IMPORTANT SAFETY

INSTRUCTIONS

1 Read all instructions before using.

2 Do not touch hot surfaces. Use the handle.

3 To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plug, or your kettle in water or other liquid.

4 Close supervision is necessary when using your kettle by or near children.

5 Unplug your kettle from the power outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Let it cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning your kettle.

6 Do not operate your kettle with a damaged cord or plug or after your kettle malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return your kettle to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.

7 The use of accessory attachments not recommended by your kettle's manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.

8 Do not use outdoors.

Flat size (W×H): 20 × 8 in. (508 × 203.2 mm)

Folded size (W×H): 5 × 8 in. (127 × 203.2 mm)

9 Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter or let it touch hot surfaces.

10 Do not place your kettle on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.

11 This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.

12 Do not attempt to modify or extend the power cord.

13 Do not handle the plug with wet hands. This could result in an electric shock.

14 Unplug the power cord by holding the plug, never by pulling the cord.

15 Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle.

16 The provided power cord is short to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or tripping over the cord.

18 If you use an extension cord, make sure that:

• The marked electrical rating of the extension cord is at least as great as the electrical

rating of your kettle.

• The extension cord is not draped over a counter or table top where children can pull it

or trip over it.

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact an electrician to have a polarized outlet installed. Do not attempt to modify the plug.

Additional safety concerns

1 Before connecting your kettle to the power outlet, make sure that the voltage indicated on the bottom of your kettle and base corresponds with the voltage in your home. If this is not the case, contact your dealer and do not use your kettle.

2 The attached base must not be used for any purpose other than its intended use.

3 Even though boil-dry protection is built into your kettle, we recommend that you do not operate your kettle without water to avoid damaging the heat elements.

4 If you try to operate your kettle without water, the boil-dry protection automatically switches it off. If this should occur, let your kettle cool before filling it with cold water.

5 To prevent injury or damage from an overturned kettle, make sure that your kettle is used on a firm and flat surface where children cannot touch it.

6 Always make sure that you pour boiling water slowly and carefully without tipping your kettle too fast.

7 Be careful when opening the lid for refilling if your kettle is hot.

8 Use the handle to avoid touching the hot surface of your kettle.

9 Use extreme caution when moving your kettle if it contains hot water.

10 Your kettle is not a toy. Do not let the children play with it.

11 Avoid contacting steam from the spout when water is boiling or just after your kettle has switched off. Do not remove the lid too soon.

12 Unplug your kettle from the power outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Let it cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning your kettle.

13 Always make sure that the lid is closed and that you do not lift it while the water is boiling. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during use.

14 Do not move your kettle while it is on.

15 Only use your kettle with the provided base.

16 If your kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

17 Your kettle is intended to be used in household and similar environments.

18 The kettle is for household use only. Do not use outdoors.

19 If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.

20 To disconnect, turn any control to “off,” then remove plug from wall outlet.

21 Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.

22 The kettle can only be used with the base provided.

23 Always make sure that the lid is closed and do not lift it while the water is boiling.

FILLING YOUR ELECTRIC KETTLE

Notes:

• Before using your electric kettle for the first time, clean your kettle by boiling two full kettles of water, then discarding the water.

• Never fill the kettle with any liquid other than water.

1 Place the base on a flat, heat resistant surface, as close as possible to a power outlet.

2 Remove the kettle from the base, then open the lid by pushing the lid button on the handle.

3 Fill with the desired amount of water.

Notes:

• Always fill the kettle between the minimum

(0.5L) and maximum (1.7L) marks. Too little water results in the kettle turning off before the water has boiled. Too much water results in boiling water ejecting.

• Make sure that the lid is firmly in place before connecting the power cord to the outlet.

4 Close the lid and place the kettle on the base, making sure that the kettle contacts the base completely.

Boil-dry protection

If you try to operate the kettle without water, the boil-dry protection automatically turns it off. If this should occur, let your kettle cool before filling with cold water.

CLEANING AND MAINTAINING YOUR ELECTRIC

KETTLE

• Always unplug the power cord and let your kettle cool down completely before cleaning.

• Never immerse your kettle, cord, or base in water, or let moisture come in contact with these parts.

• Do not use chemicals, steel wool, or abrasive cleaners to clean the outside of your kettle. These substances can scratch the surface or fade the color.

Removing mineral deposits

1 Fill your kettle with three cups of white vinegar and the remainder with water and let it stand overnight. Do not boil.

2 Empty the solution from your kettle. Remove remaining stains with a damp cloth.

3 Boil two full kettles of water, then discard the water.

Cleaning the outside

Wipe the outside of your kettle with a damp cloth or sponge.
