SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Front Derailleur
For proper and safe performance, read and follow these
instructions carefully.
Note
® This front derailleur is exclusively for a front chainwheel triple
gear. Do not use for a double gear, as poor gear shifting will
result.
® For the chain, be sure to use only the Shimano narrow-type
chain. The wide-type chain cannot be used.

1. Adjust so that the clearance between the chain guide outer
plate and the large gear is 1—3 mm before installing.

2. The outside surface of the (large gear
chain guide should be directly
above and parallel to the large
gear.
3. Secure by using a 5 mm Allen
key.

Tightening torque:
50 kgfcm
Adjustment and cable securing
1. Low adjustment
Set so that the clearance between
the chain guide inner plate and
the chain is 0—0.5 mm.

2. Cable securing
While forcefully pulling the inner cable,
tighten the holding bolt at a torque of 50
kgfcm to secure. Tighten by using a 5 mm
Allen key. After taking up the initial slack in
the cable, reattach to the front derailleur.
3. Top adjustment
Set the chain guide outer plate to the
smallest gap at which the chain guide
does not contact the chain.

4. Tension adjustment of the cable
After completion of 1—3, move the shift lever to check the
shifting.
(This also applies if shifting becomes difficult during use.)
If the chain falls to the crank | Tighten the top adjustment bolt
side. clockwise (about 1/4 turn).
If shifting is difficult from the | Loosen the top adjustment bolt
intermediate gear to the larger | counterclockwise (about 1/8
gear. turn).
If shifting is difficult from the | Loosen the low adjustment bolt
intermediate gear to the small | counterclockwise (about 1/4
gear. turn).
If there is interference of the | Tighten the top adjustment bolt
chain and front derailleur Inner | clockwise (about 1/8 turn).
plate at the largest gear of the
front chainwheel.
If there is interference of the | Loosen the top adjustment bolt
chain and front derailleur outer | counterclockwise (1/8 turn).
plate at the largest gear of the
front chainwheel.
If the chain falls to the bottom | Tighten the low adjustment bolt
bracket side. clockwise (1/2 turn).
