Charging
Note: If you press the on/off button during
charging, the 'unplug for use' symbol flashes white
to remind you that you have to disconnect the
product from the wall outlet.
Quick charge: When the battery is empty and
you connect the product to an electrical outlet,
the lights of the battery charge indicator light up
one after the other repeatedly. When the product
contains enough energy for one shave, the bottom
light of the battery charge indicator starts flashing
slowly.
While the product continues to charge, first the
bottom light of the battery charge indicator flashes
and then lights up continuously. Then the second
light flashes and then lights up continuously, and
so on until the product is fully charged.
Battery fully charged
Note: This product can only be used without a
cord.
When the battery is fully charged, all lights of
the the battery charge indicator light up white
continuously.
Note: When the battery is full, the display switches
off automatically after 30 minutes.
Remaining battery charge
The remaining battery charge is shown by the
lights of the battery charge indicator that light up
continuously.

Battery low
When the battery is almost empty, the bottom light
of the battery charge indicator flashes orange.
’Unplug for use’ reminder
The ‘unplug for use’ symbol flashes to remind you
that you have to disconnect the product from the
power outlet before you can switch it on.
Cleaning reminder
Clean the shaver after every shave for optimal
performance (see 'Cleaning and maintenance').
When you switch off the product, the cleaning
reminder flashes to remind you to clean the
product.
Travel lock
You can lock the product when you are going to
travel. The travel lock prevents the product from
being switched on by accident (see 'Travel lock').

Replacing shaving heads
For maximum shaving performance, replace the
shaving heads every year. The product is equipped
with a replacement reminder which reminds you
to replace the shaving heads. The shaving unit
symbol lights up and the arrows flash to indicate
that you have to replace the shaving heads.
Note: After replacing the shaving heads, you need
to reset the replacement reminder by pressing the
on/off button for 7 seconds.
Charge meter
Charge Meter monitors amount of remaining
battery power available. Remaining battery
capacity is based on the amount of power
consumed shaving per minute and is dependent
upon your skin and beard type, whether you use
pre-shave lotion, and how often the styler is used.
Initially your shaver may need to go through 2 or
3 full charge/recharge cycles before remaining
battery capacity indicators begin to display your
accurate battery power left.
Charging
-- Charging, recharging, or using the product at
temperatures below 40°F (4.5°C) or higher than
95°F (35°C) adversely affects lifespan of the
battery.
-- Do not charge the shaver in a pouch or travel
case.
-- The power plug transforms 100-240V AC to less
than 24V DC.
Charge the shaver before you use it for the first
time and when the display indicates that the
battery is almost empty.

Charging takes approx. 1 hour. A fully charged
shaver has a shaving time of up to 50 minutes.
Note: You cannot use the product while it is
charging.
Charging with the power cord

1 Make sure the product is switched off.
2 Put the small plug in the product and
connect the power plug into any 100V to
240V AC outlet. Use only the power cord and
SmartClean system provided.
The display on the shaver will indicate the
product is charging.
3 After charging, remove the power plug from
the wall outlet and pull the small plug out
of the product.
Note: An adapter plug may be necessary for
cord usage in some foreign countries. Use
an attachment plug adapter of the proper
configuration for power outlet.
Charging in the SmartClean system
1 Put the small plug in the back of the
SmartClean system.
2 Put the power plug into any 100V to 240V AC
outlet. Use only the power cord provided.
3 Press the top cap to be able to place the
shaver in the holder ('click').

4 Hold the shaver upside down above the
holder. Make sure the front of the shaver points
towards the SmartClean system holder.

5 Place the shaver in the holder, tilt the shaver
backwards and press down the top cap to
connect the shaver (‘click’).
The battery symbol starts to flash to indicate
that the product is charging. When the battery
is fully charged, the battery symbol lights up
continuously.
6 To remove the shaver, press the top cap down,
pull the shaver forward and lift shaver from
holder.
Using the product
Always check the product and all
accessories before using. Do not use the
product or any accessory if it is damaged,
as this may cause injury. Always replace a
damaged part with one of the original type.
This symbol indicates that the product can be used
in the bath or shower.
-- Use this product for its intended household use
as described in this manual.
-- For hygienic reasons, the product should only
be used by one person.
-- Trimming is easier when the skin and hair are dry.
-- Make sure the SmartClean System does not get
wet or near water.

more difficult to adapt to the Philips Norelco

Switching the appliance on and off
1 To switch the product on or off, press the on/off
button once.
Shaving
For best results on skin comfort, pre-trim your
beard if you have not shaved for 3 days or longer.
Dry shaving

2 Move the shaving heads over your skin in
circular movements to catch all hairs growing in
different directions. Exert gentle pressure for a
close, comfortable shave.
Note: Do not press too hard, this can cause skin
irritation.
3 Switch off and clean the product after each use.
The display lights up for a few seconds to show
the remaining battery status.
Wet shaving
For a more comfortable shave, you can also use
this product on a wet face with shaving foam or
shaving gel.
1 Apply some water to your skin.
2 Apply shaving foam or shaving gel to your skin.
3 Rinse the shaving unit under the tap to ensure
that the shaving unit glides smoothly over your
skin.
4 Switch the product on.

3 Insert the lug of the attachment into the slot in
the top of the product. Then press down the
attachment to attach it to the product (‘click’).
Using the precision trimmer
You can use the trimmer to groom your beard,
sideburns and moustache.
1 Attach the trimmer to the product ('click').
2 Switch on the product.
3 Hold the trimmer perpendicular to the skin and
move the product downwards while you exert
gentle pressure.
4 Clean the trimmer after use.

Travel lock
Activating the travel lock
1 Press the on/off button for 3 seconds to enter
the travel lock mode.
3 sec.
While you activate the travel lock, the travel
lock symbol lights up continuously. When the
travel lock is activated, the travel lock symbol
flashes.
Deactivating the travel lock
1 Press the on/off button for 3 seconds.
The travel lock symbol flashes and then lights
up continuously. The product is now ready for
use again.
Note: The shaver unlocks automatically when
charging in the SmartClean system or when
connected to an electrical outlet.
Cleaning and maintenance
-- Regular cleaning guarantees better shaving
results.
-- The SmartClean system and shaver may be
wiped clean using a damp cloth.
-- Never clean, remove or replace shaving unit
while motor is on.
-- Do not apply pressure to shaving head combs.
-- Do not touch shaving heads with hard objects
as this may dent or damage precision-made
slotted combs.

-- Do not use abrasives, scourers or aggressive
liquids such as gasoline or acetone to clean the
shaver.
-- Do not place or clean any parts of the
SmartClean system in a dishwasher.
Cleaning the shaver under the tap
Clean the shaver after every shave for optimal
performance.
Always check if the water is too hot,
to prevent burning your hands.
Never dry the shaving unit with a towel
or tissue, as this may damage the shaving
heads.
While rinsing shaving heads, water may
drip out of the base of shaver. This is a
normal occurrence.
1 Switch the product on.
2 Rinse the shaving unit under a warm tap.
3 Switch off the product. Pull the shaving head
holder off the bottom part of the shaving unit.

4 Rinse the hair chamber under the tap.

tap.
6 Carefully shake off excess water and let the
shaving head holder air dry.
7 Attach the shaving head holder to the bottom
part of the shaving unit (‘click’).
Cleaning the shaver in the SmartClean system
Keep cleaning cartridge(s) out of reach
of children. Do not take internally. Avoid
contact with eyes. In case of eye contact,
thoroughly flush with cold water. If
irritation persists, get medical attention.
-- Only use this shaver, SmartClean System and
cleaning cartridge (JC302) provided to charge
or clean shaver.
-- For optimal cleaning results, replace the
cleaning cartridge every 3 months.
-- Other Philips Norelco shavers may not work
with this SmartClean System.
-- To avoid evaporation, do not expose cleaning
solution to direct sunlight.
-- The SmartClean system thoroughly cleans but
does not disinfect your shaver, therefore, do not
share shaver with others.

and fluid-resistant surface to avoid any leakage.

to prevent leakage.
Note: Hold the SmartClean system while you

4 Press the on/off button on the SmartClean
system to start the cleaning program.
During the cleaning phase, the cleaning
symbol flashes.
When the cleaning phase is done (after approx.
10 minutes), the cleaning symbol lights up
continuously.
When the cleaning program is done, the ready
symbol lights up continuously.
30 minutes after the cleaning program and
charging are done, the SmartClean system
switches off automatically.
The battery symbol lights up continuously
to indicate that the shaver is fully charged.
Charging takes approx. 1 hour.
5 To let the shaver dry, you can leave it in the
SmartClean system until your next shave.
You can also remove the shaver from the
SmartClean system, shake off excess fluid,
open the shaving unit and let the shaver air dry.
Note: If you press the on/off button of the
SmartClean system during the cleaning program,
the program stops. In this case, the cleaning or
drying symbol goes out.
Note: If you disconnect the SmartClean system
from its power source, the cleaning program stops.

Cleaning the precision trimmer
Never dry with a towel or tissue, as this
may damage the trimming teeth.
Clean the trimmer after each use.

Switch the product on.
2 Rinse the trimmer under a warm tap.
3 After cleaning, switch off the product.
4 Carefully shake off excess water and let the
trimmer air dry.
5 For optimal performance, lubricate the teeth
of the trimmer with a drop of mineral oil every
six months.
Replacement
Replacing the shaving heads
For maximum shaving performance, replace the
shaving heads once a year. Replace damaged
shaving heads immediately.
Always replace the shaving heads with original
Philips Norelco shaving heads model SH70 only.
Replacement reminder
The replacement reminder indicates that the
shaving heads need to be replaced.The shaving
unit symbol and arrows light up when you switch
off the product.

2 Pull the shaving head holder off the bottom
part of the shaving unit.
3 Turn the retaining rings counterclockwise and
remove them. Place them aside in a safe place.

4 Remove the shaving heads from the shaving
head holder.
Discard the used shaving heads immediately to
avoid mixing them with the new shaving heads.
5 Place the new shaving heads in the shaving
head holder.
Note: Make sure the notches on both sides
of the shaving heads fit exactly onto the
projections in the shaving head holder.

6 Place the retaining rings back onto the shaving
heads and turn them clockwise to reattach the
retaining ring.

-- Each retaining ring has two recesses that fit
exactly into the projections of the shaving head
holder. Turn the ring clockwise until you hear a
click to indicate that the ring is fixed.
Note: Hold the shaving head holder in your
hand when you reinsert the shaving heads and
reattach the retaining rings. Do not place the
shaving head holder on a surface, as this may
cause damage to the shaving heads.

7 Attach the shaving head holder to the bottom
part of the shaving unit (‘click’).
8 To reset the replacement reminder, press and
hold the on/off button for approx. 7 seconds.
Replacing the cartridge of the SmartClean system

Replace the cleaning cartridge when the
replacement symbol flashes orange or every

cleaning fluid.You can safely pour the cleaning
fluid down the sink.
3 Discard the empty cleaning cartridge.

Reemplazo de los cabezales de afeitado
Para un rendimiento de afeitado óptimo, le
aconsejamos que reemplace los cabezales de
afeitado cada año. Este producto está equipado
con un recordatorio de reemplazo que le recuerda
reemplazar los cabezales de afeitado. El símbolo
de la unidad de afeitado se ilumina y las flechas
destellan para indicar que tiene que reemplazar
los cabezales de afeitado.
Nota: Después de reemplazar los cabezales de
afeitado, necesita restablecer el recordatorio de
reemplazo presionando el botón encendido/
apagado durante 7 segundos.
Medidor de carga
El medidor de carga controla la cantidad de
batería restante disponible. La capacidad de
batería disponible se basa en la cantidad de poder
consumido en el afeitado por minuto y depende
de la piel y del tipo de barba, si usa loción para
antes de afeitarse y qué tan frecuentemente usa la
recortadora.
Inicialmente, es posible que deba someter a
la afeitadora a 2 o 3 ciclos de carga/recarga

Para un rendimiento de afeitado óptimo, le
aconsejamos que reemplace los cabezales de
afeitado cada año. Reemplace los cabezales de
afeitado dañados inmediatamente.
Siempre reemplace los cabezales de afeitado solo
con los cabezales originales de Philips Norelco
modelo SH70 solamente.
Recordatorio de reemplazo
El recordatorio de reemplazo indica que los
cabezales de afeitado tienen que ser reemplazados.
El símbolo de la unidad de afeitado y las flechas se
iluminan cuando apaga el producto.

6 Coloque los anillos de retención de nuevo
en los cabezales de afeitado y gírelos hacia
la derecha para volver a colocar el anillo de

-- Cada anillo de retención tiene dos ranuras que
ajustan perfecto en los salientes del soporte del
cabezal de afeitado. Gire el anillo a la derecha
hasta que escuche un clic para indicar que el
anillo está fijo.
Nota: Tome el sostenedor del cabezal de afeitado
en su mano cuando vuelva a insertar los cabezales
de afeitado y vuelva ajustar los anillos de

hombres como método exclusivo de afeitado
durante tres semanas para disfrutar de un afeitado
cómodo y al ras. Esto permite que su pelo y
su piel se acostumbren al sistema de afeitado
Philips Norelco. Si después de este período de
prueba no está satisfecho con los resul-tados de
su afeitadora Philips Norelco, puede devolver el
producto con el recibo de compra que contenga
la fecha de adquisición y le reembolsaremos el
precio de compra íntegramente.
El producto debe enviarse por correo certificado
pago, con seguro prepago, junto con el recibo

y la fecha de compra, así como el formulario
