Universal Programming Unit Programmable head-end amplifier for use in both single family buildings buildings, characterised by: ease of installation, simple or in communal programming, high gain, external programmer, low consumption powering. It features 10 input filters to be distributed by software into 3 UHF ports. per input three possible The number of filters can be selected among 9-0-1, 7-2-1, and 5-3-2), which will be carried configurations (10-0-0, 6-3-1 out according to the channels that are received by each antenna (see figure below). These inputs are pre-amplified. Any UHF channel can be selected (21 to 60) for any filter, and each filter be adjusted for a bandwidth up to 5 channels. can Using the programming unit This system is programmed by the Universal Programmer 7234. The programming unit has a menu with various options which the user can scroll button and which allow the following functions: through by pressing the - Configuration of the system’s UHF inputs (number of filters per input): - Switching off of the VHF and/or FM inputs. - S elect the channels for each filter (max. 5 consecutive channels per filter). - Set the UHF output level (it determines the VHF and FM levels). - Set the UHF equalisation slope. - Set the IF configuration (2). The buttons and LEDs indicate the following: LED´s A Indicates “Main Menu” mode. B Indicates “Extended Menu” mode. C Indicates “Saving” mode. Buttons / Menu or submenu options. (short press) - To change the submenu options. (long press) - To change from the main menu to the extended menu. (short press) - To scroll through the main menus. (long press) - To save and adjust (from any menu or submenu). + + + + Increases the contrast of the screen. Decreases the contrast of the screen. + Enters the “Load Settings” menu. + Enters the “Copy Settings” menu. Once connected, the programmer receives the previously set parameters from the Avant unit (memorised channel in each cluster, input configuration, output level . . .). T he output levels of the filters are automatically balanced with a certain band compensation slope. The UHF inputs also disposes of an automatic powering system that is able to withstand short circuits. The gain is regulated by an automatic attenuation system in both FM (1) and BIII/DAB inputs. The amplifier disposesof a broadband input (47-862 MHz), intended for possible expansions in the system, such as the inclusion of a satellite headend or TDT’s. T he amplification with sloped gain between 950-2150 MHz , is a response to the most recent installation needs, as is the incorporation of digital television in communal TV installations, and it reinforces its use in ICT (Spanish regulations) distributions. (2) T he mixing of the MATV band and the IF band (2) is carried out by a filtering system that guarantees the absence of interferences between channels from both bands. (1) 532970 => BI/FM (2) Available in ref. 532840 The programming unit begins by accessing the “UHF CONFIG” menu so that by pressing the menu selection button , we can scroll through the different options by pressing the button and with the buttons we can select the desired parameters. Once all of the system’s options have been selected, press the adjustment button for a long time (this switches the Avant’s green adjustment LED on) and the unit automatically records and sets up all the parameters selected with the programming unit. Note: To carry out the level adjustment process, it is necessary to terminate the two outputs of the unit with a 75 ohms impedance (ref. 4061), without needing to load the unused inputs, see fig. on page 17. The adjustment button can be pressed (long press) at any time independently of the option of the menu the Avant is (except in the Copy and Load settings menu). As the programming is carried out without the input signal, the adjustment will stop when it does not detect a UHF signal. The programmer can then be unplugged, as although the adjustment process has been interrupted, the data selected has been memorised by the unit. A fterwards, once completed the installation by connecting the inputs to be used and loading the output with 75 ohms, the user simply has to press the “Reset” button and the unit will carry out the adjustment process. The adjustment of the “Avant” unit via the “Reset” button is carried out in the same way as with the programmer, although in this case, the process will not stop if the units detect an error in the input levels and the red error LED will only light up when there is an error in the level of any of the filters. T herefore, if the unit has been programmed with the desired parameters for the installation (channels, output level, equalisation slope ...), when the reset button is pressed, the “Avant” unit will carry out an automatic adjustment of the levels in the same way as when the programmer’s adjustment button is pressed and hold. The green LED will light up indicating that are being adjusted all channel (that the unit already have in memory) levels for UHF, FM, VHF and IF(1) amplifiers, while maintaing the input configurations, the equalisation slope and the output levels that it had already configured. Troubleshooting Channels are not adjusted to the programmed output level: Check that the programmed filter for the highest output channel has both presence of signal and the right level, since this value is taken as a reference for the adjustment of the selected output level. to get these channels equalised with the rest of the adjusted channels. If the level applied is below the indicated range, these channels will have a lower level than the rest; on the other hand, if the level is higher there will be disturbances due to the intermodulation of channels. The channels entering through the input of BIII are regulated incorrectly: If we are entering only one channel through this input, its level would be set 5dB below the UHF level channels. But if, with the same level, we introduce several channels, the Avant will treat them like a higher-level single channel, thus reducing the level adjusted of all of them regarding to the one it would be obtained for just one channel. A high/low level detected in an input or a filter: The adjustment process begins with the verification of the signal levels introduced in the FM (2), BIII input and finally with the verification of the programmed filters. The indication that the FM (2) or BIII level is low when we do not apply the signal in these inputs will not affect the rest of the selected channels. We must remember that the level indications in the FM (2), BIII inputs and filters shown on the programmer’s display are a reference for the adjustment process, being the unit able to balance channels, where a level error has been found, whenever input levels do not present large variations as regards the maximum specified range. If we need to amplify several channels coming from other processing units, we recommend entering them on the input “Broadband (47-862 MHz)”. Channels in the broadband input are not equalised as regards filter: The “broadband” input amplifies signals coming from satellite receivers, the recommended level for this input is between 70 and 74 dBµV (for UHF channels) (1) 532970 (2) 532970 => BI/FM 17 Typical application 7 x DVB-S2 - COFDM Ref. 5631xx 7 x QPSK - PAL Ref. 5537xx UHF3 EN UHF2 FM (1) UHF1 BIII/DAB Ref. 4061 FI 1 (2) Ref. 4061 Ref. 543603 70...74dBμV (UHF) FI 2 Adjust 532840 MATV Ref. 4061 196-264V~ 50/60 Hz Ref. 5363 MATV + FI 1 (2) MATV + FI 2 UHF2 UHF2 FM (1) UHF1 FM (1) UHF1 FI (2) Note: All levels entered through the broadband input (47-862 MHz) should be adjusted between 69 - 73 dBµV for VHF channels and between 70 - 74 dBµV for UHF channels, thus these channels are adjusted to the same level as the selected filters. 196-264V~ 50/60 Hz (1) 532970 => BI/FM (2) Available in ref. 532840 532840 MATV + FI (2) MATV 196-264V~ 50/60 Hz 532940 532970 TEST MATV 18 Guarantee Televés S.A. offers a two year guarantee, beginning from the date of purchase for countries in the EU. For countries that are not part of the EU, the legal guarantee that is in force at the time of purchase is applied. Keep the purchase invoice to determine this date. During the guarantee period, Televés S.A. complies with the guarantee by repairing or substituting the faulty equipment. The harm produced by improper usage, wear and tear, manipulation by a third party, catastrophes or any other cause beyond the control of Televés S.A. is not included in the guarantee. 19 532840_532940_532970_000_EN
