WLAN units that work independently of each other: one for the 2.4
GHz standard frequency range; one for the 5 GHz frequency range.
That means that there are two WLAN configuration options.
Since the setting options for 5 GHz are identical to 2.4 GHz, The 2.4
GHz options will be described here in more detail. Differences to the
5 GHz settings will be dealt with separately.
To change the standard WLAN settings, proceed as follows:
€ On the home page, click the "General Setup" button and then

Mode Comments
This is the most-used operating mode.
Devices can be connected wirelessly to
Access Point each using a WLAN router and then estab-

WDS (Wireless Distribution System) is the term for the wireless

Configuration and operation
Setting the Wireless LAN encryption
A distinction must be made between the following terms:
m Authentication:
is a process during which for example, the identity of a person is
determined by means of a certain feature. For example, this can
be a fingerprint, a password or another form of authorisation.
m Encryption:
is a process during which a "plain text" is transformed into a
"secret text" by means of an encryption routine (algorithm). One
or more codes can be used for this. Each individual encryption
method offers one or more possibilities for authentication.
» Encryption is switched on by default. For security reasons, it is
recommended to use your own WLAN key.
In addition to WPA, the device also supports the older method WEP
(Wired Equivalent Privacy). WEP is only necessary if all the client
computers in the wireless LAN are not able to use the WPA method.
» Be aware that the WEP method is now not considered to be
secure. lt is possible that WEP-encrypted data can be read and
manipulated by unauthorized third parties. We therefore recom-
mend not to use WEP and only use the secure WPA encryption
method.
WLAN Router 450 37
Configuration and operation
To set the Wireless LAN encryption, proceed as follows:
€ On the home page, click the "General Setup" button and then
select "2.4 GHz Wireless" in the menu on the left.
€ Select the mode under basic settings and confirm with "Apply".
€ Then select "Security settings" in the menu an the left.

m Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) with 64 bit and 128 bit
m Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) Pre-Shared Key
x WPA RADIUS
Ф Select the encryption method and enter the corresponding data
according to the input mask (see following pages).
> Pay attention to upper and lower case characters when
entering the key.
@ In the next view, click on the "Apply" button and again on the
"Apply" button in the following view to save the settings.
