IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS are incorporated with a host of advanced technologies and functions to guarantee exceptional image results, including the enhanced HS
SYSTEM for improved night shooting performance, enhanced Scene Detection technology with up to 58 modes, new Face ID function and the new Soft Focus and
Smooth Skin creative filters. In addition, IXUS 240 HS is equipped with a 24mm ultra wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens and is available in 5 trendy colors; while
IXUS 510 HS
offers up to 12x high zooming power for sharp capture of distant subjects and features a minimal body design in shiny black or matte white finish.
Built-in Wi-Fi Wireless Transfer function for instant sharing of high quality images
IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS feature a new built-in Wi-Fi Wireless Transfer function for easy image sharing, uploading or backup. Images on cameras can be uploaded directly to social networking services such as Facebook or YouTube to instantly share every joyful moment with friends. Those images be shared in Facebook will be sent to
CiG (Canon image Gateway) online album simultaneously in their highest quality. Users can also send images wirelessly via Wi-Fi connectivity to smart phones and tablets
for easier image browsing and selection. With free download and installation of Canon’s
CameraWindow
application on your mobile devices, instant upload of images to social
networking service is made possible. In addition, images can be sent to another IXUS
240 HS or IXUS 510 HS for easy and quick sharing or backup.

IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS feature the enhanced HS SYSTEM which integrates the new DIGIC 5 digital image processor’s ultra-fast data processing speed and high sensitivity CMOS image sensor’s light-gathering capability, resulting in improved signalto-noise ratio for excellent night shooting performance. It is especially useful for shooting with high ISO settings at low light situation, as it allows a shorter exposure time thus shaking due to long exposure setting can be largely reduced. Sharp and gorgeous night shots can be captured even with handheld shooting. The high sensitivity CMOS image sensors in IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS offer 16.1-megapixel and 10.1-megapixel respectively to realize sharp and detailed images in high resolution.
Featuring a brand new DIGIC 5 digital image processor which is 6 times faster than its predecessor in noise reduction, sharp images can be captured even under high sensitivity settings. Both cameras also feature a new Multi-Area Auto White Balance function which provides a partial correction according to different light sources like flash or mercury-vapor lamps to reproduce natural colors, improving common problems like unnatural-looking foreground subjects and background.
Wide-angle, high-power optical zoom lens with optical Image Stabilizer (IS)
IXUS 240 HS is equipped with a 24mm ultra wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens for a wider shooting range while IXUS 510 HS features a 28mm wide-angle 12x optical zoom lens that offers the best of both worlds to capture distant and close-up images effortlessly.
Both compact and slim cameras enable easy capture of wide open landscapes and group photos even within a limited space. With the high zooming power, far away subjects can be flexibly captured in brilliant details. Both cameras are integrated with a lens-shift type optical Image Stabilizer (IS) to provide optimal compensation that effectively reduces blur caused by camera shake to ensure sharp images. Coupled with the new ZoomPlus technology that improves image quality when using digital zoom, you can enjoy both flexibility and higher quality when capturing distant subjects.
Double stabilization for sharp images under different shooting situations
With the help of Scene Detection technology, the new Intelligent IS in both cameras automatically optimizes image stabilization performance under different situations for both photo and video shootings, guaranteeing clear images and steady movies at all times. In response to both shift-based and angle-based camera shake in handheld

shooting, both cameras are also incorporated with the Hybrid IS which includes an accelerometer to work with gyroscopic sensors so both kinds of movement can be corrected with high precision. This ensures stability in macro and close-up photography which mostly suffer from shift-based movement. Whether you are taking macro shots, moving subjects, using a tripod, recording movies with tele-zooming or shooting while walking with handheld camera, quality images are right at your fingertips simply by pressing the shutter button.
New Face ID function allowing precise subject detection for the best result
IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS are incorporated with a new Face ID function that allows users to assign name and birthday information to up to 12 faces. This enables the camera to identify different faces as baby (aged below 2), children (aged between 2 to
12) or adult (aged above 13) for more precise operation with the Scene Detection technology to ensure the optimal camera settings for different characters. With Face ID function, managing photos and image playback of a particular person can be done easily by sorting with faces.
Enhanced Scene Detection technology with Sleeping and Smiling Face Detection bringing a maximum of 58 modes
The enhanced Scene Detection technology offers a maximum of 58 different scenes and automatically detects a subject’s focus and exposure, white balance, ISO speed, flash output and dynamic range. Work together with the new Face ID function, a higher level of detection precision can be assured to guarantee the best result under different shooting scenes. By automatically detecting shooting distance, lighting condition, color temperature and dynamic subjects etc, coupled with the ability to identify different subjects as baby, children or adult, it can adjust to the best possible camera settings to capture the scene easily. The enhanced Scene Detection technology can also detect facial expressions. With its Sleeping and Smiling Face detection, the camera will automatically capture 3 images when a smiling face is detected and select the best image. When a sleeping baby face is detected, it will shoot with increased exposure level without flash and shutter sound, and return the best image with minimal blur by combining the data from 3 images taken. With the enhanced Scene Detection technology, perfect images are guaranteed in different situations across a range of lighting conditions, ensuring every image shared on the internet is simply the best.

Full HD Movie Shooting with Dynamic IS and Powered IS
IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS support full HD movie shooting in 1920 x 1080 resolution for more vivid image details. Made specially for movie shooting, the built-in
Dynamic IS reduces shakings caused by handheld shooting at wide angle, while the new
Powered IS is made to improve motion compensation at the tele-end. Work perfectly with Scene Detection technology, both cameras can intelligently select the optimal settings for up to 21 pre-set scene modes for movie shooting.
IXUS 240 HS and IXUS 510 HS also support Movie Digest
HD movie and iFrame movie shooting for quick movie preview and editing. A Super Slow Motion movie mode is also included for more enjoyable shooting with motion subjects like sports, kids or pets. It captures at 240 frames per second

New Creative Filters for fun effects and optimized portraits
Both cameras offer a wide range of creative filters for easy creation of fun photos and movies on the spot, allowing even more fabulous image sharing on social networking services. Miniature Mode can emphasize the subject and blur the surrounding area, creating a miniature-scale effect similar to Tilt-Shift lens. It also supports movie shooting.

Fish-eye Mode mimics the distortion of a fisheye lens which expands the central area of an image to create a convex effect.
