EN COOLSAVER Certain fruits and vegetables generate ethylene as a natural part of their ripening cycle. Other fruits and vegetables are highly sensitive to the presence of ethylene, but may or may not produce the ethylene themselves. Coolsaver maintains longer shelf life with better food quality and fresher perishables by removing the ethylene gas that causes premature ripening and decay. High relative humidity is good for most perishable foods but condensation is not. Coolsaver eliminates excess condensation that causes mould, mildew and bacteriological growth on food. Coolsaver also avoids cross transfer of odors and provides an ideal environment in your refrigerator. Coolsaver is a 100% natural inorganic mineral and keeps its full efficiency for several years. Considering the dust and humidity around the Coolsaver during the normal use of the efrigerator, it is recommended to recondition the Coolsaver periodically at each 6 months to satisfy the full effectivity. Reconditioning is a process of cleaning the Coolsaver bag with a vacuum cleaner and then putting it under sunlight for around 6 hours or inside an oven at 80 ˚C for 1 hour. In order to keep the maximum effectivity and save the performance; dust, oil or other liquids must be avoided to be in contact with the Coolsaver. Such contact with these materials will cause reduction or totally loss of the effectivity of the Coolsaver minerals and may require replacement with a new one. SUPER COOL Using Super Cool function it is possible to increase the cooling in the refrigerator compartment. The use of this function is recommended when placing a very high quantity of food in the refrigerator compartment. Press & hold for 3 sec. the Fridge Temperature button to activate Super Cool function. Open the humidity regulator (position B) if you want to store food in a less humid environment like fruit, or close it (position A) to store food in a more humid environment like vegetable. A B BLACK OUT ALARM After a power blackout, your product is designed to automatically monitor the temperature in the freezer when electricity is resupplied. If the temperature in the freezer rises above freezing level, the Black Out indicator lit the Alarm indicator blinks and the acoustical alarm sounds when electricity is re-supplied. To reset the alarm press the Reset Alarm button just once. In case of Black Out Alarm, the following actions are recommended: • If the food in the freezer is unfrozen but still cold, all the food in the freezer should be moved to the fridge compartment and eaten within the next 24 hours. • If the food in the freezer is frozen, this indicates the food was thawed and then refrozen when electricity was re-supplied which degrades taste, quality and nutritional value and also could be unsafe. It is recommended to not consume the food but to dispose of the entire content of the freezer. The Black Out Alarm is designed to provide guidance on food quality in the freezer in the event of electricity black out. This system does not guarantee food quality or safety and consumers are advised to use their own judgment in evaluating food quality in freezer and refrigerator compartments. ACTIVE OXYGEN Through the emission of a small quantity of ozone, this function enables a reduction in the proliferation of bacteria and microorganisms inside the refrigerated drawer and limits bad odours. The quantity of ozone discharged by the device is minuscule and it is rapidly expended during the antibacterial action. To activate the Active Oxygen function, press the O3 button (icon) on the control panel. When the function is activated, a coloured light will appear on the device inside the refrigerated drawer, according to the following cyclical features: - Green light: ozone emission phase - Blue light: antibacterial and antiodour action phase (without ozone emission). To deactivate the function, simply press the O3 button (icon) on the control panel. Note: when the Active Oxygen function is activated, a faint odour might be perceived the refrigerated drawer (the same odour that sometimes accompanies a thunder storm due to the ozone produced by the lightning): it is absolutely normal. To disengage the door alarms close the door, or press once Stop Alarm button to mute the acoustical alarm. 15 FOOD-STORAGE TIPS FRIDGE COMPARTMENT The refrigerator is the ideal storage location for ready meals, fresh and preserved food, dairy products, fruit and vegetables and beverage. AIR VENTILATION The natural circulation of air in the refrigerator compartment results in zones with different temperatures. It is coldest directly above the fruits and vegetables crisper and at the rear wall. It is warmest at the top front of the compartment. Insufficient ventilation results in an increase in energy consumption and reduction of the refrigerating performance. Do not cover air slots by food on other staff - they are optimized for proper air circulation and food preservation. HOW TO STORE FRESH FOOD AND BEVERAGE › Use recyclable plastic, metal, aluminum and glass containers and cling film to wrap foods. › Do not store food too close together to enable sufficient air circulation. › Always use closed containers for liquids and for food that may give off or be tainted by odor or flavor transfer or cover them. › To avoid bottles falling over, you can use the bottle holder. › Foods which give off a large amount ethylene gas and those that are sensitive to this gas, such as fruit, vegetables and salad, should always be separated or wrapped so as not to reduce the storage life; for example do not store tomatoes together with kiwi fruits or cabbage. › If you have a little quantity of food to store in the refrigerator, we recommend to use the shelves above the crisper for fruits and vegetables since this is the coolest area of the compartment. › Be aware to do not close air slots by the food. WHERE TO STORE FRESH FOOD AND BEVERAGE › On the fridge shelves: ready meals, tropical fruits, cheeses, deli. › In the coldest area (the one above the fruits and vegetables crisper): meat, fish, cold cuts, cakes 16 › In the fruits and vegetables crisper: fruits, salad, vegetables. › In the door: butter, jams, sauces, pickles, cans, bottles, beverage cartons, eggs. EN Legend TEMPERATE ZONE Suggested for the storage of tropical fruit, cans, drinks, eggs, sauces, pickles, butter, jam. COOL ZONE Suggested for storage of cheese, milk, dairy food, delicatessen, yogurt. COOLEST ZONE Suggested for the storage of cold cuts, desserts.
