Frequently asked questions

A web app is a webpage that provides a focused solution to a task and conforms to certain display guidelines, it behaves similarly to an iOS app. A native iOS app is an application you develop using the iOS SDK to run natively on iOS-based devices. iOS apps resemble the built-in applications on iOS-based devices in that they reside on the device itself and take advantage of features of the iOS environment.

Some good examples of metaphors used in iOS apps include dragging, flicking, or swiping objects in a game, sliding on/off switches, flicking through pages of photos, spinning picker wheels to make choices, and tapping Music playback controls.

You need to adapt your design to each device. Mold the UI of each app version to the device it runs on, adapt art to the screen size, and preserve the primary functionality of your app, regardless of the device it runs on. Go beyond the default, unmodified iPhone apps run in a compatibility mode on iPad by default, although this mode allows people to use an iPhone app on iPad, it does not give them the device-specific experience they want.
