AIM-200

Addressable Intelligent Module

B-160

Catalog Section: Microprocessor Fire Alarm Control Panels

December 11, 1995

GENERAL

The Addressable Intelligent Module (AIM-200) functions as an interface between the System 5000 control panel and up to 99 intelligent addressable detectors and 99 addressable monitor or control modules. To the System 5000, the AIM-200 operates like an IZM-8 module. The CPU-5000 can communicate with up to 10 AIM-200 modules for a system capacity of up to

1980 Addressable/Intelligent devices.

Although the AIM-200 appears to the System 5000 as an initiating module, it has full internal control capability, and can activate CMX-2 modules on its loop according to an internally stored custom program.

The AIM-200 communicates every few seconds with up to 198 addressable devices, identifying exactly which device is in alarm or trouble. Usually, only a single pair of wires is required

(Style 6 uses two pairs), providing a major installation cost saving compared to conventional systems.

In addition to communicating with each detector, the AIM-200 can measure analog sensitivity and determine the type of device, such as Ionization, Photoelectric, or Thermal Detector.

The programmer can use the AIM-200 keypad and display to adjust the sensitivity of each detector to best fit its particular environment. The AIM-200 automatically tests and verifies its detectors. It also gives a warning when a detector has become contaminated and needs cleaning, thereby preventing false alarms.

The AIM-200 has a digital display for address, and a zone display with alarm and trouble LEDs for each of 8 zones. The

198 devices may be mapped into these software zones as desired. For additional information on the alarm/trouble locations, a card file is built-into the AIM-200.

Also included is a password-protected Auto-Program function.

When requested, the AIM-200 determines the address and type of all devices which are connected to it, and presents this information to the installer. When the installer presses a key, the AIM-200 stores all information about the device in nonvolatile memory.

FEATURES

• Up to 198 addressable devices per AIM-200 module.

• Up to 10 modules per system (1980 point capacity).

• Intelligent Photoelectric, Ionization and Thermal Detectors.

• MMX and CMX modules for monitoring and control of contacts.

• Monitor to Control device mapping (program from panel).

• Disable on a device or zone basis.

• Alarm verification by zone.

• Automatic test of remote devices every few hours.

• Network capability for secondary System 5000 or System 500 panels.

• Local-mode operation continues in the unlikely event of System 5000

CPU failure.

• Power limited.

• Non-volatile EEPROM memory with password and electrical key protection.

• Plug-in terminal blocks for ease of service.

• Auto-Program function allows configuration and programming in minutes with only a few keystrokes.

• Integral card file for detailed location information on all devices.

• Reference card provides description of most common codes and functions.

• Up to 192 addressable devices (96 detectors and 96 monitor or control modules) may be point annunciated on the LCD-80 Liquid Crystal

Display (maximum of one AIM-200 per system).

• Up to 192 points from a single AM2020 or AFP1010 may be annunciated through the System 5000 to LCD-80, ACS or LDM annunciators.

CONSTRUCTION

The AIM-200 consists of a panel-mounted circuit card with an integral tactile feel membrane switch. Windows in the membrane panel allow viewing of the alarm and trouble LEDs. Slide-in pockets allow the insertion of descriptive labels for the system defined functions and userdefined zones (module windows are 0.500 inches high by 0.975 inches wide). Removable terminal blocks are provided for connection of field wiring. Module size is approximately 4.4 inches wide by 7.0 inches high.

INSTALLATION

The AIM-200 mounts in one module position of a CHS-4 or CAB-AA

Chassis using two captive screws. A ribbon cable connects the AIM-200 to the CPU-5000. Up to 10 AIM-200 modules may be installed in a

System 5000 equipped with a MPS-24A, or up to 3 AIM-200 modules with the MPS-24B, and they may be placed in any available module positions.
