When you specify a new n management VLAN, your HTTP connection tto the device will be lost. IPv4Co onfiguration n When asssigning IP ad ddress make e sure that the chosen IP address is u unused and belongs b to the sam me IP subne et as your wirred LAN, otherwise you will w lose the cconnection to o the device fro om your currrent PC. If yo ou enable the e DHCP clien nt, the browsser will lose the connectio on after savin ng, because the IP addre ess assigned d by the DHC CP server is not n predictab ble. IP method – specifyy IP reception n method: IP P addresses can c either be e retrieved frrom a DHCP server or config gured manua ally: Stattic – the IP address a mustt be specified d manually. At all times, it is the responsibility of the end-user to ensure that the installation complies with local radio regulations. The APC device can operate in four wireless modes: Access Point (autoWDS), Access Point (iPoll 2), Station (auto iPoll 2) and Station (ARPNAT). Figure 13 – Device Wireless Operating Mode Depending on the wireless operation mode selection some of the displayed configuration parameters will differ (e.g. security or advanced wireless settings). Operating mode – select wireless operation mode: Access Point (auto WDS) – enables the APC function as an access point to connect multiple wireless clients. Auto WDS mode allows connect wireless clients with and without WDS enabled (the packet forwarding at layer 2 level). Access Point (iPoll 2) – enables APC radio function as access point for point-to-multipoint solution. The Access Point communicates with Station in iPoll 2 protocol, other clients requests will be not accepted. Station (auto iPoll 2) – with this wireless mode the APC will act as Station and will automatically turn on iPoll 2 mode if detects that selected AP is operating in iPoll 2 protocol. The Counttry selection determines the available e channels and a transmisssion power le evel based on o regulatoryy restrictions in the operating country. The countryy has been selected on th he first step of o the APC unit's u installattion, though can be updated if required. IEEE mo ode – speciffy the wirelesss network mode. m Tx powe er (dBm) – set s the unit’s transmitting power at wh hich the device will transm mit data. The e larger the dista ance, the higher transmit power is req quired. To se et transmit po ower level usse the slider or enter position will change the value e manually. When W entering the transm mit power va alue manuallyy, the slider p c accordin ng to the ente ered value. The T maximum m transmit po ower level iss limited to th he allowed va alue by country in which devvice is operatting regulatory agency. Channe el – displays the channel at which the e AP is opera ating, or indiccates that autochannel function is used. Cllick the butto on and the ch hannel selecttion window will be displa ayed: Channe el width – Th he default channel bandw width for 802..11 radio is 20MHz. 2 The 802.11n allo ow channel bonding in such s way the e total channel width beco omes 40MHzz. el table – select the chan nnel(s) at whiich the Acces ss Point will operate. If m more than one Channe channel is selected, then autochannel feature e will be ena abled. Automatic channel selection alllows AP to selectt a channel which w is not used u by any other wireles ss device or,, if there are no free chan nnels available e - to select a channel wh hich is least occupied. During the startup of the device, when the drivers of the Ethernet interfaces are loaded, the discovery daemon is started. The daemon suspends startup process for 3 seconds and waits for ICMP "echo request" packet of length 369 bytes. If the packet received, the discoveryd resets the device to default configuration. It is recommended to connect PC to the device via switch, as depending on PC OS settings, the ARP table might be flushed during wired link status change (connecting the device that will be reset). Steps to reset to default settings: Step 1. Power off the APC device. Step 2. Obtain the device MAC address. Step 3. Connect a PC to the same physical subnet as the device. Step 4. Execute 'arp -s' command to assign the IP address (IP address should be from the same subnet as PC) to the device MAC address: arp -s <IP address to assign> <device MAC address> Note that syntax of MAC address differs depending on OS: Step 5. Linux OS: AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF Windows OS: AA-BB-CC-DD-EE-FF Start ping the device: For Linux users: ping <IP address> -s 369 For Windows users: ping <IP address> -l 369 -t -w 0.2 Step 6. Power up APC device and wait about 30sec or more (depending on device hardware). Step 7. Stop pinging the device, and let the device boot as usual.
