11. Power-Cord Protection — Power-supply cords should
be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on

If your unit comes with a 2-core cable without a plug,
make certain live and neutral leads are connected to the
proper terminals. Check that the terminals are screwed
down firmly and no loose strands of wire are present.
IMPORTANT: The wires in this mains lead are coloured
in accordance with the following code:
BLUE : NEUTRAL
BROWN: LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
apparatus may not correspond with the coloured markings
identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as follows.
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured
BLUE or BLACK. The wire which is coloured BROWN
must be connected to the terminal which is marked with
the letter L or colour BROWN or RED.
CAUTION:
To prevent electric shock do not use this (polarized)
plug with an extension cord, receptacle or other outlet
unless the blades can be fully inserted to prevent
blade exposure.

BEFORE ENJOYMENT/POWER SUPPLY
Follow the instructions below for maximum safety:
1. Use a wall outlet for power supply
Be sure to connect the AC line cord to a house-hold wall
outlet. Be certain that the outlet voltage matches the elec-
trical rating of the unit, found on the rear panel name plate.
2. Connecting and removing AC cord
Be sure to connect or disconnect the AC line cord only
after turning off the power switch to prevent possible shock
noise or damage to the speakers.
3. Ventilate the unit well
Never block any ventilation holes at the top and bottom
of the unit. Be sure also to provide ample ventilation space
around the unit. Poor ventilation may result in damage
due to excessive heat.
4. Do not open the cabinet
In order to avoid electric shock or damage to the component,
never open the cabinet. If a foreign object falls inside the
unit by mistake, turn the power off, disconnect the wall
plug, and consult a qualified electrician or your dealer.
5. Installation
Be sure to place the unit in a level and flat place where
it is free from humidity, vibration, high temperature and
not exposed to direct sunlight. Be careful not to place the
unit in a highly enclosed place such as near a wall or on
a bookshelf. A poor ventilation will cause undesirable effects
to the unit.
6. Moving the unit
When transporting, remove the AC cord from the wall outlet
and all other connected cords on the rear panel to prevent
wire breakage and short circuits.
7. If the unit gets wet
If the unit should get wet, immediately disconnect the AC
cord, and consult your dealer or a qualified electrician.
8. Cleaning and maintenance |
Do not use chemicals such as benzine or thinners on the
front panel. Always use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit.
9. Owner's manual
Keep the owner's manual near the unit, and record the
serial number (found on the rear panel) on the cover.
SPEAKERS
Use speaker systems with impedance ratings of 8-16 ohms,
Before hooking up your speaker system, check its imped -
ance, which should be indicated either on the back of the
speaker, or in the speaker instruction manual.
HOOKING UP SPEAKERS
On the rear panel of the RA-810A is one set of speaker
terminals, Connect the speaker leads of the right-hand
speaker to terminals RIGHT, and the speaker leads of the
left-hand speaker to terminals LEFT. Make sure that the
+" speaker lead is connected to the “ +” terminal, and
the “-” lead to the “—” terminal.
Strip 1.0cm (3/8”) of the polyvinyl chloride insulation from
the end of each speaker lead. Twist the exposed strands
tightly, and secure the end with a touch of solder.

1) Power Button
depress this button to turn on the power in the unit. Press
he button a second time to release it and to cut off the power.

If a speaker system is connected to the SPEAKERS termin-
als, however, the sound from those speakers cannot be cut
off, so listening through the headphones only is impossible.
(4) Tone Controls
Two separate tone controls regulate bass and treble respec-
tively: knob labeled BASS is for low frequency range and
TREBLE for high frequency range.
Rotate the knob clockwise to boost the response, and coun-
terclockwise to cut it.
(5) Balance Control
In the central position, sound is produced in equal level
from both speakers, while turning it to the right decreases
the sound from the left speaker, and turning it to left
decreases the sound from the right speaker.
(6) Tape Monitor Selector
Used to listen to a signal supplied from the tape deck. Set
the selector to TAPE position for the signal from a tape
deck connected to TAPE terminals on the rear panel.
Be sure to set this selector to SOURCE when listening to
a source selected by the input selector.
(7) Function Selector
Select the program source to play or record.
PHONO: Turntable connected to the PHONO terminals.
CD: CD player connected to the CD terminals.
TUNER: Tuner connected to the TUNER terminals.
AV/AUX Video cassette recorder or video disc recorder
connected to the AV/AUX terminal. Use this selector with
the Tape Monitor selector at the SOURCE position.
(8) Volume Control
This knob requlates the volume level. Rotate the knob
clockwise to raise the volume level, and counterclockwise
to reduce it. When the knob is tuned fully counterclockwise,
no sound is produced. Always have the volume control set
to minimum before you turn on power.

OPERATION
* Before commencing operation, check to see if all con-
nections are properly made.
* Always be sure to set the volume control to the minimum
position before turning on power.
Listening from turntable
1. Set Tape Monitor selector to SOURCE.
2. Select PHONO on the function selector.
3. Start playing turntable, and raise the volume to the
cesired level.
Listening from compact disc player or tuner
1. Set Tape Monitor selector to source.
2. To listen to a compact disc, set the Input selector to
the CD position; set it to the TUNER position to listen to
radio broadcasts.
3. Play the compact disc or tune in to the desired
station, according to instructions given for the equipment.
4. Raise the volume to the desired level.
Playing back tape deck
1. Set Tape Monitor selector to TAPE position according
to the tape deck you are going to play back.
2. Start playback.
3. Raise the volume to the desired level.
Recording program source
Play the desired program source according to the procedures
mentioned above. The signal from the source will be sent
through TAPE MONITOR OUT terminals on unit's rear
panel. Put the tape deck in the record mode to record the
signal. During recording, operation of Volume control, and
Tone Control will have no effect on the signal being sent
through TAPE MONITOR QUT terminals.
Playback With AV/AUX Equipment
The RA-810A permits connection of one audio-visual or
auxiliary components.
There are one set of audio inputs for a stereo AV component
such as a video disc player or a TV.
This system allows high performance operation for optimal
sound quality such as digital sound from a Hi-Fi video
disc player.
Alternatively the inputs can be used for connection with
an audio equipment such as another compact disc player.
HUM AND NOISE
In any high fidelity installation, hum may be caused by the
interconnection of a turntable, tuner and amplifier, and
speakers as the result of wiring, different grounding or
locations of components.
If hum is experienced with your unit, disconnect everything
but the speakers from the unit. Plug in the turntable and
if hum or howling appears, move the turntable away from
the speakers as much as possible.
Note hum may aiso be induced by defective cable connec-
tions or by running the cables too close to strong Ac field.
When your unit picks up noise during the reception of
broad-casts, causes are mostly due to external objects
such as fluorescent lamps and house appliances using
motor or thermostat, or others that may induce the noise.
Either relocating the unit away from the noise sources or
using an improved outdoor antenna may readily solve the
problem. In the event you cannot find the cause consult
your dealer or a qualified electrician.

VOR DER INBETRIEBNAHME!
STROMVERSORGUNG
Beachten Sie bitte die folgenden Anleitungen, um maximale
Sicherheit zu gewährleisten:
1. Benutzen Sie zur Stromversorgung eine Wandsteckdose.
Vergewissern Sie sich, daß Sie das Netzkabel mit einer
normalen Wandsteckdose verbinden. Prüfen Sie vor dem
Einstecken des Netzsteckers in die Steckdose nach, ob
die auf dem Typenschild an der Rückseite des Gerätes
angegebene Spannung mit der örtlichen Netzspannung
übereinstimmt.
2. Einstecken und Herausziehen des Netzkabeles.
Zur Vermeidung von überlauten Geräuschen oder möglichen
Beschädigungen der Lautsprecher schalten Sie bitte vor
dem Einstecken oder Herausziehen des Netzsteckers den
Netzschalter am Gerät aus.
3. Sorgen Sie für gute Belüftung des Gerätes.
Blockieren Sie niemals die Ventilationsöffnun-gen auf der
Ober und Unterseite des Gerätes. Sorgen Sie auch für
genügend Raum um das Gerät herum. Ungenügende Belüf-
tung kann zu einer Überhitzung des Gerätes führen und
Schäden am Gerät Folge haben.
4. Öffnen Sie bitte das Gerät nicht.
Um einen elektrischen Schlag oder einen Schaden am
Gerät zu vermedien, öffnen Sie nie das Gehäuse. Sollte ein
Fremdkörper in das Geräteinnere fallen, dann schalten Sie
das Gerät ab, ziehen den Netzstecker aus der Wandsteck- |
dose und wenden sich an einen qualifizierten Elektro-
fachmann oder an Ihren Händler.
5. Aufstellung
Stellen Sie das Gerät auf eine waagerechte und ebene
Oberfläche, wo es vor Feuchtigkeit, Vibrationen, hohen
Temperaturen und direkter Sonnenbestrahlung geschützt
ist. Achten Sie darauf, daß Sie das Gerät nicht an einen
Ort aufstellen, wo die Luftzufuhr beeinträchtigt ist, z.B.
nahe einer Wand oder in einem Bücherregal. Eine schlechte
Belüftung kann unerwünschte Störungen des Gerätes zur
Folge haben.
6. Transport des Gerätes |
Ziehen Sie vor dem Transport den Netzstecker aus der
Wandsteckdose und ebenfalls alle mit den Anschlüssen
auf der Geräterückseite verbundenen Kabel heraus, um
Drahtbrüche oder Kurzschlüsse zu vermeiden.
7. Wenn das Gerät naß wird
Sollte das Gerät naß werden, ziehen Sie sofort den
Netzstecker aus der Wandsteckdose. Wenden Sie sich an
Ihren Händler oder an einen qualifizierten Elektrofachmann.
8. Reinigung und Instandhaltung
Verwenden Sie zur Reinigung der Frontplatte des Gerátes
keine Chemikalien wie z.B. Benzin oder Verdünner. Benutzen
Sie dazu ein weiches, trockenes Tuch.
9. Bewahren Sie die Bedienungsanleitung auf.
Bewahren Sie die Bedienungsanleitung in der Nähe des
Gerätes auf, und notieren Sie die Seriennummer (zu finden
auf der Geräterück-seite) auf dem Umschlag der Bedienungs-
anleitung.
LAUTSPRECHER
Das Gerät erlaubt die Benutzung von Lautsprechersystem.
Benutzen Sie Lautsprechersystem mit einer Impedanz von
4-16 Ohm; Vor dem Anschluss ist zu prüfen, ob die Lautspre-
cher die richtige Impedanz besitzen, sie steht meist auf der
Rückseite der Lautsprecher geschrieben, ansonsten schl-
age man in der Bedienungsanleitung nach.
ANSCHLUSS DER LAUTSPRECHER
An der Rückseite des RA-810A befinden sich zwei paare
Lautsprecherbuchsen, “DIRECT” und “REMOTE”, an die
zwei Lautsprechersysteme angeschlossen werden kónnen.
Schleigen Sie die Lautsprecherkabel des rechten
Lautsprechers an die Buchse RIGHT und die
Lautsprecherkabel des linken Lautsprechers an die Buchse
LEFT, Vergewinnssern Sie sich, dag der “ +” Draht mit der
“+” Buchse undder “ —” Draht mitder “—”' Buchse ver-
bunden wird. |
Zum Freilegen der Drähte ist an jedem Ende der
Lautsprecherkabel jeweils 1,0 cm der Isolierung zu entfernen.
Verdrillen Sie die freigelegten Drahtenden gut, und versehen
Sie diese mit Lótzinn, um stabile Drahtenden zu erhalten.

ANSCHLUSS DER KOMPONENTEN
Schließen Sie alle notwendigen Audio-Komponenten an
die Rückseite des Gerätes an, indem Sie Kabel mit
Cinchsteckern verwenden. Beziehen Sie sich dabei auf die
Abbildung, damit alle Verbindungen richtig hergestellt
werden. Achten Sie darauf, daß jeweils der L-Kanal (links)
und der R-Kanal (rechts) des einen Gerätes mit den
entsprechenden Buchsen des anderen Gerätes verbunden
werden. Verbinden Sie auch den Erdungsdraht des Piatten-
spielers mit dem GND-AnschluB am Verstarker.

LAGE UND FUNKTION DER BEDIENUNGS-
ELEMENTE
(1) POWER (Netztaste)
Rasten Sie diese Taste zum Einschalten des Gerätes ein.
Bei nochmaligem Druck in die ausgerastete Stellung wird
das Gerät ausgeschaltet.
(2) POWER (Betriebsanzeige)
Die Lampe leuchtet bei eingeschaltetem Gerät.
(3) PHONES (Kopfhörerpuchse)
Zum Anschluß eines Kopfhörers. Sind die Lautsprecher
dagegen an den SPEAKERS Klemmen angeschlossen, kön-
nen sie nicht abgeschaltet werden, und ausschließliche Wi-
edergabe über den Kopfhörer ist nicht möglich.
(4) BASS, TREBLE (Klangregler) ,
Mit Hilfe von zwei getrennten Klangreglern können Bässe
und Höhen verändert werden: Der mit BASS bezeichnete
Knopf dient für den niedrigen Frequenzbereich, der mit
TREBLE bezeichnete Knopf dient für den hohen Frequenz-
bereich. Zum Anheben der Frequenzen sind die Knöpfe
im Uhrzei-gersinn, zum Absenken im Gegenuhrzeigersinn
zu drehen.
(5) Balanceregler (BALANCE)
In der Mittenstellung geben beide Lautsprecher den Ton mit
demselben Pegel wieder. Drehen nach rechts vermindert die
‘Lautstärke des lin-ken Lautsprechers, Drehen nach links
vermin-dert die Lautstärke des rechten Lautsprechers.
(6) MONITOR (Tonbandmonitorwähler)
Dieser Wähler wird bei Tonbandbetrieb benutzt. Stellen Sie
den Wähler auf TAPE zur Wiedergabe des Cassettendecks
das an die auf der Geräterückseite liegenden TAPE
Buchsen angeschlossen ist.
Achten Sie darauf, daß der Wähler auf SOURCE steht, wenn
Sie eine andere Programmquelle mit dem Eingangswähler
wählen wollen.
(7) FUNCTION (Eingangswähler)
Wählen Sie hiermit die Signalquelle.
PHONO: Zur Wahl des an den PHONO-Buchsen ange-
schlossenen Plattenspielers.
CD: Zur Wahl des an den CD-Buchsen angeschlossenen
CD-Spielers.
TUNER: Zur Wahl des an den TUNER-Buchsen ange-
schlossenen Tuners.
AV/AUX: Zur Wahl eines an den AV/AUX Buchsen
angeschlossenen Videorecorders oder Bildplattenspielers.
Der Eingangswáhler arbeitet nur bei auf SOURCE gestell-
tem Tonbandmonitorwáhl.
(8) Lautstárkeregler (VOLUME)
Drehen im Uhrzeigersinn bewirkt Erhöhung der Lautstärke,
Drehen im Gegenuhrzeigersinn bewirkt Verminderung der
Lautstärke. . | |
Vergewissern Sie sich vor dem Einschalten des Gerátes im-
mer, daB der Lautstárkeregler auf Minimum steht.

AVANT L'EMPLOINALIMENTATION
Suivez les instructions ci-dessous pour un emploi en toute
sécurité de votre appareil.
1. Utilisez la prise murale pour alimenter votre appareil.
Assurez-vous que le cordon secteur soit bien raccordé a
la prise murale. Assurez-vous que la tension de sortie
corresponde bien au régime électrique indiqué sur le
panneau arrière de votre appareil.
2. Branchement ou débranchement du cordon CA
Branchez ou débranchez le cordor-secteur CA après avoir
coupé le courant pour éviter des chocs aux hauts-parleurs.
3. Assurez une bonne ventilation
Ne jamais bouchez ni obstruez les trous de ventilation
sur les parties haute et basse de l'appareil. I! faut aussi
un espace suffisant autour de l'appareil. Une mauvaise
ventilation pourrait provoquer des dommages dûs à une
chaleur excessive.
4. Ne démontez pas l'appareil
Pour évitez tout choc électrique ou de dommage aux
composants, ne démontez pas l'encadrement de l’appareil.
Au cas où un objet é-tranger serait tombé à l’intérieur
de l'appareil par les trous de ventilation, coupez le courant
et débranchez le cordon secteur de la prise murale, puis
faites appel à votre revendeur ou à un électricien qualifié.
5. Installation
Assurez-vous que l'endroit où vous allez installer l'appareil
“ soit uniformément plat, exempt d'hurnidité, de vibrations,
qu’il ne soit pas sujet à des températures extrêmes et
qu'il ne soit pas exposé directement aux rayons du soleil.
N'accolez pas l'appareil contre le mur ou d’autre objet, car
le manque de ventilation lui en résulterait des dommages.

Lorsque vous transportez l'appareil, débranchez le cordon
secteur de la prise murale ainsi que tous les autres
raccordements sur le panneau arrière de l'appareil, vous
éviterez ainsi la rupture d’un fil ou un court-circuit. = «

9. Conservez ce manuel d’instructions
Conservez ce manuel d'instructions près de l'appareil et
inscrivez le numéro de série (sur le panneau arrière) sur
la couverture.
ATTENTION
Pour prévenir les chocs électriques ne pas utiliser
cette fiche polarisée avec un pro-longateur, une prise
de courant ou une autre sortie de courant, sauf si les
lames peuvent être inséréess à fond sans en
laisser aucune partie à découvert.
HAUT-PARLEURS
Utiliser le systeme avec une impédance de 4 A 16 ohms;
Avant la mise en marche, verifiez I'impédance, qui doit etre
indiquée soit derriere le haut- ‘parleur soit dans le manuel
d'instructions.
BRANCHEMENT DES HAUT-PARLEURS |
Deux jeux de bornes pour haut-parleurs se trouvent sur le
panneau arrière du RA-810A , en Direct ou à distance, aux-
quelles deux enceintes de haut-parleurs peuvent être bran-
chées. Branchez le fil du haut-parleur droit sur les bornes
droites et le fil du haut-parleur gauche sur les bornes gauches.
Assurez- vous que le fil “+” est relié à la borne —’ et que
le fil “ —” rejoint la borne ‘
Dénudez 1em (3/8”) d' isolation én chloride polyvinyl au bout
de chaque fil de haut-parleur. Epissez les brins dénudés et
fixez le bout du fil avec un point de soudure.

IMMUTATEURS ET COMMANDES
Poussoir-interrupteur général
e pression entraîne la mise sous tension. Une seconde

(4) Commandes de tonalité
Deux commandes de tonalité séparées assurent le réglage
respectif des fréquences basses et aigues: le bouton BASS
est pour la gamme de basses fréquences et celui marqué
TREBLE est pour celle de fréquences élevées. Tourner le
bouton à droite pour augmenter la réponse et à gauche
pour la diminuer.
(5) Commande d’équilibre
Sur la position centrale, le son produit par les deux haut-
parleurs sort a un niveau égal. Pour baisser le son du haut-
parleur gauche, tournez le bouton sur la droite et pour baisser
le son du haut-pa-leur droit, tourner le bouton sur la gauche.
(6) Sélecteur de contrôle de magnétophone
Il permet d'écouter les signaux du programme provenant du
magnétophone. Placer la sélecteur en position TAPE pour
écouter les signaux du programme provenant du magnéto-
phone branché aux prises TAPE de la face arrière de l’appa-
reil et placer le sélecteur en position.
Ne pas oublier que le sélecteur doit se trouver en position
SOURCE pour bénéficer de l’écoute du programme choisi
par le sélecteur de source.
(7) Sélecteur de fonction
Choix de la source de programme à écouter
PHONO: Platine tourne-disque raccordée aux bornes
PHONO.
CD: Lecteur de CD raccordé aux bornes CD.
TUNER: Tuner raccordé aux bornes TUNER.
AVIAUX: Magnétoscope ou lecteur de vidéodisque
raccordé aux bornes AV/AUX.
Ce sélecteur s'emploie avec le sélecteur de contróle du
magnétophone en position SOURCE.
(8) Commande de volume
Cette commande agit sur le niveau sonore diffusé. Tourner
a droite pour augmenter le niveau, et á gauche pour le
reduire. Prendre soin de réduire le volume au minimum lors
de la mise sous tension de l’appareil.

FONCTIONNEMENT
e Avant de mettre en marche, assurez-vous que tous les
raccordements ont été correctement effectués.
* Avant de mettre l'appareil en marche, assurez-vous que
le bouton du volume soit sur sa position minimale.
Ecoute sur tourne-disques
1. Réglez la commande de réglage de la cassette sur
la position Source. |
2. Placez le sélecteur de fonction sur Phono.
3. Mettez en marche et augmentez le volume.
Ecoute de disque d'un lecteur compact-disc ou d’un
tuner
1. Placer le sélecteur de contrôle magnétophone en
position SOURCE.
2. L'écoute de disques d'un lecteur de disque compact
(CD) est obtenue en plaçant le sélecteur de source en
position CD; Le placer en position TUNER pour écouter
des programmes radiophoniques.
3. Mettre le lecteur compact-disc en fonction ou accorder
une station en appliquant les Instructions qui accompagnent
chaque appareil.
4. Ajuster le volume pour que l'écoute soit agréable.
Ecoute d'un programme sur bande
1. Placer le sélecteur de contróle magnétophone en
position TAPE suivantle magnétophone utilisé pour la lec-
ture du programme preenregistre.
2. Commencer la lecture de la bande.
3. Ajuster le volume pour que l'écoute soit agréable.
Enregistrement d’un programme
Jouer la source de programme désiré en fonction de la
procdure ci-dessus mentionée. Le signal en provenance
de la source apparait aux bornes TAPE MONITOR OUT.
Régler la platine de magnétophone sur le mode d'en-
registrement afin de procéder à l'enregistrement du signal.
Lors de l'enregistrement, les commandes de volume et le
commandes de tonalite n’not pas d'effet sur le signal pré-
sent sur les bornes TAPE MONITOR OUT du panneau
arrière.
Ecoute Sur l'équipement AV/AUX
Le RA-810A permet un branchement sur des éléments
auxiliaires et audio-visuels
ll est équipé de plusieurs entreés audio pour éléments
stéréo AV tels que lecteur vidéo ou TV.
Ce système fournit une performance maximale et un son
de la meilleure qualité, comparable à partir d'un appareil
vidéo haute fidélite
Les entrées peuvent étre utilisées alternativement pour
un branchement sur équipment audio comme par exemple
un lecteur de disque compact.
RONFLEMENT ET BRUIT
Dans l'installation de n'importe quelle chaîne de haute fidé-
lité, des ronflements peuvent être provoqués par le raccor-
dement de la platine, du tuner, de I'amplificateur et des
haut-parleurs par suite d’un mauvais positionnement des
câbles ou d’un niveau irrégulier du secteur lors de l'installa-
tion de la chaine.
Si des ronflements se produisent dans votre chaîne stéréo,
déconnectez tous les appareils. Raccordez la platine et si
des ronflements ou huriements se produisent, éloignez
celle-ci dans la mesure du possible des haut-parleurs.
Notez que des ronflements peuvent être produits par un
raccordement incorrect ou quand la grosseur du câble ne
correspond pas au champ de CA.
Lorsque votre appareil capte des bruits pendant la réception
d'émissions, ceux-ci sont causés le plus souvent par des
objets extérieurs tels que lampes fluorescentes, appareils
ménagers ayant un moteur ou un thermostat, etc…
En installant l'appareil loin de toutes ces sources de bruits
Ou en utilisant une antenne extérieure perfectionée, vous
pourrez facillement résoudre ces problèmes. Dans le cas
OÙ VOUS n'en trouveriez pas la cause, faites appel à votre
revendeur ou à un électricien qualifié.
SELECTEUR DE TENSION
Ceci n’est pas valable pour l’Angleterre, le Canada et les
pays Scandinaves.
L'appareil est pourvu d'un sélecteur de tension de 120V,
220V et 240V. Votre appareil est réglé à l'avance sur la
tension généralement disponible dans sa région de desti-
nation, todtefois, si vous transportez l'appareil dans une
