Operating Instructions
1. Push to open the battery cover. Insert two 1.5V batteries into the battery compartment J according to polarity (+) and (-) indication marked on the housing.
2. Tune the in ear monitor to the same frequency as the transmitter so that there is no interference in the local area for the receiver and transmitter. Use table 1 to set the rotary switch I to the correct setting.
3. Screw on the earpiece.
4. When switching on the power, the LED E lights to indicate that RF signal is being received.
5. Adjust the output level with the volume rotary control C .
6. When the LED E flashes this indicates that the batteries are flat. Replace batteries or if using rechargeables, connect to charging input.
7. To recharge the batteries, connect the cable as per figure 2. Full battery charging time is approx 10 hours
(for 1800mAH batteries).

System Examples
The C 8856A units receive signal directly from C 8872C or C 8875C transmitters (fig. 3 & 4). This is especially useful for tour guides requiring mobile communication with a group of people. Alternatively, the C 8856A units receive signal from C 8854 desktop transmitter (fig 5 & 6). This is useful for fixed installations utilising recorded music or vocal tracks. Additional transmitters may be set up on separate frequencies allowing multiple language soundtracks for art galleries, museums, tourist venues etc.
See table 1 for information on selecting frequency channels.

Fig. 2: Connecting the personal receivers to the charging circuit.
Up to 5 personal receivers may be charged at the same time.
Charging current is supplied via an external power supply.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
DO NOT CONNECT THE
CHARGER CABLE WHEN
USING NON-RECHARGEABLE
(DRY CELL / ALKALINE)
BATTERIES IN THE RECEIVER.
PRECAUTIONS:
* AVOID EXTREMELY DIRTY OR DUSTY ENVIRONMENTS.
* AVOID AREAS WHERE THERE IS EXTREMELY HIGH HUMIDITY.
* TWO OR MORE WIRELESS MICROPHONES (HANDHELD AND/OR LAVALIER) WHICH
TRANSMIT AT THE SAME FREQUENCY CAN NOT BE USED IN THE SAME LOCATION AS
THIS WILL CAUSE INTERFERENCE IN THE PERSONAL IN-EAR MONITOR.
Troubleshooting:
1. Signal dropouts and noise may be suddenly encountered by interruption from outside if there is too long a distance between microphone and receiver, or battery power is low. In such a case, adjust receiver antenna or change battery.
2. Do not drop the in-ear monitor.
3. Remove the battery from in-ear monitor if not in use for a long time. This will prevent damage that a defective "leaking" battery may cause.

Suitable transmitters for use with C 8856A
In-Ear Monitoring System:
The following information is provided as a guide for using the C 8872C and C 8875C transmitters as part of a whole system. Please note that these transmitters are available separately and are not included with the C 8856A In-Ear Monitor or C 8854 Desktop Transmitter.
C 8872C Handheld Transmitter:
Operation: (See Fig. 7 for details)
1. Push to open the battery cover.
2. Insert 2 x 1.5V AA batteries into the battery holder according to polarity (+) and (-) indicator marked on the battery housing.
3. Replace battery cover.
4. After setting the chosen frequency to the same frequency as the receiver, push the power switch to
"ON". The LED indicator will flash once to indicate the unit is operational.
5. Push the power button to "OFF" when mic is not in use. Remove the batteries from the unit if not to be used for a long time. This will prevent damage to the unit that a defective "leaking" battery may cause.
6. If the LED indicator is permanently illuminated, the battery needs to be replaced.
7. If the LED indicator does not flash at all when first switched on then check batteries are inserted correctly and batteries are not completely flat.
8. To recharge the batteries, connect the recharging cable as per figure 2 (transmitters can also be charged via C 8858 5 port charging module). Full battery charging time is approx 10 hours (for 1800mAH batteries).
C 8875C Lavalier Beltpack Transmitter:
A range of microphones and pickups are available for the belt pack transmitter including tie clip mic, lecture type headset, aerobics type headset, and guitar pickup. The belt pack transmitter is equipped with a line/mic switch.
Operation: (See Fig. 8 for details)
1. Push to open the battery cover.
2. Insert 2 x 1.5V AA batteries into the battery holder according to polarity (+) and (-) indication marked on the battery housing.
3. Replace Battery Cover.
4. Connect the microphone or guitar pickup to the unit.
5. Set the line / mic switch to match the sound source (line / mic). Line is for guitar/instrument pick up.
6. After setting the chosen frequency to the same frequency as the receiver, push the power switch to
“ON”. The LED indicator will flash to indicate the unit is operational.
7. Push the power button to “OFF” when mic is not used, and remove the battery in beltpack if not used for a long time. This will prevent damage to the unit that a defective "leaking" battery may cause.
8. If the LED indicator is permanently illuminated, the battery needs to be replaced.
9. If the LED indicator does not flash at all when first switched on then check batteries are inserted correctly and batteries are not completely flat.
10. To recharge the batteries, connect the recharging cable as per figure 2 (transmitters can also be charged via C 8858 5 port charging module). Full battery charging time is approx 10 hours (for 1800mAH batteries).
