ATTENTION:
• • • • The length of the exposed wires in the stripping process is critical. The ideal length is 3/16 inches (5 mm). Any longer and the exposed wires may touch, causing a short circuit between them. Any shorter and the wires can be easily pulled out even if tightly fastened by the captive screws.
Always use a power supply supplied by or specified by Extron. Use of an unauthorized power supply voids all regulatory compliance certification and may cause damage to the supply and the end product.
• • • • • • If not provided with a power supply, this product is intended to be supplied by a UL Listed power source marked “Class 2” or “LPS” rated 12 VDC, 0.5 A minimum.
Unless otherwise stated, the AC/DC adapters are not suitable for use in air handling spaces or in wall cavities. The power supply is to be located within the same vicinity as the Extron AV processing equipment in an ordinary location, Pollution Degree 2, secured to the equipment rack within the dedicated closet, podium, or desk.
The installation must always be in accordance with the applicable provisions of National Electrical Code ANSI/ NFPA 70, article 725 and the Canadian Electrical Code part 1, section 16. The power supply shall not be permanently fixed to building structure or similar structure.

Power and signal status LED
— This dual-color LED lights yellow when the DVI is receiving power. When a DVI input signal is present, this LED lights green.
NOTE If the LED does not light when attempting to power the unit from the source device, use an external power supply instead.
Powering Via the Input Source
For shorter distances, the DVI 101 can receive power from the input device via the 5 VDC signal on pin 14 of the DVI 101. This eliminates the external power supply. However, for best unit performance, the external supply is recommended.
NOTE If the source does not adequately supply the +5 V power, an external power supply must be used. To verify if the source is providing power, connect a short DVI cable from the input device to the input of the DVI. If the DVI 101 front panel LED lights yellow, the source is supplying power.
Mounting the DVI 101
The DVI 101 can be mounted on a rack shelf, under furniture, or placed on a table top.
Tabletop mounting
Four self-adhesive rubber feet are included with the DVI 101. For tabletop use, attach one foot at each corner on the bottom
