PLL POCSAG NUMERIC DISPLAY PAGER

USER'S MANUAL FOR POCSAG NUMERIC PAGER

1. Self Test

When user puts battery in the battery compartment, Pager starts self-test

with alert tone and vibration.

2. Display Indicators

- Message Protected: Message is saved.

- Service area indicator: Antenna symbol indicates that the pager is within the service area.

- Duplicated Message: If you receive a page that same page is already within your beeper, the duplicated message symbol will display.

- Automatic Power On/Off: The pager shuts on and off at the selected time of the user.

- Alarm: The pager will alert you at the time the user has selected.

- Alert Mode: There are three kinds of alerts.

1) Chirp alert: Short beep tones

2) Audio alert

3) Vibrating alert: Vibration (no alert tone)

- Low battery: It needs replacement if battery level is low

- Message Continuation: When the message is longer than 12 characters the

message continuation symbol is displayed.

3. Function description

① Pager on from the off screen

In the pager off screen, pressing any button more than 2 seconds will turn your

Pager on. A start-up screen is displayed momentarily followed by a short beep alert. While the pager is on, the standby screen is displayed.

② Turning your Pager Off a. From the standby screen, press and release the Mode button until

"PAGER OFF” is displayed. b. Press the Read button to turn the pager off. The off screen will be displayed without any icons.

③ Receiving and Reading Message

Your Pager can receive up twenty numeric messages.

When a message is received, your Pager alerts (vibration, audio, or chirp) for eight seconds.

In the corner of screen, there will be a number. The number indicates how many numeric messages were received. a. Press any button to stop the alert.

b. Press the Read button to display the numeric message. c. Press the Read button again to display the second screen of the message.

④ Message continuation

When the numeric message is longer than 12 characters, the message continuation symbol is displayed.

When the message continuation symbol is displayed, press the read button again to display the reminder of the numeric message.

⑤ Message Full

When the Pager receives up to 20 messages, “--FULL —” is displayed for 4 seconds. If a new message is received, the oldest unlocked message will be replaced with the new message.

⑥ . Unread messages / No page a. Unread message

If the messages are unread "UNREAD" will be displayed with the number of unread messages (ex. 01, 02, 03, etc.). b. No page

If no messages are received, "NO PAGES" is displayed for one second when you press read button. c. Tone Only

When tone only is displayed on the pager's screen, the caller paged you without sending a numeric message.

⑦ Duplicate Message

If a new numeric message is received and is exactly the same as a message

already in memory, the duplicated symbol is displayed to indicate that.

The new duplicated message will be replaced the old duplicated message and the time stamp will also be replaced with the newer message as well.

⑧ Emergency Message

If the caller needs to send an emergency page, the tone of the numeric

message received will be different from the set alert.

The caller must press 999 and then the numeric message in order to activate this option.

⑨ Message Hold time

When you need to display your message longer than standard time

(8 seconds), press and hold the read button for over 4 seconds.

⑩ Setting pager alert

There are 3 different types of alert

- Tone alert: 5 different short beep tones

- Melody alert: 5 different of melodic tones

- Motor alert: Vibrator with no alert tone

▶ Setting the tone alert a. From the standby screen, press and release the mode button until

"ALERT TONE" is displayed. b. Press the read button until "TONE" is displayed. c. Press and release the mode button until your choice of TONE 1, TONE 2,

TONE 3, TONE 4 or TONE 5 is displayed. The pager produces a sample of each tone alert. d. Press the read button twice to activate your selection and to return the standby screen.

▶ Setting the melody alerts

There are 5 melody alerts to choose from.

Please follow the tone-setting instructions to set the melody alert.

▶ Setting the vibrator alert a. From the standby screen, press mode button until “ ALERT TONE ” is displayed.

b. Press and release Read button until “ MOTOR ” is displayed. c. Press Mode button to activate your selection and return to the standby screen.

▶ Setting the silent

Follow the vibrator alert-setting instructions to set pager silent.

▶ Setting the alert time

User can set Pager how long it alerts when the message is coming.

a. At the standby screen, press and release Mode button until

"ALERT TIME ” is displayed. b. Press and release Read button until your choice of 8-SEC, 12-SEC, or

4-SEC is displayed. c. Press Mode button to activate the selection and return to the standby screen.

⑪ Protecting and Unprotecting messages

You can protect up to 10 messages so they are not erased or replaced by new messages. a. To protect messages

While the message is displayed, press Mode button until the lock icon it is displayed on the screen. b. To unprotect message:

While the protected message is displayed with lock icon, press Mode button.

The lock icon will disappear.

When you have protected messages 10 messages “ LOC FULL ” is displayed.

⑫ Erasing message(s) a. Erasing an Individual Message

▶ From the standby screen, press and release the Mode button until

“Erase?” is displayed.

▶ At this point, Press the read button to select ERASE ONE ” then press the mode button to select the message that is to be erased.

▶ After finding the message to be erased, press the read button. "SURE ?

will be displayed.

▶ Press the Mode button and then “ ERASED ” is displayed.

After 4 seconds, you will return the standby screen.

He message selected will be completely erased. All remaining message Will be moved to the next available message slot. b. Erasing all message

Follow the erasing individual message instructions and select

“ERASE ALL ” instead of “ ERASE ONE ”

Press Mode button and “ SURE ” will be displayed.

Press the Read button and “ COMPLETED ” will be displayed.

All unprotected messages will be erased from memory.

15. Time and date setting a. From the standby screen, press and release the Mode button until

“ SET TIME ” is displayed. b. Press Read button. The month digits will begin to flash. c. Press and release the Read button to set the month digits. d. Press Mode button and day digits will begin to flash. e. Press and release the Read button to set the date digits. f. Press the Mode button and the hour digits will begin to flash.

Follow the same instructions in step "c" and step "d" to set the hour, minute and A for AM, P for PM.

16. Setting the alarm a. To enable the alarm

At the standby screen, press and release Mode button until

“ SET ALARM ” is displayed.

Press Read button until “ ALARM ON ” is displayed with icon

Press Mode button and then the hour digit flashes

Follow the time/date-setting instructions on page to set the time for the alarm to occur. b. To disable the alarm

Press and release Mode button until “ SET ALARM ” is displayed.

Press Read button until “ ALARM OFF ” is displayed.

Press and release Mode button

Then allow the pager to automatically return to the standby screen.

18. Automatic ON/OFF

User can set Pager to turn on or turn off at a selected time of day.

a. To enable automatic on/off

Press and release the mode button “ AUTO POWER ” is displayed.

Press Read button until “ AUTO ON ” is displayed with icon picture

Press Mode button and then the hour digit flashes.

Follow the time/date-setting instructions on page to set the on/off time.

Press mode button to set time and hour digit flashes.

Follow the above on time setting instructions. b. To disable automatic on/off

Press and release Mode button until “ AUTO POWER ” is displayed.

Press Read button until “ AUTO OFF ” is displayed.

Press and release Mode button.

Then allow the pager to automatically return to the standby screen.

19. Back –up

All protected messages, time/date, alarm, on/off time and all alerts remained in memory. When Pager is off and while the battery is being replaced.

Press and release Mode button until “ BACK-UP?

” is displayed.

Press Read button and then “ COMPLETED ” is momentarily displayed and return to the standby screen.

20. BACK LIGHT

In the dark conditions, the backlight makes the screen easy to read.

Press and hold any button over 2 seconds to activate the LCD screen back light.

The backlight remains on for 8 seconds and then returns to the standby screen.

21. Battery information

Pager operates with one AAA-size alkaline battery.

When the battery is low, “ LOW BATT ” is displayed with icon.

Pager alerts (short beep) 4 times every 5 minutes, prompting user to change the battery.
