INTroduCTIoN
Thank you for purchasing the ex•tend•it Firewire Extender Series. Extending your Firewire peripherals (i.e. camcorders or hard drives) up to 1640 feet away from the location of your Macintosh or PC computer are done easily with the Firewire 800
Extender.
The Firewire 800 Extender system consists of two units. The Firewire 800 Extender sender resides next to the host computer, and the Firewire 800 Extender receiver is linked to the sender via 2-strand LC-LC fiber optic cable and resides at the desired location away from the computer.
Fiber optics cables are used to connect one Firewire Extender unit to an other
Firewire Extender unit. The Firewire Extender keeps your desk clutter-free, allowing the relocation of your computer to a safe and secure area, while allowing you to work in a quieter environment.
You can connect additional Firewire 800 Extender systems to the same computer, allowing you to access the computer from multiple locations up to 1640 feet apart.

HoW To CoNNECT THE FIrEWIrE 800
1. Connect the supplied Firewire cable from the computers Firewire port into one of
Firewire 800 Extender unit. (Either unit will work as a sender or a receiver.)
2. Connect the fiber optics cable from one Firewire 800 Extender unit to the other
Firewire 800 Extender unit.
3. Connect your Firewire devices into the Firewire 800 Extender at the remote location
(unit).
4. Plug the 12 volt power supply into the Firewire 800 Extender unit at the remote location only.
5. Restart your computer only after you’ve made all the connections.

dC IN - Power plug for 12VDC Wallmount power supply.
Firewire 1 - Connects to Firewire Hub, or Firewire Device.
Firewire 2 - Connects to Firewire Hub, or Firewire Device.
Power LEd - Indicates the unit is plugged in and powered up.
Status LEd - Indicates Sender and Reciever are connected
Tx/rx - LC-LC Optical Jack which connects to the Firewire 800 Extender send and the Firewire 800 Extender Receive units.

WArrANTY
Gefen Inc. warrants the equipment it manufactures to be free from defects in material and workmanship.
If equipment fails because of such defects and Gefen Inc. is notified within two (2) year from the date of shipment, Gefen Inc. will, at its option repair or replace the equipment, provided that the equipment has not been subjected to mechanical, electrical, or other abuse or modifications.
Equipment that fails under conditions other than those covered will be repaired at the current price of parts and labor in effect at the time of repair. Such repairs are warranted for ninety (90) days from the day of reshipment to the Buyer.
This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties expressed or implied, including without limitation, any implied warranty or merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose, all of which are expressly disclaimed.
1. Proof of sale may be required in order to claim warranty.
2. Customers outside the US are responsible for shipping charges to and from
Gefen.
3. Copper cables are limited to a 30 day warranty and cable must be free from any
scratches, markings, and neatly coiled.
