Connect an air supply hose to the 3/8 npt(m) air inlet
valve (28-A) and your air supply. See Fig 1. Install an
air filter upstream from theair inlet valve to remove dirt
and moisture from your air supply. See ACCESSORIES. Connect a fluid hose between the 3/8 npt(m)
outlet valve (28-8) and the fluid inlet of your spray gun.
For pressure tanks with two regulators, connect the air
atomizing hose between the 114 npt bail valve (59) of
the air atomizing regulator (56) and the air inlet of your
gun. See Fig 3.
For a single regulated unit, atomized air can be provided by controlling both tank and airatomizing pressures with one regulator, or it can be provided to the
gun from another source, which is teed off the main air
supply hose, upstream from thehose connections to
the tank. To control bothtank and air atomizing pressures with one regulator, remove the plug (7) from the
regulator (19) and connect an air atomizing hose to
the 112 npt(f) port of the regulator.
Installing the Accessory Bottom Outlet & Leg Kit
serious bodily injury, ALWAYS follow the Pressure
Relief Procedure on page 3 before opening the
tank cover or fill Dort.

To spray or extrude highly viscous materials that could
clog the tank’s siphon tube, install the Bottom Outlet
and LegKit 214-976 (see ACCESSORIES). It enables
you to use the tank’s bottom 1 in. npt fluid outlet instead of the siphon tube.
First followthe Pressure Relief Procedure onpage 3.
Then loosen the cover clamps and remove the cover.
Empty the tank and turn it upside down. Fit the slotted
end of the tank leg (C) over the bottom rimof the tank
so the boltholes are inside the rim.Screw in the bolts
(D)and tighten them firmly. See Fig 2.Each leg should
almost line up with the cover clamps. Adjust the legs
until the tank is properly balanced. Always bolt the legs
on from the inside of rim for the best stability. Push the
tips (J) onto the tank legs.
Remove the plug (61) in the bottom oftank and install
the bushing’ (F), elbow (G) and nipple (H) supplied with
the kit. Connect a fluid valve (not supplied), hose and
spray gun to the nipple. Remove the siphon tube (22)
from the tank cover and besure the fluid outlet (28-B)
is fully closed.
Prepare the material accordingto the manufacturer’s
recommendations. Strain it toremove large particles
that could clog the spray gun. Use an agitator to mix
heavy material.

serious bodily injury, ALWAYS follow the Prsssure Relief Procedure on page 3 before openFirst follow the Pressure Relief Procedure on page 3.
Then remove the regulator (19) by loosening the
swivel ( 1 6) beneath it. See Fig 1.
Remove the cover (26) from the tank. Removethe retaining nut (15) from bottomof the cover. Remove the
O-ring (2), adapter plug (3), and handle (4). Keep the
retaining nut (15).
Fit the gasket (33) under the coupler housing (51) and
piace the short shaft (49) through cover's center hole.
See Fig 3. Screw the retaining nut (15) onto the housing and torque it to 50 ftllb (68 N-m).
Fig 3
Position the coupler (34) over the short shaft (49) and
tighten the top setscrew into shaft. Insert the long
shaft (35) into the coupler and tighten the 'lower
setscrew into the shaft. Screw on the agitator blade
(36). washer (30), and nut (31).
Reinstall the regulator(s) on the tankand tighten swivel
securely. Connect agitator hose (48) between agitator
control valve (53) and elbow (8) of air inlet manifold
(20). See Fig 3.
Installing An Air Atomizing Regulator
If you have an agitator, disconnect the agitator hose
(48) from the air inlet manifold elbow (8) and loosen
the swivel (16) beneath the tank regulator (19). Swing
the assembled regulator, tee and manifold clockwise,
far enough to facilitate assembling the second regulator. See Fig 3.
Remove the plug (7) from the tee (13). See Fig 1.Using sealant, install the nipple (57), regulator and gauge
(56, 58), bushing (55), and ball valve (59). Return the
tank regulator to its original position and tighten the
swivel securely. Reconnect theagitator hose and connect the air atomizing hose between the ball valve (59)
and the gun's air inlet.
NOTE
Be sure any unused regulator or air manifold
port is properly plugged with a steel plug.
Close the air regulator(s) by turning the knob(?,)
counterclockwise, then turn on the air supply.
attempt to repair it. The valve will reset automatically
when pressure is relieved.
Start agitator (if used) by opening air inlet valve (28-A)
and slowlyopening air valve (53). See Fig 3. Use lowest speed needed for thorough agitation.
If you are using an agitator, adjust speed to properly
mix material. Control agitator speed with the air control
valve (53). After mixing, operate the agitator at a very
slow speed to prevent heavy viscosity paint from settling. Shut it off completely when using less viscous
paint. The view ports on the agitator shaft collar ailow
you to visually check the agitator speed.
Open tank airsupply line (28-A) and fluid outlet (28-8)
ball valves. Adjust air regulator to pressure desired.
Turn on atomizing air to spray gun. Test spray small
area: adjust as necessary. Always use lowest possible
air pressure to obtain desired results.
WARNING
PRESSURE of 100 psi (7 bar). Check operation
The safety relief valve (12) will automatically relieve
tank pressure when air pressure exceeds 100 psi (7
bar). Check operation of relief valve weekly by raising
air pressure to 100-105 psi (7 bar). If the valve does
not relieve pressure, replace it immediately. DO NOT
To stop the agitator, close the air control valve (53).
For overnight shutdown, first close the main air inlet
valve (26-A), then close theair control valve (53).
CAUTION
DO NOT operate agitator at a high speed for a
long period of time. This can cause aeration
which may break down paint, making it unusable. It can also cause heavy foaming that could
back up into the air inlet bushing, and foul the
system. Always agitate only enough to maintain
even mixing of the paint.
Maintaining the Agitator Air Motor
Lubricate agitator motor whenever it willbe shut down
for morethan 8 hours. Remove airmotor cap and apply 15 to 20 drops of oil in the oiler. Replace the cap
and run agitator for about 112 minute.
serious bodily injury, ALWAYS follow the Pressure
Relief Procedure on page 3 before opening the
tank cover or fill port.
~~
Cleaning the Tank
First follow the Pressure Relief Procedure on page 3.
Loosen cover clamps and remove cover. Loosen
spray gun air cap retaining ring about three turns, hold
a rag over air cap and trigger gun to force paint back
through hose and into tank. Empty tank. Pour a suitable amount of compatible solvent into the tank.
If air motor doesn'trun smoothlyand easily, flush it out
by removing muffler (47) and filling muffler cavity with
kerosene. Screw muffler back in. Soak for about 10
minutes, then run agitator slowly until all kerosene is
blown out. Repeat process if motor still doesn't run
smoothly.
r- 1
WARNING
To reduce risk of serious bodily injury, including
splashing kerosene in the eyes or on skin, keep
face and body away from exhaust while flushing.
Be sure the solvent used is compatible with the
material being$prayed and the "Wetted Parts"
shown in the TECHNICAL DATA.
Install cover. Tighten clamps evenly and securely. Remove spray gun air cap, turn onair supply and hold
spray gun trigger open until clean solvent comes from
gun. Removesolvent from system. Wipe inside of tank
clean with a solvent dampened rag.
Remove siphon tube (22) and air inlet bushing (10)
from bottom of tank cover for cleaning. It is very important that the tube and bushing are replaced in the
same position. There is a small hole on the side of one
of the threaded ports where only the bushing must be
installed. The threaded port forthe siphon tube has no
hole.
I
a
air regulator (56). Tank air regulator has a mylar
diaphragm which resists corrosion by paint and Solvents. If tank air regulator is replaced. be sure replacement has a mylar diaphragm.

If air motor still doesn't opecate properly, contact an
authorized Graco Service Depot. DO NOT attempt to
service it yourself.
If air leaks around the short shaft (49)due to wear, the
shaft may be inverted. Loosen the setscrews (44)
around the top of the coupler housing (51) and remove the motor (41). Push the shaft up through the
bottom of the housing. Loosen the bottom setscrew of
the flexible coupling (40) and remove the shaft. Turn
the shaft around, reposition the flexible coupling and
tighten setscrew. Fit the seal (46) and bearing (43)
into housing, then push the shaft and coupling through
the housing. Reposition housing onto motor and
tighten screws. See parts drawing on page 7.
See separate instruction manual 307-204 for care and
maintenance of regulators.
