwards to a range of 160mm and offer 3-stage reclining positions. Available as an option, a removable and reversible load bed will cover additional storage variations, and is complemented by a netting partition.

A full size spare wheel, situated in the luggage compartment in line with the driver’s seat, is available as an option.

This additional feature is the perfect tool for those who enjoy longer journeys and driving off the beaten path.

Versatility.

The optional electric release tow bar has a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes and folds away completely when not in use.

The removable luggage compartment cover keeps the content of the luggage compartment out of sight and protects it from the sun’s rays.

Roll-up sun screens on the rear side windows are optional and offer supplementary shielding from the sun.

The electric tailgate release is standard on the 4.2 V8

TDI and can be opened and closed via remote key.

Optional on the V6 models.

Anodised silver roof rails, standard across the range, are conveniently placed along the Touareg’s roof to carry bulky items. Robust roof racks, also in silver, are available as an option and enhance the exterior appearance of the Touareg.

All-terrain.

King of the mountains

Approach/departure angles of 24°/25° with air-suspension and 33°/33° with air-suspension for the Terrain Tech model (both optional) make embankments and hills child’s play in the Touareg

(22°/23° on the standard model).

Steep slopes are no challenge for the Touareg with its impressive hill-climbing ability of up to 45° (31° without the Terrain Tech model (optional)). Sit back, relax and enjoy the climb.

Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), to tackle dirt road driving conditions with ease. The new 3.0 V6 TDI Terrain Tech

Touareg has the Terrain Tech package as a standard feature. This advancement provides permanent 4XMotion ® all-wheel drive with low range and centre and rear differential locks that ensure driving power is distributed between the wheels as required. This package will ensure that the 3.0 V6 TDI Touareg makes mole hills out of mountains, leaving no doubt as to why Touareg is a Dakar Rally champion and the first diesel contender to win this unforgiving desert racing challenge.

The wading depth of the formidable Touareg allows you to easily navigate bodies of water up to 580mm deep (500mm without air-suspension). Anyone for a swim?

The Touareg can safely deal with sloping surfaces with a lateral inclination of up to 35°.

With a ramp angle of up to 27° the Touareg easily overcomes obstacles without the undercarriage making contact with the ground.

Over time, every bit counts. The first vehicle in South Africa to offer BlueMotion Technology, the 3.0 V6 TDI Touareg, is 208kg lighter, more aerodynamic and up to 20 percent

Start-Stop technology saves fuel by switching offthe engine while the vehicle is stationary and seamlessly re-starting it when the brake pedal is released.

Energy Recuperation uses less energy for battery charging during acceleration and charges the battery more whilst braking, thereby improving efficiency. The common rail injection technology in the TDI engine is complemented by a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) that removes diesel particulate matter from the exhaust gas. It burns off the particulate during a process called regeneration.

The 3.0 V6 TDI Touareg with BlueMotion Technology has a CO

2

emission level of just 189g/km and a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100km. BlueMotion Technology makes driving more economical and cleaner, without sacrificing everyday driveability and comfort. So remember to Think Blue when next you are in the market for an SUV. With BlueMotion Technology available on the Touareg you can drive a high performance SUV with a clear conscience.

The impressive range of state-of-the-art technological innovations available in the groundbreaking Touareg is sure to leave you shaken and stirred. This agile performer is an all-round vehicle capable of conquering the great outdoors, while still maintaining the refined class and adaptability required to comfortably handle urban travel. Keyless entry, standard on the 4.2 V8 TDI, allows the driver to open the Touareg without revealing the key. The optional garage door opener allows the driver to open electronically operated garage doors from inside the vehicle. The Touareg is built for extremes: extreme journeys, extreme challenges and extreme performance. And it’s equally at home doing the school run.

Innovation.

Area View technology uses four cameras to produce a high-quality 360° view around the vehicle, allowing the driver to see areas outside the vehicle that may otherwise be hidden from view. The viewing perspective is selected on the Infotainment system. This optional feature includes Rear Assist.

Lane Assist is a driver assistance system that dynamically detects lane markings and causes the steering-wheel to vibrate to warn the driver if the vehicle inadvertently leaves its lane.

Side Assist utilises radar sensors to recognise when another vehicle is in the drivers’s blind spot or approaching rapidly from the rear. Light displays, integrated into the exterior mirrors, flash to alert the driver. Lane Assist and Side Assist work in harmony and are available as an option across the range.

From as low as 30km/h the optional Adaptive Cruise

Control maintains the speed at your selected level and takes into account the speed of the vehicle in front of you, contributing to relaxed and safe driving, particularly on long journeys.

The standard Park Distance Control gives an acoustic and visual warning when the vehicle approaches an obstacle in the front or rear during parking.

The optional Rear Assist provides visual assistance for reverse parking with an ingenious overlay of display lines to indicate the ideal parallel parking angle.

Fatigue Detection system senses fading concentration levels by intelligently measuring your pedal and steering-wheel use, in addition to transverse acceleration. This ground breaking feature is designed to keep you alert when you’ve been on the road for a long time.

Safety.

Way ahead of its time.

The journey is as important as the destination, which is why the Touareg is packed with a range of safety features employing the very latest in automotive technology. ISOFIX child seat anchorage, positioned on the outside of the rear seat, guarantees that your most precious cargo travels as safely as possible. The Anti-locking Brake System (ABSplus) reduces braking distances by up to 20 percent on loose surfaces. The Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA) system recognises the speed with which the brake pedal is applied and, during emergency braking, builds up full brake pressure more rapidly.

The Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) synchronises ABSplus, Electronic Differential Lock (EDL),

Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Anti-Spin Regulation (ASR) for optimum handling under challenging driving conditions. The standard Tyre-Pressure Monitoring System monitors the air pressure within your tyres, in order to avoid under-inflation and ensure that your tyres are running at peak performance at all times .

Safety.

A comprehensive airbag system, whiplash-optimised front head restraints and new generation ESP that includes Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist and trailer stabilisation provide an impressive level of safety and ensure that you and your family are safely cocooned in the Touareg. The Proactive Passenger

Protection Pre-Crash systems automatically close the electric windows and panoramic sunroof, reposition backrests to the upright position and employ seatbelt pre-tensioning to reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accident.

Optional LED taillights with Bi-Xenon headlights with cornering lights clearly indicate to other drivers when the car is braking or turning; whilst the Bi-Xenon headlights let the driver know what's around the corner before taking it (standard on 4.2 V8 TDI)
