MFJ-1919EX
Portable Antenna Stand
Instruction Manual
Thank you for purchasing the MFJ-1919EX Portable Antenna Stand. The MFJ-1919EX is
perfect for camping trips dxpeditions, hiking, etc. It is great for mounting loop antennas, VHF/UHF
vertical antennas, or any other type of portable antenna. The MFJ-1919EX extends up to 18 feet and
will hold a maximum of 15 Ibs. The MFJ-1919EX collapses to a compact 5 feet for easy storage. With
the legs spread at the maximum distance, the MFJ-1919EX base covers 693 square inches for a more
stable support.
Please read this instruction manual completely and thoroughly before using the MFJ-1919EX.
Assembly
Remove components from box and install each section into the next size larger section. Loosen each
quick-clamp by lifting the tab on the side. If this is not enough, use a large Phillips screwdriver to open
the clamp wider. The screw 1s reverse thread so turn it to the right to loosen the clamp. When the
section 1s seated in the clamp, lower the tab and re-tighten the clamp so that it will not move when the
tab is down but will slide in and out when the tab is lifted. It may take a few tries to get it just right.
Instructions:
«First loosen the leg thumbscrew.
«Slightly separate the legs to the desired spread and tighten the leg thumbscrew.
«Install the desired mount onto the top section of the mast. Larger antennas may need to be attached to
a lower section for increased stability.
«Install your antenna onto the mount or install your antenna onto the top of the mast with U-bolts.
«Loosen the quick clamp and extend each section to the desired height. Pay attention to the limit marks
on each section, do not extend beyond this mark. Re-clamp each section and verify that it is secure
and will not allow the tube to slide down. If needed, use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the quick-
clamp to increase the clamping force. Remember that the screw adjustment 1s reverse thread. Turn it
to the left to increase tension and to the right to decrease tension.
«Make sure as each section is raised that the stand is stable. If the mast begins to lean to one side stop,
and verify that the antenna is balanced properly on the mount. If an antenna is too heavy, it may need
to be lowered to the next section down. If the antenna feels unstable when raised, use guy ropes to
secure the stand from three points 120 degrees from each other.
Warning:
«The MFJ-1919EX is suited for temporary outdoor use. Do not leave the tripod outdoors for extended
periods of time. Do not allow anyone to walk under or stand within falling distance of the mast. Wind
will greatly limit the size of antenna you can mount on the 1919EX. Guying the antenna 1s always
recommended but 1s a must in any windy conditions. Even small gust may cause the stand to tip if a
large surface area antenna is mounted on the mast.
«Do not attempt to use the stand on unlevel ground. The tripods ability to support the antenna depends
upon the weight of the system to remain within the radius of the tripods legs.
