Trimble 5600 Robotic Support
The following functions are available:
• Measure points on Face 1 using the Averaged Observations method. This method is similar to the GDM D-bar measurement. Multiple observations from the instrument are averaged by the Trimble Survey Controller software. Access to this functionality requires GDM firmware version 696-02.01 or later.
• Track the RMT on Face 2, enabling Horizontal angle and
Angles only (HA and VA) observations on Face 2 to be performed. Note that a Face 1 observation is required before
Face 2 tracking is available.
• Turn the instrument using a defined horizontal or vertical distance. The distances, together with the distance from the instrument to the target, are used to determine how far the instrument should turn.
• Configure the size of the search window.
1 6 Trimble Survey Controller Release Notes
Features 2
• Configure the Instrument Radio using the Radio softkey in the
Instrument menu of the Trimble 5600 Robotic survey style.
Ensure that the Control Unit (CU 600) has been removed and that the instrument is turned on. This functionality is only available with instrument firmware version 628-07.05 /
696-02.00 or later. Note also, that the radio can be configured using the CU. The radio settings stored in the CU are applied to the instrument when the instrument is turned on with the CU attached. Either set the radio settings in the CU to match those in the Trimble Survey Controller software or remove the CU from the instrument.
• Use the Trimble Survey Controller Continuous topo data collection method with a Trimble 5600 Total Station series /
Geodimeter instrument in a robotic survey. This places the instrument in tracking mode and lets you store the latest measurement while continuing to track the prism.
Note – Before you start a survey using the Trimble Survey Controller software and a Trimble 5600 DR 200+ instrument in Robotic mode, you must configure the instrument to measure to Reflector only targets. Select Menu 7 2 1 on the instrument Control Unit (CU 600) to set the instrument to Reflector. Otherwise, when you take a distance measurement, you will receive a Prism obstructed warning.
2.2.20
Trimble 3600 support
You can use the Trimble Survey Controller software with the Trimble
3600 instrument in the following two different configurations:
• Geodimeter® Control Unit
• Elta® Control Panel with the Trimble 3600 Controller software

Additional Information
The following sections describe other features in the version 10.00 release of the Trimble Survey Controller software.
2.3.1
2.3.2
Receivers and Radios
The Trimble Survey Controller software version 10.00 supports the
Trimble 4700, 4800, and 5700 receivers.
The Trimble Survey Controller software version 10.00 does not support the Trimble Series 4000, Site Surveyor™ 4400, 4600LS™,
MS750™, or Trimble 7400 receivers.
The TT450, TT900, TRIMMARK™ Rover, Clarion, and Satel radios are not listed in the default survey styles. To use these radios, set up a custom radio configuration.
Charging the TSCe Battery from Trimble 4700 and 4800
Receivers
When the TSCe lemo port is connected to port 1 on either a Trimble
4700 or 4800 receiver, the TSCe battery will charge from the receiver batteries. If the TSCe battery is low, this could significantly limit the receiver battery life. If you do not want the TSCe battery to charge from the receiver, use one of the following cabling configurations:
• TSCe DB9/Com1 port to receiver port.
• TSCe Lemo port to receiver port 2. This configuration is only possible when using an internal radio.
With either of these configurations, the TSCe battery will draw power from the receiver battery, but will not charge.

2.3.6
2.3.7
Features 2
Stakeout Enhancements
Information reported (in the .dc file) is now more consistent with the
Trimble Geomatics Office version 1.50 cut sheet reporting functionality.
Event Markers
You must log event markers to .dat files stored in the receiver, not the
TSCe data collector.
Instrument Corrections
When using the Trimble Survey Controller software with conventional instruments, Trimble recommends that you apply corrections in the software, not the instrument. Otherwise, the instrument returns adjusted observations to the Trimble Survey Controller software and you risk the corrections being applied twice.
No Projection No Datum Jobs and COGO
For the purpose of COGO calculations within the Trimble Survey
Controller software, No projection No datum jobs assume that your local ellipsoid is equivalent to your WGS-84 ellipsoid until you calibrate. When working with No projection No datum jobs, perform a calibration before performing any stake out.
