Celery software User guide

Below you will find brief information for software Celery. Celery is a task queue/job queue based on distributed message passing. It is focused on real-time operation, but supports scheduling as well. The execution units, called tasks, are executed concurrently on a single or more worker servers. Tasks can execute asynchronously (in the background) or synchronously (wait until ready). Celery was originally created for use with Django, but is now usable from any Python project. It can also operate with other languages via webhooks. The recommended message broker is RabbitMQ, but support for Redis and databases is also available.

Frequently asked questions

Celery is a task queue/job queue based on distributed message passing. It is used for asynchronous task execution, allowing you to perform tasks in the background without blocking the main application.

Celery provides features like task queues, job queues, asynchronous execution, distributed message passing, real-time operation, scheduling support, concurrent task execution, integration with Django and Python, and support for various message brokers like RabbitMQ, Redis, and databases.

Celery uses a message broker to communicate between workers and tasks. When you submit a task, it gets placed in the queue. Workers listen to the queue and pick up tasks to execute. The results of the tasks can be stored in a result backend for retrieval later.
