INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on your purchase of this High Resolution Color Monitor. Mitsubishi
designed this monitor to provide you with years of reliable trouble-free operation.
Once again, thank you for selecting our product and welcome to Mitsubishi.
1.1 FEATURES
This MONITOR is a 15-inch intelligent, microprocessor based monitor, compatible
with most analog RGB (red, green, blue) display standards, including IBM*, IBM
PC*, IBM PS/2", VESA type and Apple Macintosh |!” - family. It provides crisp text
and vivid color graphics with VGA, SVGA, XGA and most Macintosh compatible
color video cards.
The monitor's wide compatibility makes it possible to upgrade video cards or
software without purchasing a new monitor.
Digitally controlled auto-scanning is done with the microprocessor, for horizontal
scan frequencies between 31.5kHz and 62kHz, and vertical scan frequencies
between 50Hz and 80Hz. The microprocessor based intelligence allows the monitor
to operate in each frequency mode with the precision of a fixed frequency monitor.
The monitor contains resident memory for pre-programmed screen display standards
and is also capable of storing additional user adjustement information.
The monitor is capable of producing a maximum horizontal resolution of 1024 dots
and a maximum vertical resolution of 768 lines. This display is well suited for
windowing environments.
Because of the analog signal inputs, the monitor can display an unlimited palette of
colors.
1.2 LOCATION CONSIDERATIONS
When setting up and using your monitor, keep the following in mind:
Avoid placing your monitor against a bright background or where sunlight or
other light sources shine directly on the monitor. This will reduce eye fatigue.
Also, for optimum viewing, place the monitor just below eye level.
Place the monitor away from strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields, such
as high capacity transformers, electrical motors, large current power lines, steel
pillars, etc. . Magnetism can cause distortion in the picture and/or color purity.
Avoid covering the slots or openings of the monitor. Allow adequate ventilation
around the monitor so that the heat from the monitor can properly dissipate.
Avoid placing the monitor in a built-in enclosure that does not have adequate
ventilation.
Avoid exposing the monitor to rain, excessive moisture, or dust, as this can
cause a fire or shock hazard.
Avoid placing the monitor, or any other heavy object, on the power cord.
Damage to the power cord can cause a fire or electrical shock.
When transporting the monitor, handle it with care.

1.3 UNPACKING
After you unpack your color monitor you should have all of the items indicated in
Figure 1 and listed below. Save the original box and packing materials in case you
have to ship or transport your monitor.

1.4 TILT & SWIVEL BASE
The monitor comes with a tilt & swivel base. This enables you to position the monitor
to the best angle and tilt for maximum viewing comfort.
1.4.1 Screen Position Adjustment
Adjust the tilt and rotation of the monitor by placing your hands at opposite sides of
the case, as shown in Figure 2. You can adjust the monitor 45 degrees right or left,
15 degrees up or 5 degrees down, as shown below.
WARNING
Do not remove the tilt & swivel base from your monitor. Removing the tilt & swivel
base causes rising internal temperature and the monitor will stay not stable.
CONNECTING THE MONITOR
2.1 AC POWER CONNECTION
The AC power cord must be plugged into a standard 220 ~ 240 VAC outlet.
CAUTION: Connect only to a properly grounded outlet.
2.2 SIGNAL CABLE CONNECTION
The video signal cable provides a DB9-15P standard 15-pin connector for analog
. RGB-input. The RGB-input may be from IBM PS/2*, an IBM PC* or compatible, or
Apple Macintosh II" video card.
2.2.1 CONNECTING TO A PC-SYSTEM
Due to the wide range of the horizontal and vertical frequencies of this monitor you
can use many graphic adapters, for example:
VGA
ERGO VGA (640 x 480) up to 90Hz
S-VGA (800 x 600) up to 90Hz
XGA (1024 x 768) upto 75Hz
1. Power off both, the monitor and the PC.
2. Connect the monitor signal cable to the 15-pin connector on the graphic adapter
(see Figure 3).
3. First power on the monitor, then the PC.

2.2.2 Connecting to an Apple Macintosh ll Family: 640 x 480
Figure 4 shows the connection of the optional connector when using an Apple
Macintosh II.
1. Power off both, the monitor and the PC.
2. Connect the 15-pin (DB15P) end of the optional connector to the straight
15-pin connector on the Macintosh video port on the CPU or on the video board
(see Figure 4).
3. Connectthe sub-miniature 15-pin (DB9-15P) end of the optional connector to the
monitor signal cable (see Figure 4).
4. First power on the monitor, then the Macintosh.

3.1 CONTROL NAMES AND FUNCTIONS _
1. POWER SWITCH: A push-on push-off switch for AC power.
2. POWER-ON INDICATOR: This indicator illuminates when AC power 1s on.
3. CONTRAST CONTROL BUTTONS: Used to adjust the contrast level. Push
and hold the plus (+) button to increase or the minus (-) button to decrease
the contrast level.
BRIGHTNESS CONTROL BUTTONS: Used to set the black level of the
screen. The plus (+) and minus (-) button function is the same as the contrast
control buttons. Set the brightness control to the point where the dark areas
ot the picture barely become black.
STATUS INDICATOR: The status indicator illuminate when the brightness or
contrast controls are active. The status indicator will blink when the control
limits are reached.
ADJUSTMENT FUNCTION SELECT BUTTONS: Push the adjustment
function select buttons LEFT [<I] or [==] RIGHT to select the desired adjust-
ment function.
ADJUSTMENT FUNCTION INDICATORS: Indicators illuminate to identify
the selected adjustement function. Indicator blinks when control limits are
reached.
. POSITION (PHASE) CONTROL:
Use the (+) and (-) adjustment buttons to adjust for the desired
= horizontal display position.
H. SIZE CONTROL:
— Use the (+) and (-) adjustment buttons to adjust for the desired
horizontal display size.
. POSITION CONTROL:
E) Use the (+) and (-) adjustment buttons to adjust for the desired

V. SIZE CONTROL:
(4) Use the (+) and (-) adjustment buttons to adjust for the desired
vertical display size.
ADJUSTMENT CONTROL BUTTONS: Push and hold the increase (+) or
decrease (-) buttons for the desired adjustment. All adjustments are
automatically memorized.
PRESET RECALL BUTTON: Push to restore all factory presets, (referto 6.3
in the Appendix) that may have been overwritten by the user.
The user area remains unchanged.
3.2 ENHANCED ADJUSTMENT MODE (PCC)
This adjustment mode provides the user with an additional adjustment for raster
geometry. To enable this mode perform the following.
1. Power off the monitor
2. Push and hold both (-) and (+) adjustment control buttons while switching the
monitor power on. After the power is on, release both buttons.
3. Adjustment function indicator blinks rapidly for approximately 10 seconds.
4. During this time, push and release both (-) and (+) buttons one more time. Then
the monitor is in the PCC adjustment mode.
5. Push the adjustment function select buttons LEFT ==) or == RIGHT to set
adjust-ment function indicators as shown in Figure 6.

6. Use the adjustment control buttons-to perform the adjustment as shown in
Figure 7.
7. All adjustments are automatically memorized.
To exit the PCC adjustment mode, power off the monitor.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The following are some common problems that you may encounter. Refer to this
checklist before contacting service personnel.
4.1 MONITOR SCREEN IS BLANK
Check the brightness and contrast controls. Adjust to maximum brightness and
contrast.
Check the power
- Verify that the power on indicator is illuminated.
- Verify that the power cord is plugged into the electrical outlet.
- Verify that the power outlet is active and working.
Check signal cable connections
- Verify that the signal cable is tightly connected to the PC.
- Press the memory recall button.
- The power on indicator blinks, indicating that there is no sync. signal.
Note: Allow 30 seconds for CRT warm-up.
4.2. MONITOR SCREEN IMAGE IS TOO DIM OR TOO BRIGHT
- Check the brightness and contrast controls.
- Check the signal cable connection.
4.3 MONITOR SCREEN IS NOT STABLE
Input signals in the horizontal scanning frequency range of 31.5kHz to 62kHz and
the vertical scanning frequency range of 50Hz to 90Hz are automatically locked onto
by the auto-scanning circuitry. If the picture is not stable, check the following.
Check the signal cable connection.
Verify that the horizontal and vertical scan frequencies from the video card are
within the required ranges. The monitor can only accept the following signals:
- Horizontal scanning frequency 31.5kHz to 62kHz
- Vertical scanning frequency 50Hz to 90Hz
NOTE:
It is normal for this monitor to take less than 5 seconds from the time it detects the
sync. signal until a stable picture is displayed.

44 A BUZZING SOUND IS HEARD JUST AFTER THE POWER IS SWITCHED ON
Each time you power on the monitor you will hear a buzzing sound. This sound
IS caused when the auto degaussing circuit is activated and should last 3 to 4
seconds.
NOTE:
If you still have a problem which you cannot resolve, call your local dealer.
CLEANING YOUR MONITOR
When cleaning your monitor, please follow these guidelines.
Always unplug the monitor before cleaning.
Wipe the sreen and cabinet front and sides with a soft cloth.
If the screen requires more than dusting, apply a household window cleaner to
a soft cloth to clean the monitor screen.
CAUTION:
Do not use benzene, thinner or any volatile substances to clean the unit as the finish
may be permanently marked. Never leave the monitor in contact with rubber or vinyl
for an extended period.

APPENDIX
6.1 PRESET TIMING AND INTERNAL PRESET MEMORY CAPABILITY
To minimize the need for adjustment, six (6) popular display standards, shown
below, have been preset into the monitor. If any of these display standards are
detected, the picture size, centering and geometry is automatically adjusted. All of
the presets may be overwritten by adjusting the user controls (refer to the adjustment
function indicators). The monitoris capable of automatically storing four (4) additional
display standards. The new display information must differ from any of the existing
display standards by at least 3kHz horizontal scan frequency, or 5Hz vertical scan
frequency, or the sync. signal polarities must be different. The six (6) presets are
designated as factory presets and may be recalled by pressing the PRESET
RECALL BUTTON. The other four (4) user positions are designated as a user area
and not changed by the PRESET RECALL BUTTON.
