Duomo CO233/A Installation And Instruction Manual
Add to My manuals4 Pages
Duomo CO233/A is a carbon monoxide (CO) gas sensor with IP65 protection that can detect the presence of carbon monoxide. It is useful when both the maximum CO admissible concentration threshold set to 300ppm is exceeded, and when low CO concentrations persist in the environment for lengthy periods. It has a 0-300ppm linear output conforming to the 4-20mA standard. The sensor has a 1% FS detector accuracy and a response time of less than 10 seconds. It can be connected to compatible control units such as BX444-Mc, GS100M, BX150, GS300M, GS300-Mc, and BX316xp.

CO233/A Carbon Monoxide Gas Sensor
Installation and Instruction Manual
Description
The CO233/A is a Carbon Monoxide (CO) gas sensor with IP65 protection that, together with a Duomo (UK) GS and BX control units can detect the presence of Carbon Monoxide.
The sensor is fitted with an Electrochemical Cell and is managed by a microprocessor which not only supplies an alarm signal to the Control Unit connected to it, but also allows execution of selfdiagnosis in order to obtain the maximum detection accuracy at any time.
This device is useful when both the maximum CO admissible concentration threshold set to 300ppm is exceeded, and when low
CO concentrations persist in the environment for lengthy periods.
According to the principle of accumulation, could also be toxic. The sensor has a 0-300ppm linear output conforming to the 4-20mA standard.

Precautions and Maintenence
CHECK the integrity of the unit after having removed it from the box.
Check that the data written on the box correspond to the type of gas used.
When doing the electrical connections, follow the drawing closely.
Any use of the detector for purposes other than the intended one is considered improper and as a result of which Duomo
(UK) therefore disclaims any responsibility for possible damages caused to people, animals or objects.
The installation and maintenance of the CO233/A Sensor and removal at the end of the functional life must be carried out by authorized or specialized personnel.
Do not allow the CO233/A to become wet.
The product is not waterproof either when immersed in water or exposed to high levels of humidity.

Display Indications
0 ppm
GREEN
When the display is Green in colour with a gas concentration in parts per million (ppm). This indicates that the toxic gas threshold has not been exceeded.
CON
WHITE
When the display shows the White colour and text ‘Con’ is shown. It indicates that the testing instrument is connected.
FAU
YELLOW
When the display shows the Yellow colour and text
‘FAU’ is shown. It indicates a sensor fault. This immediately triggers the fault relay.
Sta

300 ppm
MAGENTA
When the display shows the Magenta colour and text
‘StA’ is shown. It indicates that the maximum average concentration to which an unprotected worker may be exposed in any fifteen-minute interval during the day has been detected (200ppm) and the main alarm relay has triggered.
CYAN
When the display shows the Cyan colour and text ‘8hA’ is shown. It indicates the maximum average concentration to which an unprotected worker may be exposed in any eight-hour interval during the day has been detected (30ppm) and the main alarm relay has triggered.
RED
When the display shows the Red colour and a gas concentration in ppm is shown. It indicates the toxic gas threshold has been reached or passed. If the 300 ppm has detected the main alarm relay is triggered immediately.
Positioning of the Sensor

Carbon Monoxide
Detection
The position of the sensor is a crucial factor for its correct functioning. The sensor must be placed at a height of:
160 cm from the lowest point on the floor up to 30 cm from the ceiling, and in all cases at an average height in the monitored area.
Detection
Carbon Monoxide
CO233/A autosetting
The sensor must not be placed near the following: furnaces, fuel-burning kitchen appliances, fireplaces, ranges, suction fans, and should not be affected by smoke, vapour as these could distort its measurement.
The sensor must not be placed away from sources of heat, suction fans, ventilation fans, windows, doors, etc. that can distorting the detection, should be placed away from heat sources and away from aspirators or fans.
Important Notes
IMPORTANT: Assembly / maintenance of the appliance must be carried out by qualified personnel and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The manufacturer assumes no responsibility for the use of products that have to comply with particular environmental and / or installation standards.
IMPORTANT: Before connecting the equipment, it is recommended that you read the instruction manual carefully and keep it for future reference.
Troubleshooting
If the device does not start up.
Check that the 12/24 VDC power is present, and that positive and negative polarity has not been inverted.
If the Fault LED condition occurs.
Check that the cables are connected according to the drawing, and that the wire isolation sheath has not been pinched.
Check the voltage at the terminals 1-2. It must be higher than 11 VDC and lesser than 25VDC.
Check the voltage at the terminals 2-3. It must be from a minimum of 0.8 VDC to a maximum of 1.1 VDC.
