Q & A

1. Can not connect to server.

( Check your network condition and make sure your network settings are correct and that all your installed equipment is properly connected and individually working. (When using modem, check whether other programs are working properly)

( Check and make sure that the IP address of Server (Kollector Security

Terminal) has been entered correctly. Make sure the server supports the type of network connection used. Refer to the notes on error message for any error messages shown.

2. System is being disconnected frequently during connection.

( Check the connection time limit setting a the server (Kollector Security

Terminal) is set properly and time-out does not occur. At the server, the connection time limit and connection time with no image transmission can be controlled. If both options are not selected, then check to see if the network is working properly. Frequent disconnection may occur from adverse network condition and/or network card is not operating properly. Please note that the system disconnects automatically in 5 minutes after the replay of recorded files is done.

3. “Requested channel is not being recorded.” appears even during the actual recording is resuming.

( Channels being recorded by ‘watch mode’ or ‘security mode’ is not accessible from clients with Kollector Dial-up. To connect to those channels from

Dial-up clients, deactivate ‘watch mode’ or ‘security mode’ on the Server

(Kollector Security Terminal).

4. Changes made to registered information for installed camera locations on Security Terminal are not immediately updated in the client server.

( The registered information for installed camera locations is transmitted and updated to the client server when files are being recorded. The information is updated in the client server when new recordings are started after changes are made to the registered information or when recordings restart every hour.

5. Replaying images skip momentarily after a pause followed by replay.

( Kollector Dial-up continuously receives images transmitted from Security

Terminal even during a pause. The stored images during a pause are instantly replayed at once after the pause, causing instant skips.

6. During VOD and file playback, the image replay resumes and does not stop at the beginning of the hourly video clip when <go to beginning> is selected.

( To stop at the beginning of the hourly video clip, select <pause> after selecting <go to beginning>.

7. A message “Requested function is Locked by another user. Retry at least 10second later.” appears and <Pan/Tilt/Zoom/Preset> buttons are deactivated after Pan/Tilt/Zoom/Preset functions are selected.

( <Pan/Tilt/Zoom/Preset> buttons are automatically deactivated when the functions are used by another user. The function lock is released after every 10 seconds. Try the functions after waiting for 10 seconds or until the buttons are reactivated.

8. Pink screen appears for a while when changing the screen mode.

( Pink screens may appear on computers with VGA that does not fully support

Direct X controls. If the discoloration is serious, deselect ‘Use DirectDraw’ in

“Option / Mics”. The pink screen will disappear while system load may slightly increase.

9. On the full screen mode, images on the screen are distorted.

( There could be two reasons.

First, VGA card does not fully support Direct X. In this case, deselect ‘Use

DirectDraw’ in “Option / Mics”.

In another, VGA card supports Direct X but the wrong setting has been selected.

In this case, go to VGA card ‘properties’ and check whether the screen refresh rate is too high. Lower the level down to 60Hz.

10. When executing Kollector Dial-up, system reboots without showing any message.

( At the start of Kollector Dial-up, Direct X is initialized. Direct X can be used only when VGA driver Kollector Dial-up automatically deactivates Direct X when the system is abnormally down. Make sure to deselect “use DirectDraw” in the option list for systems with VGA that does not fully support Direct X.

Reference

CAUTION: Careful selection of the proper cable is essential to obtain the best performance from this equipment. Vicon assumes no responsibility for poor performance when cables other than those recommended are installed. In all cases, coaxial cable impedance should be 75 ohms.

Materials

Use only cable with a pure copper center conductor. Do not use cable with either a copperplated steel or an aluminum center conductor because these do not transfer signals effectively in the frequency range used in CCTV networks. A center conductor with low DC resistance is required for effective CCTV operation. Solid-core bare copper conductor is best suited to video applications, except where flexing occurs. If the coaxial cable will be subjected to flexing during normal use, select a cable with a stranded center conductor. The preferred dielectric material is cellular (foam) polyethylene. It has better electrical characteristics than solid polyethylene, but is more vulnerable to moisture. Therefore, use only solid polyethylene dielectric cable with a heavy exterior insulation in applications subject to moisture.

Cable Types

The most commonly used cable types are RG-59/U and RG-11/U. Each is actually a family of cables with widely varying electrical characteristics, some of which are not suitable for

CCTV applications.

Choose a cable type by referring to the characteristics and maximum distances listed below.

The maximum distance for best picture refers to the distance between the Receiver and the

Transmitter. The characteristics of the cables in this table should be used as a guideline when cables other then Belden are used. Materials and construction must follow the guidelines above. Note that “BC” refers to bare copper and “TC” refers to tinned copper.
