Index of contents

1.Introduction to HTTP FoxBox

2.Sending and receiving via HTTP

3.Web service configuration

1. Introduction to HTTP FoxBox HTTP FoxBox is the “base” version of the classic FoxBox G20, created to supply an easy interaction between SMS channel and IT infrastructures. Arguments related to the use of the specific device are available in this guide, for all the others please refer to the “FoxBox G20 Guide” available on the website (www.smsfoxbox.it).

In order to connect to the FoxBox, you have a web interface at the address: 192.168.0.98 Here you will access using the credentials:

- Username: admin

- Password: admin On the other hand, if you need to remotely access the device with SSH or TTY, the credentials are:

- Username: root

- Password: foxboxg20

Remember that supported browsers are:

- Mozilla Firefox (recommended)

- Opera

- Internet Explorer 6

- Google Chrome 2. Sending and receiving via HTTP This chapter illustrates the functioning of the specific HTTP features. In the first part will be shown the sending of new messages, while in the second will be shown the reception

(and related forwarding to the web service) of an SMS.

2.1 Sending SMS via HTTP The typical way to send SMS from a FoxBox is through the web interface, as you can see on the other manual. Specifically for this version, you can also send SMS passing it these parameters directly from your web service:

- “nphone” (recipient's phone number);

- “testo” (the text of the message).

Thanks to this, you only need that your web services give the requested parameters to the page

“direct_send.php”, and the SMS will be automatically constructed, queued and sent in a few seconds.

Note that, if something is wrong with the parameters passing, you will receive one of these exit codes:

- 501: Missing recipient's phone number;

- 502: Phone number has a wrong format (ex. It contains letters);

- 503: Phone number has a wrong length (must be between 10 and 15);

- 601: Missing text for the message.

As an example, the following call will send a message to X: http://192.168.0.98/direct_send.php?nphone=X&testo=Test

Please remember to write the phone numbers in the format: XXYYYYYYYYYY where XX is the international prefix

(without the “+”), and the remaining characters are the effective number's digits.

2.2 Receiving and forwarding SMS via HTTP On the other side you can receive messages on your FoxBox (that, as usual, will be shown in the web interface and saved in the internal database), and then forward them to a web service to process them in some way. In the next chapter will be shown how to configure the related web service.

3. Web service configuration With the “Configuration” panel on the web interface, you can set the address (in FQDN form) of the web service to which you want to forward the SMS messages received by the FoxBox.

Anyway, you can also access directly the configuration file via SSH at the path: /mnt/flash/root/conf/websrv.conf.
