Dwyer Series VFF flowmeters are designed to measure the flow rate of liquids and gases. They are made of durable Acrylic plastic and can withstand pressures up to 100 PSIG (690 kPa) and temperatures up to 150 PSIG (1034kPa). The flow rate is read at the bottom of the target and can be adjusted using the integral valve. Dwyer Series VFF flowmeters are suitable for a wide range of applications, including:
- Measuring the flow rate of water, oil, and other liquids
- Measuring the flow rate of gases, such as air, nitrogen, and oxygen
- Calibrating other flowmeters
- Monitoring the flow rate of liquids and gases in industrial processes

The meters can be installed in any position. Installation, operation and maintenance are very simple and only a few common sense precautions must be observed to assure long, trouble-free service. Calibration Each Dwyer flowmeter is calibrated at the factory. If at any time during the meter's life, you wish to recheck its calibration, do so only with devices of certified accuracy. DO NOT attempt to check the Dwyer flowmeter with a similar flowmeter as seemingly unimportant variations in piping and back pressure may cause noticeable differences in the indicated reading. If in doubt, return your Dwyer flowmeter to the factory. It will be calibration checked for you for a small fee. Location Visi-Float Acrylic flowmeters are exceptionally tough and strong. They are designed for use at pressures up to 100 psi and temperatures up to 150%. NO NOT EXCEED THESE LIMITS! The installation should not be exposed to strong chlorine atmospheres or solvents such as benzene, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, etc. The mounting location should be free of excessive vibrations since it may prevent the unit from operating properly. Inlet Piping Run It is good practice to approach the flowmeter inlet with as few elbows and restrictions as possible. In every case the inlet piping should be at least as large as the connection to the flowmeter. Discharge Piping As on the inlet, discharge piping should be at least as large as the flowmeter connection. Mounting The flowmeter is designed to mount directly in line and in any orienta- tion. When using flexible piping, it is recommended that the flexible piping be supported to reduce vibration in the system. The flow rate is read at the bottom of the target. Adjust the valve to achieve the desired flow rate. Maintenance The only maintenance normally required is occasional cleaning to assure reliable operation and good float visibility. Disassemble The flowmeter can be disassembled for cleaning by simply disconnect- ing the piping, and removing the top and bottom fittings. Remove the washer, spring, and target. Removal of the valve is not recommended due to difficulty in removing the valve from the flowmeter body. Cleaning The flow tube and flowmeter body can best be cleaned with a little pure soap and water. Use of a bottle brush or other soft brush will aid the cleaning. Avoid benzene, acetone, carbon tetrachloride, alkaline deter- gents, caustic soda, liquid soaps (which may contain chlorinated solvents), etc. and avoid prolonged immersion. Reassemble Reinstall the spring, target, washer, and fittings. Make sure to reinstall the target in the proper orientation. (Chamfered side towards inlet.) A little stop cock grease or petroleum jelly on the O-Rings will help main- tain a good seal as well as facilitate assembly. No other special care is required.
