The Vello BG-S6 is designed for the Sony a9 and a7 III

Series mirrorless cameras. It accepts two NP-FZ100 batteries, essentially doubling your camera’s runtime.

The grip provides a shutter release, front and rear dials,

C1 and C2 custom function buttons, control lock switch,

AF-ON, AEL, as well a joystick Multi-Selector, making it comfortable to shoot in portrait orientation.

Please read through this entire manual before using the BG-S6 battery grip.

Precautions

1.

The BG-S6 should be used only with compatible devices specified in this manual.

2.

Use only with the batteries and battery holders recommended in this manual.

3.

If you notice smoke, an unusual smell, or noise from the battery pack, discontinue use immediately. Remove the batteries, and contact Vello Customer Service.

4. The battery level may not display properly if batteries are installed before mounting the grip.

5.

Remove the batteries from the grip when not in use.

6. Do not attempt to disassemble.

7.

Avoid exposing this product to water or extreme humidity, and keep it in a dry, cool place.

8.

Keep out of reach of children.

* These controls perform the same function as their on-camera equivalents and are affected by changes to the Custom Settings menu.

Attaching the Grip

1.

Ensure that the camera power is turned off, and the control lock on the BG-S6 is in the locked position.

2.

Open the camera’s battery chamber, and remove the battery. Then disconnect the battery door from the camera, using the latch.

3.

Insert the camera’s battery door into the grip’s battery door holder, using the door latch. Then lock the door in place.

4.

Insert the grip’s power contacts into the camera’s battery chamber, and align the camera mounting screw with the camera’s tripod socket.

5.

Rotate the locking wheel counterclockwise until it’s firmly tightened.

Inserting the Batteries

1.

Lift and rotate the battery tray’s lock counterclockwise, and remove the battery tray from the grip.

2.

Align the contacts of the first battery and slot 1.

Insert the battery toward the contacts, and push down to lock the battery in place.

3.

Align the contacts of the second battery and slot 2.

Slide the battery in, and press down until it clicks.

4.

Insert and lock the battery tray inside the battery grip.

5.

Switch on your camera, and turn the grip’s control lock switch to the unlocked position [ • ].

Note: When removing the grip, turn off the camera’s power, and then remove the batteries.

Removing the Batteries

1.

Turn the camera off. Lift and rotate the battery tray lock counterclockwise, and remove the battery tray from the grip.

2.

Remove batteries 1 and 2 by lifting the batteries out of the tray.

Battery Status

When two batteries are installed in the BG-S6, your camera will automatically select the battery with lower power remaining. The battery level will appear on your camera’s LCD with the battery level percentage for only the battery in use. When the battery is depleted, your camera will switch to the other battery in the grip.

Important: When storing your Sony camera with the grip attached, turn your camera off, and turn the grip’s control lock switch to the locked position.

ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

This VELLO product is warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date or thirty (30) days after replacement, whichever occurs later. The warranty provider’s responsibility with respect to this limited warranty shall be limited solely to repair or replacement, at the provider’s discretion, of any product that fails during normal use of this product in its intended manner and in its intended environment. Inoperability of the product or part(s) shall be determined by the warranty provider. If the product has been discontinued, the warranty provider reserves the right to replace it with a model of equivalent quality and function.

This warranty does not cover damage or defect caused by misuse, neglect, accident, alteration, abuse, improper installation or maintenance.

PARTICULAR PURPOSE. This warranty provides you with specific legal rights, and you may also have additional rights that vary from state to state.

To obtain warranty coverage, contact the Vello Customer Service Department to obtain a return merchandise authorization (“RMA”) number, and return the defective product to Vello along with the RMA number and proof of purchase. Shipment of the defective product is at the purchaser’s own risk and expense.
