SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

This manual offers all the necessary information for flying

DAS Audio systems. This document contains safety precautions and a description of the elements to be used.

To carry out any operations related to flying a DAS Audio system, it is recommended to read the present document first and comply with the warnings and advice given. The goal is to allow the user to become familiar with the mechanical elements required to fly the acoustic system, as well as the safety measures to be taken during and after assembly.

Only experienced installers with adequate knowledge of the equipment and local safety regulations should fly speaker boxes. It is the user´s responsibility to ensure that the systems to be flown (including flying accessories) comply with state and local regulations.

The working load limits in this manual are the results of tests carried out by independent laboratories. It is the user´s responsibility to follow and comply with safety factors, resistance values, periodical supervisions and warnings given in this manual. Product improvement through research and development is on going at DAS Audio, specifications are subject to change without notice.

It is common practice to apply 5:1 safety factors for enclosures and static elements. For slings and elements exposed to material fatigue due to friction and load variation the following ratios must be met; 5:1 for steel cable slings; 4:1 for steel chain slings and 7:1 for polyester slings. Thus, an element with a breaking load limit of 1000 kg may be statically loaded with 200 kg (5:1 safety factor) and dynamically loaded with 142 kg (7:1 safety factor).

When a system is flown, the working load must be lower than the resistance of each individual flying point in the enclosure, as well as each box.

Rigging hardware should be regularly inspected and defective units replaced discarded. It is highly recommended that you implement an equipment inspection and maintenance program, including reports to be filled out by the inspectors.

Local regulations may exist that, in case of accident, may require you to submit evidence of inspection reports and corrective actions carried out after defects were found.

Absolutely no risks should be taken with regards to public safety.

When flying enclosures from the ceiling or other structures, extreme care should be taken to assure the load bearing capabilities of the structures so that the installation is absolutely safe. Do not fly enclosures from unsafe structures.

Consult a certified professional if needed. Use gloves and all necessary protective equipment to avoid personal injuries.

All flying accessories that are not supplied by DAS Audio are the user´s responsibility. Use at your own risk.

2.-Assembly of LARA unit on its transport platform.

Disassembly

Fig.1 Fig.1

Remove the two front security pins from the LARA unit and release the connecting rods.

Gently place the unit inserting the connecting rods into the dedicated slots of the transport platform.

Fig.2

To attach the LARA unit to the transport platform, insert the security pins into the front holes of the platform as shown in the figure.

Fig.3

Now, it is time to attach the back of the unit.

Fig.4

Remove the pin that locks the rear connecting rod.

Lower the connecting rod and place it between the two rear plates of the transport platform, as shown in the figure. Attach the connecting rod to the platform inserting the security pin as shown in the figure.

For disassembly, proceed in reverse order to that described in the steps above.

Disassembly

Fig.1 Fig.1

Only use the PL-LARA-SUB accessory

(WLL 400kgf) shown in the figure to stack and transport up to 3 units of

LARA-SUB.

Fig.2

Place the LARA-SUB unit on the platform aligning its feet with the marks on the platform.

Fig.3 y 4

Note that the first unit is not attached to the platform with security pins, however, subsequent units need to be attached to each other. Once a unit has been stacked on top of another unit, insert the security pins on both sides at the front, as shown in figure 3.

Fig.5, 6 y 7

Next, remove the security pin from the rear plates, lower the rear connecting rod and attach it with the previously removed security pin, as shown in the figure. The result can be seen in figure 7.

*To stack a third unit, follow the same steps

**To disassemble, follow the steps above in reverse order.

4.- Assembly of GS-PL-LARA. Play angle settings in LARA units. Stability, max. and min. angle and maximum number of units

Fig. 1 Fig.1

The figure shows the PL-LARA

(WLL=400 kgf) accessory.

Fig.2

The GS-PL-LARA accessory can be attached to the PL-LARA to provide additional stability in ground stacked LARA

(WLL=400kgf) applications.

Fig.3

The figure shows how the different parts of the accessory fit into the corresponding slots, releasing the security latches included. Note that the elbow piecess are mounted at the front of the platform, while the remaining pieces go at the back.

Fig.4

Note that the maximum number of units that can be groundstacked remains 4.

PL-LARA platforms and their GS-PL-LARA accessory are designed for maximum stability with a ±14° tilt above the horizontal, regardless of the splay angle between the 4 LARA units that can be stacked on them.

When using the GS-PL-LARA, make sure the platform and accessoryy are mounted on a firm surface.

Fig.5

As shown in the figure, the splay angles between two adjacent LARA units can range from 0 to 7 degrees maximum (the numbers on the rear plates of the LARA units indicate the splay angles in degrees).

When shipped from the factory, the units have a security pin stowed in the “PIN

HOLDER” position, inserted on the right side of their rear plate, and another pin stowed in the “STORE LINK” position, inserted on the left. Insert the first pin in the desired splay angle and insert the other pin to lock the connecting rod in the chosen angle plus 1. That is, if the desired angle is 4 degrees, insert the “PIN

HOLDER” pin in hole “4” and the “STORE

LINK” pin in hole “5”. When the desired angle is 7 degrees, insert the “PIN HOLD-

ER” pin in hole “7”, and the “STORE LINK” pin in the hole marked “7+1”. Make sure the connecting rod from the unit on top is fitted between the rear plates of the unit below to ensure the two units are securely attached.
