OPERATING MANUAL FOR THE MOD-SPK-PRO (G3) BUILT-IN MAIN MODULE for PRO DIGITAL

SYSTEMS (including PRO-A)

GENERAL INFORMATION

The built-in main unit module is designed for use in single and multi-family solutions, where the transmission of audio or video signal using an optional camera is required, and the door entry unit is installed in any structure. The module can be mounted in already installed front panels with external call buttons or can be used to combine a letterbox with a door entry unit. The module works similarly to COMO-PRO series panels (generation 3 PRO panels).

The call module has no own call buttons. The external call button is to be connected to module INPUT. By default INPUT will cause calling any receiver. More call buttons can be connected using the optional MOD-10NBP module (to be purchased separately). The MOD-10NBP module supports up to 10 buttons (for more buttons more modules are necessary) . Thus the connected buttons can be freely configured and assigned to individual addresses set in the receivers (between 1 and 255, by default the module supports addresses from 1 to 10). Any number of receivers can be assigned to the same address.

The main module supports receivers of the PRO system (such as video receivers for MPRO 7/GLASS-PRO-7, MPRO 4 etc.; as well as the

UPRO audio receiver). Receivers with the address set to 0 will react to any address.

The module can also recognise the proximity key fobs, which makes it easy to open the door directly from the module. The module features an antenna to be installed separately. The module also features an additional external microphone, which can be used instead of the built-in microphone, in specific cases.

The housing is made of stainless steel, which provides effective mechanical and weather protection.

The module can be used to control external devices, such as gate, barriers, roller shutters, lighting (optional PRO-I/O module is necessary).

The topology of the system is based on twisted-pair, min. cat. 5e (UTP).

The module can be configured using the “PRO 3 MANAGER" PC application and optional modules (to be purchased separately) to connect the panel with computer via CDN-USB or PRO-USB (via the system bus) . Configuration of MOD-10NBP modules is done using the FAM-P application and

CDN-USB interface. The PRO 3 MANAGER application can also be used to manage proximity key fobs and for software updates. All applications are available free of charge from www.aco.com.pl.

If it is necessary to run a video system, use a PAL external analogue camera or purchase MOD-CAM-FAM dome camera module dedicated for installation: (the module is based on the dome camera that is available in COMO/Familio panels). When using a PAL analogue camera, a combiner module (CDNVS or CDNVS-60) should also be used.

G3: Generation 3 PRO can be used for:

- Programming settings and software updates via the system bus (optional PRO-USB module required)

- Individual numbers of each module (Dev ID)

- Compatibility with earlier PRO system generations

- Connecting two main modules in one system, i.e. master and slave (to switch the camera signal it is necessary to use the PRO-VIDEO-SW2-60

OPERATION

The main module will start ringing upon pressing the NO button connected to the INPUT or upon pressing the NO button connected to the MOD-

10NBP module provided that the system features a receiver whose address is assigned to the button being pressed. If no such receiver is present, the main module will generate a busy signal. If the system features a receiver with the address set to 0 (broadcast), the main module will call it from any button. By default the ringing tone lasts 45 sec. and if a call is received on the receiver during this time, a voice connection is possible (by default, the connection can take 4 minutes).

The door can be opened (typically by activating the Elock) from the receiver ("key” icon) and by means of an optional external button directly connected to INPUT of the main module (the INPUT function should be changed in the parameters: from ringing to opening). The NO button for opening can also be connected directly to the optional PRO-I/O module. Using the computer application the opening time can be set to between 0.6s and 25s (by default 4s) and the delay to between 1s and 25s (by default 0) after which the door will open from the moment of pressing the external button connected to the module INPUT.

The door can also be opened using a proximity key fob. For this the antenna, included in the set, must be installed.

When two main modules (or module and panel) are connected, the main module/master panel always has priority and performs all functions by default, for instance in standby mode it will open the door or start a call. When ringing and during conversation the calling panel/module will automatically broadcast the image and enable door opening the door. Only one module/panel can be used to call, the other one will be busy (it will generate a busy signal).

ADDING AND REMOVING PROXIMITY KEY FOBS

The module also features a support proximity key fob reader. For this the antenna, included in the set, must be installed. To manage the key rings, use the PRO 3 MANAGER computer application. One programmed key fob is supplied with the module (added for address 1 of receivers) - a

"Master" key fob, which can be used to add more key fobs. Door will open when the key fob is put on the reader. Un using an unprogrammed key fob, the module will give a short triple beep. If it is necessary to program further key fobs, using the "Master" key fob; to do this both the Master key fob and an unassigned key ring must be put on the reader when opening the door. The module will confirm the correct programming during the next door opening.

Up to 10 key fobs can be programmed for an address. More key fobs (maximum 10240), including one for facility administrator, can only be added via the computer application (the optional PRO-USB cable is required).

SYSTEM ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTION

Connection

It is recommended to connect the module according to the diagram using RJ45 connectors and twisted-pair cable (UTP min. cat 5e). In this case, the maximum cable lengths is 100m between the main module and the power supply and 70m between the monitor and the power supply (for information on longer connection lengths refer to Fig. 3 or COMO-PRO Digital video door entry system user manual ). All connectors must be crimped the same way as per T568B . For an audio system, the minimum required number of wires between the main module and the receiver is 3 wires (min. wire diameter 0.5 mm)

Before turning the power on, make sure that all connections correspond to the diagram, the RJ45 plugs are crimped correctly and no short circuit is present between wires. Pnlu connect the module when the power supply is off.

If the RJ45 is not used, connect to screw terminals: power supply to +DC POWER and -DC POWER (GND) terminals, signal line (communication

/ audio) to LINE terminal. Connect the external NOcontact button (“ringing” button) to INPUT and GND terminals (-DC POWER ); this will then be the calling or direct door opening button (depending on the module settings).

Connect the E-lock to ELOCK OUTPUT terminals (+ and -) and connect its power supply to ELOCK POWER (+ and -). In this case it is recommended to use wires selected based on the current drawn by the E-lock (typically 1.5mm

) and to ensure the distance according to fig. 3. Using a computer application the ELOCK OUTPUT can be changed to: “E-lock" (default setting) - the output voltage will appear during opening and will be modulated accordingly, so that if DC voltage +15V, 12V can be used for the E-lock. Other output types are "Reverse" (such as when connecting a reversible E-lock) - in this case the voltage on the output will be lost during opening or "Relay" type - the voltage on the output will appear during opening without additional modulation (for instance when connecting a relay). Note!

For the "Reverse" and "Relay" type, the value of the voltage connected to the

ELOCK POWER input will appear directly on the output and it is necessary to use a power supply unit with parameters consistent with the E-lock (AC power supplies can also be used - then the output control type must be set to "Relay"). Then the distance between the power supply and the main module is close (up to several meters) the E-lock can be powered using the power supply voltage of the module (twisted pair - UTP). For this purpose jumpers J2 and J3 should be inserted.

This type of connection is not recommended and depends on the type of E-lock used - use a separate wire for the E-lock if in case of improper operation of the system.

For proper video transmission (no interference or distortion), a UTP min. cat 5e is required. For connecting other signals, another type of front panel (such as a door entry system panel) can be used, while still using UTP min. cat 5e. The manufacturer guarantees correct operation of the system using UTP min. cat 5e. When using other types of cables, the user is required to test the correct operation of the system.

Connecting MOD-CAM-FAM camera (optional): the camera module to be connected to the CAM connector.

Module (15cm cable is included). In this case, MOD-SPK-PRO (G3) should be connected to the RJ45 connector with the power supply, or V+ and V- module terminals with V+ and V- IN power supply terminals. The module of a PAL external analogue camera (or MOD- CAM-COAX offered by aco) is connected to the CDNVS-60 combiner module in order to obtain the differential signal at the input of power supply: V+ and V- (Note! GND for camera power supply must be connected to GND of the door entry system).

Connect MOD-10NBP to the EXTMOD connector in the main module, and another MOD-10NBP to available EXTMOD connector in individual modules. MOD-10NBP modules are pre-programmed to addresses 1 to 10. To change the addresses (from 1 to 255), connect the module to the computer

(using CDN-USB) and use the FAM-P program, version 1.3 or higher.

The antenna of the proximity key fob reader is connected to the connector in the module marked "ANT".

When using an external microphone, disconnect the microphone mounted in the module: the "+MIC-" connector and replace it with the external microphone (proper polarity must be maintained).

Notes on line length:

1) The distance recommended for cat 5e can be extended it by increasing the cable cross-section (for instance cat 6e or by adding thicker cable for signals: Line, GND, +DC POWER). To connect the panel at a distance of more than 100m, use an additional power supply connected directly to the module.

2) A UTP cat 5e is required for proper video transmission, other types of cables may cause image interference

1)2)3) If other wires than those recommended are used for connection of the system, or distances are longer than those specified, installation is possible, but a test connection of the kit should be carried out and the correct functioning of the whole system should be checked. Avoid arranging wires (in particular Audio/Video signal wires) close to wires from other installations (power, telecommunication, alarm systems) as this may adversely affect the operation of the system.

Volume settings.

The call volume of the module is pre-set (according to fig. 4), users may change the volume when connected to the monitor in the following way:

- adjust the sensitivity of the panel microphone using the " MIC " potentiometer ,

- adjust the panel volume level using the " SPK " potentiometer. Fig. 4 Volume control potentiometers.

As these values are set, use the " BALANCE " potentiometer to determine the position of the excitation points (squeak) in the loudspeaker and set the potentiometer halfway between these points. The volume of sounds emitted by the module is set using the " BEEP " potentiometer.

Module installation.

Mount the module in the desired place (such as front panel with call buttons, letterbox, etc.) by sticking it with the double-sided tape provided in the set. It is important to note the holes of the loudspeaker and microphone in the mounting location: they must coincide with the holes in the module. If necessary, the module must be drilled in place of mounting. Ensure the correct mounting direction of the module: the loudspeaker must be at the top to maintain the best possible water tightness. Angles are also included in the kit, which can be used to press the module against the mounting surface.

Optional MOD-10NBP modules are mounted in close proximity to the main module.

The antenna of the proximity key fob reader should be mounted at a distance from the main module that is allowed by the cable included in the kid and in such a place that it is not obscured by the metal objects. The antenna can only read key fobs correctly through non-metallic materials (such as plastic) and should be mounted (built in) behind elements made of such materials. Before installing the antenna, verify the operation and range by trial and error. The range of the antenna is mainly effected by metal elements (also those in the vicinity) and the distance between the antenna to the proximity key fob.

The microphone is mounted as far away from the main module as the provided cable allows and as far away from the speaker as possible. It is absolutely necessary to keep the microphone tight between the mounting front (the rubber band included must be pressed firmly against the mounting front or the microphone must be otherwise isolated tightly from the main unit) - in case of a leak, feedback may occur in the audio track during conversation

(squeaking / buzzing).

The main module, the antenna and the microphone should be mounted in such a way that adverse weather conditions, especially water, have the least possible impact.
