Raymarine Autohelm ST5000 Operation And Installation

Raymarine Autohelm ST5000 is a permanently installed autopilot for hydraulic steered power boats. This comprehensive system consists of four essential units: a permanently mounted control head, a reversing hydraulic gear pump, a remote fluxgate compass for precise heading information, and a rudder position transducer. The control head is SeaTalk compatible, enabling data sharing with other Autohelm SeaTalk instruments. This allows for automatic adjustment of autopilot gain, track information, boat speed, and compatibility with additional fixed and handheld autopilot control units.

Frequently asked questions

The rudder position transducer is essential for installations with a hydraulic steering system. It precisely measures the rudder angle, compensating for hydraulic slip and ensuring accurate steering performance.

You can change the heading by using the +1, -1, +10, and -10 degree keys on the control head. These keys allow you to make course changes in increments of 1 and 10 degrees.

'Track Control' allows the autopilot to follow a predefined track set up on a GPS, Decca, or Loran navigation receiver, automatically compensating for tidal streams and leeway.
