INPUTS -

The MT-600Q amplifier allows you to use two types of input connectors per channel, the EuroBlock input connectors and 1/4” TRS female jack that will accept balanced audio signal. Use these connections to connect the output signal from a mixer, cross-over or EQ to the

MT-600Q amplifier. A balanced connection is recommended for cable runs longer than 20ft. Please follow the pin configuration described below for proper connections.

OUTPUTS -

BINDING POST/BANANA PLUG:

Connect your speakers to the binding post outputs on the rear of the amplifier. The speaker wire may be connected by bare wire (directly connected, usually for permanent connections), banana plug or spade connector. Connections are made to channel one and channel two outputs for Stereo Mode or across the red terminals of channel one and channel two for Mono Bridge Mode; please follow the same connections aforementioned on the channel three and channel four for Stereo Mode or Mono Bridge Mode.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Although a speaker will operate with the positive and negative leads plugged into either terminal on the amplifier binding post, be sure to plug the negative lead into the black terminal and positive lead into the red terminal. Ensuring proper polarity will avoid speakers being out of phase that can cause a loss of bass response.

BANANA PLUG: (Figure 5)

When connecting your speakers to the amplifier using banana plug, be sure that the red and black caps on the binding post are completely screwed in. Insert the banana plug into the caps of the binding post, be sure that the banana plug is inserted securely to avoid the risk of popping out.

BARE WIRE CONNECTION: (Figure 6)

When connecting your speakers to the amplifier using bare wire, unscrew the red and black caps on the binding post, be sure not to completely remove or unscrew the red and black caps. Strip back the wire insulation ½” (13mm). Insert the bare wire into the hole that was revealed by unscrewing the binding post cap. After inserting the wire into the binding post hole, screw the binding post cap down on the wire. To reduce the risk of shock or damage to your amplifier, be sure that the wire connected to one binding post does not come in contact with that of another.

SPADE CONNECTOR: (Figure 7)

When connecting your speakers to the amplifier using spade connector, unscrew the red and black caps on the binding post, be sure not to completely remove or unscrew the red and black caps. Insert the spade connector into the binding post and tighten the caps down on the spade connector. To reduce the risk of shock or damage to your amplifier, be sure that the wire connected to one binding post does not come in contact with that of another.

MONO BRIDGE CONNECTIONS: (Figure 8)

Mono bridge operation connections will follow the above descriptions, however, when operating in mono bridge operation the speaker connections will run between the two positive (red) leads. Use channel two (or channel four) positive output terminal for the speaker's negative connection and the channel one (or channel three) positive output terminal for the speaker's positive connection.

OPERATING MODES

STEREO OPERATION :

Connect your inputs into channel one and channel two, also channels three and four of the amplifier. Connect your speakers to the outputs on the rear of the amplifier. Be sure that your front gain controls are turned down to their lowest level (fully counterclockwise). Turn your amplifier on. Turn your input source level up. Use your front gain controls to regulate the output volume. Be sure not to raise the volume to the clip level, however an intermittent clip signal is acceptable.

MONO BRIDGE OPERATION :

Be sure your amplifier and all other audio equipment are powered down. Press the Bridge button. Connect input signals to channel one and three. Connect your speaker across the red output binding post on the rear of your amplifier. Turn your equipment on (your amplifier should always be the last item you turn on). Apply an input source signal to your amplifier. Use the channel one and channel three gain control to regulate your amplifier output.

Important Precautions Introduction Front Panel Rear Panel Set Up Operating Modes

Protection

Specifications

PROTECTION

1. The MT-600Q’s output circuitry is fully protected from short circuits. An ultrasonic network decouples RF from the output and helps keep the amplifier stable with reactive loads.

2. The MT-600Q’s external heatsinks do most of the work in getting heat away from the amplifier, in normal operation. A rear mounted variable speed fan provides extra cooling of the amplifiers internal circuitry as needed. Normally, at low to moderate signal levels, the fan runs at a low speed idle. If the internal temperature rises above a set level then the fan switches to a higher speed to remove more heat from the inside. If, in the unlikely event the heatsinks should reach 194 degrees Fahrenheit, the amplifier will mute, until it cools down enough for safe operation. Make sure there is adequate ventilation around the heatsinks if you plan on rack mounting the MT-600Q in an enclosed space.

3. The MT-600Q is fully protected from shorts, opens, over-current, and over-voltage. A relay disconnects the outputs under any of these fault conditions and automatically returns to normal operation once the fault is removed.

4. The amplifier is stable into loads as low as 2 ohms (stereo mode), and 4 ohms (bridged mode) when used in a fixed or permanent installation. However, for continuous operation of all channels at mid to high signal levels, the amplifier should be operated with a minimum load of 4 ohms per channel in stereo mode and 8 ohms per channel in bridged mode, otherwise the overload and thermal protection circuitry may cycle the amplifier on and off as it protects itself.
