Frequently asked questions

flexMIRT fits a variety of unidimensional and multidimensional IRT models to single-level and multilevel data.

It uses maximum marginal likelihood, modal Bayes via Bock-Aitkin EM, or MH-RM estimation algorithms.

It produces IRT scale scores using maximum likelihood (ML), maximum a posteriori (MAP), and expected a posteriori (EAP) estimation.

How to perform simulation studies with multiple datasets using flexMIRT?

To run simulation studies on multiple datasets, use the Internal Simulation Function (ISF) within the flexMIRT GUI. Select 'Simulation' from the menu bar, specify the number of replications, and provide the paths for the simulation and calibration syntax files. The datasets will be saved automatically with the replication number added to the file name.
