Introducing New Cisco ME 3400 Series Ethernet Access Switches –

Cisco ME 3400G-12CS and 3400G-2CS Switches

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Cisco Systems

®

introduces three new switches to its Cisco

®

ME 3400 Series Ethernet Access Switches, a series of next-generation customer-located equipment (CLE) built especially for triple-play (data, voice, and video) Layer 2 and Layer 3 VPN services. The three new switches are the Cisco ME 3400G-12CS AC, ME 3400G-12CS DC, and ME 3400G-2CS AC Switches. The Cisco ME 3400G-12CS

AC and DC Switches are positioned for service providers who want to offer higher-bandwidth services. Equipped with dual-purpose interfaces and redundant power supplies, these Gigabit switches can also be positioned for in-building aggregation. The Cisco ME 3400G-

2CS Switch is positioned as the intelligent Ethernet demarcation device at the customer premises. With support of Ethernet operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning (OAM&P) features, the Cisco ME 3400G-2CS greatly reduces service providers’ operating expenses (OpEx) by supporting remote monitoring and troubleshooting. Designed to replace the “Smartjack” in TDM networks, the Cisco

ME 3400G-2CS also offers advanced functionalities such as Flex-Links for link redundancy, quality of service (QoS) for differentiated services, and Layer 3 routing for advance IP services to support highly available premium services.

Table 1 provides brief descriptions of the Cisco ME 3400 Series Switches and options.
