General safety instructions

Safety instructions

When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including:

 appliance has been used for anything other than its intended use.

Incorrect operation and use can damage the appliance and cause injury to the user.

 This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance or supply cord.

Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 years old and supervised.

 Do not use the appliance if it has malfunctioned, been dropped or damaged in anyway. If the unit has been damaged take the unit for examination and or repair by an authorised service agent to avoid a hazard.

 Do not attempt to repair or modify the appliance, use the appliance for unintended applications or use accessory attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, electrical shock, or risk of injury to persons.

 Do not immerse or expose the appliance, plug or the power cord in water or any other liquid for any reason.

 The appliance is intended for domestic use only. Industrial or commercial use will void the warranty. The supplier cannot be held responsible for injury or damage if the

Appliance specific safety

Warning: This appliance does not have a thermostat to control the surrounding temperature. Do not use in enclosed areas or in areas occupied by persons not capable of leaving the area on their own.

(Should the heater be tilted or fall over , the auto cut off switch will activate).

 Outdoor use only. Locate the appliance in a well ventilated area and at least 1metre away from walls, surfaces or materials that could be affected by heat.

Do not use the appliance;

 In a tent, canopy or similar covering.

 In the surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming pool

 Where flammable gas, petrol or other substances are stored.

 Immediately above or below an electrical socket.

 As a room or sauna heater.

 Do not use to dry clothing or other materials.

 This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote control.

The appliance could be accidently covered and then switched on by the remote device.

 Assemble the appliance according to the instructions and extend the head at least

1.8 metres from the floor

WARNING: This appliance must be connected to an earthed electrical power supply. The green/yellow conductor in the supply cord must be connected to the Earth terminal in the plug. The power supply must have an Earth connection.

WARNING. The appliance must be supplied through a residual current device (RCD) with a 30 mA rated residual operating current.

Precautions should be followed for safe cable management and connection to the power supply

If a new mains plug needs to be fitted follow the fitting instructions supplied with good quality

BS1363A plugs. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician or appliance repair agent.

 Remove and safely dispose of the old plug

 Connect the brown lead to the live terminal “L” in the new plug

 Connect the Blue lead to the

Neutral “N” terminal

 Connect the green/yellow lead to the earth “E” terminal

 Recommended fuse: 13A.

If an extension cable is required, it must have an earth conductor. To avoid overheating the extension cable should be rated no less than

13A and be fully unwound before use

Before First Use

Read all of the instructions carefully before using the appliance.

WARNING: Do not connect the plug

to the power supply outlet or switch on until the appliance is assembled.

 Unpack the box with care, keep all the packaging materials until you are satisfied everything is present and in working order.

 Do not discard any packaging until all accessories have been found.

 Inspect the appliance before use. The appliance, cord and plug must not have any damage that could affect operation.

Note: The appliance may emit a little smoke and/or odour when it is initially used. This is normal and does not indicate a fault.

Appliance Assembly

1) The lower tube has external threads cut into both ends.

Connect the lower tube to the base by screwing it clockwise.

2) Align the hole in the table with the lower tube and push the table down over the tube.

3) The upper tube is located inside the middle tube. Unscrew the plastic clamp and pull the upper tube up then tighten the plastic clamp.

Connect the middle tube to the lower tube

4) Feed the power connector and supply cord through the base and tubes.

5) Raise the table past the joint in the lower and middle tubes to the desired height.

6) Secure the Table on the middle

Pole by tightening the plastic collar.

7) Secure the collar in place by tightening the clamp locking screw.

8) Connect the power connector to the plug attached to the heater head. Secure the plug and socket with the clamp provided. Note the markings.

10) IMPORTANT: Set the height of the heater head above 1.8m before fixing the supply cable to the base.

IMPORTANT: The cable clamps must be released before increasing the height of the heater head.

The power cord must be secured to the base using the clamps and screws provided.

9) The heater head can be fitted to the upper pole by aligning the locations and then secure using the two 8mm screws.

Operating the appliance

Caution: Although the appliance is shower proof, do not use the appliance when it is raining or in wet conditions.

 Connect the power cable to a 13 amp earthed supply that is located in a safe, dry area.

 Ensure that the plug and power socket are accessible when the appliance is operating. This allows the plug to be removed or the power socket switched off if required

 The two switches on the heater head are used to control the three heat setting.

(I) = 900W

(II) = 1200W

(I & II) = 2100W

 Always disconnect the power cable from the electrical supply, when the appliance is not in use.

 After use, allow the appliance to cool before transportation and store in a dry location.

Care and maintenance

Caution: The surfaces of the appliance become hot during use and remain hot for a period of time after use.

Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning or storage.

 When disconnected from the electrical supply, clean the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth. Never use corrosive or solvent cleaners, never spray or immerse the appliance in water.

 Any maintenance or repairs including replacing the halogen tube should only be carried out by a qualified electrician or by a recommended service centre.

 Once the appliance has been used , clean the appliance and store in a dry, safe area. Cover the appliance after use to prevent the appliance from rusting.

 Do not store the appliance outside as this may cause the appliance to rust or water ingress may damage the appliance.

UK and EU Guarantee

Your new Andrew James product comes with a 24 month guarantee and a 2 year fixed warranty, effective from receipt confirmation.

Your receipt or order number is required as proof of purchase date so it is imperative that you keep it safe. This guarantee only applies if the item has been used solely for the use intended, and all instructions have been followed accordingly. Please note this product is for domestic use only and is not for commercial use.

Abuse of your product will invalidate the guarantee. Returned goods can only be accepted if repackaged properly within the original colour product box, and presented with the original receipt of sale/order number. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Returned products must be cleaned and returned to us in as close to delivery condition as possible.

If your product develops a problem within the first 12 months of the fixed warranty, we will pay all shipping costs to have it returned to us. After 12 months the customer will be liable for the cost of returning the product to us. We will then pay to have the repaired/ replaced item shipped back to the customer.

If you wish to return your item for a full refund, you have the right to do so within the first 7 days.

Local authorities, retailers and collection organisations may provide for separate collection of elec­trical products, batteries and packaging.

Note: The guarantee does not cover any defect arising from improper use, mechanical damage, water ingress or repair attempts made by third-parties. Also, the guarantee does not cover normal wear and tear of individual parts.
