CROQUET GAME RULES

COURT DIMENSIONS (100’ X 50’)

1. The standard croquet court is 100' x 50'. Please adjust the court to fit your playing area.

2. Stakes and wickets are placed 6' from each side and as marked on the court diagram.

Game Rules

1. Players take turns in the order of the corresponding colors on the stakes.

2. Place your ball halfway between the starting stake and the first wicket and try to hit it through. You earn a bonus strike for each wicket your ball passes through; otherwise your turn will be over.

3. Pass the ball through the wickets in the proper order. The ball must be struck not pushed, and always with the full face of the mallet. No ball can croquet or be croqueted until it passes through the first wicket.

4. Player gets 1 additional stroke after driving the ball through a wicket or hitting the turning stake. Player gets 2 additional strokes if the ball roquets. Player driving the ball through both the first and second, or the sixth and seventh wickets gets 2 additional strokes.

5. Every stroke counts no matter how slightly the ball moves. If a player wholly misses the ball, it still counts as a stroke.

6. If your ball croquets an opponent's ball and both balls pass through a wicket, you earn

2 additional strokes but not the wicket. If a bonus stroke is used to croquet, the wicket counts and only 1 additional stroke is earned. (The croqueted ball earns the wicket but is not allowed a bonus stroke.)

CROQUET GAME RULES

7. You may not roquet an opponent's ball a second time until you ball has:

a) hit another ball, b) passed through a wicket, or c) hit a stake.

8. The second bonus stroke after a roquet is an ordinary stroke played from where the striker ball comes to rest.

9. If a roqueting ball touches one or more balls, it may croquet as many balls as it strikes, but this allows for only 1 additional stroke. If one of the several balls hit is croqueted, all of the balls must be croqueted.

10. The team first to hit the final stake with all balls wins the game.

Terms

1. Roquet - To have a ball touch another ball directly or indirectly by a mallet stroke. 2 additional bonus strokes are awarded by roqueting.

2. Croquet - To strike one's own ball when in contact with a roqueted ball. The player is allowed to put his foot on his own ball, driving it against the other and send it in any direction with the mallet.

3. Roquet Croquet - Similar to Croquet, but the player may send both balls in any direction by striking his ball.

4. Ricochet - Roqueting two or more balls by one strike of the mallet.

5. Rover - When a ball has been through all wickets before striking the starting/finishing stake, the player can make his ball a rover to aid his team or hinder the opponent team. The rover ball may roquet any ball in play, once per turn, unless it passes through a wicket.

The rover ball cannot roquet a ball twice in a row.
