Float Switch
1. Information concerning the
Operating Instructions
Please read these operating instructions thoroughly. Follow the information
given. Use the operating instructions
to get acquainted with the proper use
of the Float Switch.
For safety reasons, people
who are not familiar with these
operating instructions should not
use this Float Switch.
A
Children under the age of 16 should
not use the Float Switch. Keep them
away from the connected unit.
Following the operating instructions
supplied by the manufacturer is a
prerequisite for the proper use of the
Float Switch.
2. Function and Application Range
The Float Switch can be used in
conjunction with all pumps operated
with 230 V / 50/60 Hz a.c. (alternating
current), e.g. garden pumps, pressure
tank units, submersible pumps or submersible pressure pumps which have
been designed for private use around
house and garden. It automatically
switches on the pump when the water
level rises and switches off the pump
at a lower water level.

4. Installation
.Plug the power- or extension cable
into the socket (1) of the Float
Switch.
.Connect the mains plug (2) to a
230 V a.c. (alternating current)
socket.
.For usage with garden pumps
and pressure tank units in water
reservoirs or with submersible and
submersible pressure pumps secure
the float switch cable (3) to the
pump ensuring that the Float Switch
automatically switches on and off
depending on the respective water
level (ill. B). (The ball in the Float
Switch must “fall” into the respectively contrary direction of the float
switch casing (4) to switch on / off
the pump.
5. Safety and Operation Hints
.Caution: Pursuant to DIN
VDE 0100 -702 and 0100 -738
use of a pump in / nearby swimming pools and garden ponds and
other similar places is only permissible, if the pump is operated
via a circuit breaker safety switch
(FI switch). As an additional
safety device an authorised safety
switch can be used. Please ask
your electrician for his advice.
.Pursuant to DIN VDE 0620
power cables as well as extension
cables must not have a smaller
diameter than rubber sheathed
cables described with letter
symbols H07 RNF.
.In Austria, the electrical connections must be made according
to ÖVE-EM 42, T2 (2000) /1979
§ 22 based on § 2022.1. Pursuant
to this regulation it is imperative
to operate pumps in swimming
pools and nearby garden ponds

.exclusively via an isolating transformer. Please ask your electrician.
.In Switzerland mobile appliances
which are used outdoors, must
be connected via a circuit breaker
safety switch.
.Make sure that connections are
made in an area protected from
floodings.
.Before operating the pump,
first make a viusal check, if there
is any damage (esp. regarding
power cable and plug).
A damaged appliance must
not be used. In case of damage,
please have the Float Switch
checked by our GARDENA
Service Centre or by an
authorised electrician.
.Check line voltage. The Float
Switch must only be connected to
230 V / 50 / 60 Hz a.c. (alternating
current) sockets. Attention , only
use with devices with a power
input of max. 10 (4) A.
We expressly point out that, in accordance with the product liability
law, we are not liable for any
damage caused by our units if it is
due to improper repair or if parts exchanged are not original GARDENA
parts or parts approved by us, and,
if the repairs were not carried out
by a GARDENA Service Centre or
an authorised specialist. The same
applies to spare parts and accessories.
6. Putting into Storage
.Before the first frost sets in, remove the Float Switch from the
water reservoir and store it in
frost-resistant place.
Disposal (in accordance with RL2002 / 96 / EC)
The product must not be
added to normal household waste. It must be
disposed of properly.
