NOTE:
* When upgrading from version 4.1.2 and earlier to version 4.1.3 and later, you must typically export data, perform a clean install of the Linux OS, install the new version of InsightIQ, then re-import the data. This is because the newer versions require Linux version 7.x, and there is no upgrade path from Linux 6.x to Linux 7.x.
† InsightIQ 4.1.4:
● If you originally installed InsightIQ 4.1.3 using a script file (.sh): You can upgrade Linux and then perform an in-place upgrade to InsightIQ 4.1.4.
● If you originally installed InsightIQ 4.1.3 using a virtual machine template (.ova) file: You must export InsightIQ data, upgrade
Linux, reinstall InsightIQ, and then import the InsightIQ data.

Node class compatibility
Node class compatibility enables deployment of a newer-generation node to a SmartPools node pool that contains nodes from an earlier generation.
If the node classes are compatible, you can join a newer-generation node to an existing cluster of earlier-generation nodes. The newer-generation node becomes a member of an existing node pool. For example, if the cluster has a node pool that is made up of Isilon X200 nodes, you can define a compatibility that allows the addition of an X210 node to the same node pool.
OneFS supports compatibilities for S200/S210, X200/X210, X400/X410, and NL400/NL410 nodes.
The requirements are:
● Same node series (S, X, or NL)
● Same number of HDDs, SEDs, and SSDs
● Same HDD and SSD layouts
● Compatible node generations must have a compatible memory configuration
● Compatible RAM

NOTE: To mix 16 GB and 64 GB nodes in the same pool, the cluster has to be running OneFS 8.2.2+. The 64 GB nodes should be kept in a separate pool for high workload environments.
NOTE: SSD compatibilities require that L3 cache is enabled on all nodes. If you attempt to move nodes with SSDs into a node pool on which L3 cache is not enabled, the process fails with an error message. Ensure that L3 cache is enabled for the existing node pool and try again. L3 cache can only be enabled on nodes that have fewer than 16 SSDs and at least a
2:1 ratio of HDDs to SSDs. On Generation 6 nodes that support SSD compatibilities, SSD count is ignored. If SSDs are used for storage, then SSD counts must be identical on all nodes in a node pool. If SSD counts are left unbalanced, node pool efficiency and performance can be less than optimal.
Drive and node compatibility
This section contains information about drive and node compatibility.
For information about the brands of drives that are compatible with Isilon nodes and OneFS, contact your Isilon sales representative or Isilon Technical Support. For information about how drives are arranged in a node or how to replace a drive, see the hardware documentation for your brand of node. Hardware documentation is available from the Dell Online Suppor t website.
Node firmware package (NFP)

If you are running Generation 4, update your firmware with Node Firmware Package 9.3.5. The S210, X210, X410, and NL410 nodes are compatible with Node Firmware Package 9.0.1 and later. F810 nodes require OneFS 8.1.3. For the F810, contact your
Account Team. Some F-Series, H-Series, and A200 and A2000 nodes are compatible with OneFS 8.1.x and later releases.
Drive support package (DSP)
PowerScale drive support packages contain drive firmware updates for Isilon clusters and PowerScale clusters.
Installing the latest drive support package allows you to update the drive firmware to the latest supported revisions.
You can install a drive support package if your cluster contains only the following node types:
● PowerScale: A3000, A300, H7000, H700, F900, F200, F600
● Generation 6 and 6.5: F800, F810, H5600, H600, H500, H400, A200, A2000
● Generation 5: S210, X210, X410, NL410, HD400
For information about installing and applying drive support packages and information about preparing OneFS before updating drive firmware, see the product documentation that is available from the Dell Online Support website.
Optional 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel network interface card (NIC)
You can enable two-way NDMP sessions by configuring a node with the optional 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel network interface card (NIC) on Generation 6 nodes.
This special NIC is required to allow Gen6 to interface with tape libraries. A 2x10GE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC is a hybrid host bus adapter (HBA) that enables two-way NDMP sessions over the Fibre Channel port. Contact Dell EMC Professional Services to enable support for the 2x10GbE + 2x8GB Fibre Channel NIC.
NOTE: This optional NIC requires OneFS 8.2.0 or later. This optional NIC is not available for the Isilon A300, A3000, H700, or H7000 nodes.
