Add to My manuals12 Pages
Graco 308257B STAINLESS STEEL, ONE QUART (ONE LITER) Air Regulated Pressure Cups are versatile tools designed for precise and efficient spraying of a wide range of fluids. Crafted from durable 304 stainless steel, these cups can withstand demanding industrial environments and are compatible with various solvents and coatings. Their compact size and lightweight construction make them easy to handle and maneuver, increasing productivity and reducing operator fatigue.
With a maximum working pressure of 20 psi (1.4 bar), these pressure cups deliver consistent and controlled fluid flow, ensuring optimal application results. The cups feature an adjustable cup regulator that allows you to fine-tune the air pressure for different spraying needs. The built-in air regulator provides precise control over the atomization of the fluid, resulting in a uniform and professional finish.

Setup
Install the Elbow Fitting and Tubing
NOTE: The One Quart Pressure Cup is not sold separately. The elbow fitting for the top of the cup is included with the Pressure Cup Air Regulator Assemblies.
Fill the Pressure Cup
1. Push the clamp lever (A) fully to the unclamped position, against the yoke (C). See Fig. 1.
1. Apply anaerobic pipe sealant to the tapered pipe threads of the elbow fitting, then install it wrench tight on the cup lid. See Fig. 2 and Fig. 3.
2. Twist the cup (D) counterclockwise to disengage the yoke hook from the cup extended pins (M).
2. Carefully cut the tubing (squarely) to the length desired. The recommended tubing length is 7 inches (179 mm). Keep the extra tubing for future replacement.
3. Remove the cup lid (B) and fill the cup with the fluid to be sprayed.
3. Push the tubing firmly into the appropriate fittings.
NOTE: To disconnect the tubing, push down on the fitting’s outer ring and pull on the tubing.
4. Twist the cup (D) clockwise to engage the yoke (C) hook, then push the clamp lever (A) fully to the clamped position. Use your thumbs to force the clamp lever into position; do not use wrenches or tools to move it.

Operation
WARNING
Never exceed 20 psi (1.4 bar) static air pressure to the cup. Exceeding the maximum working pressure of the cup or any other system component could cause component rupture, which could result in serious injury and property damage.

WARNING
Pressure Relief Procedure
To reduce the risk of serious injury, including splashing in the eyes or on the skin, always follow this procedure after you stop spraying, when checking or servicing any part of the spray system, before disconnecting the gun, air regulator, or pressure cup and before removing a pressure cup for refilling or cleaning.
1. Turn off the air and fluid supply to the gun.
2. Trigger the gun into a grounded metal waste container to relieve fluid pressure.
3. Pull the regulator pressure relief valve (11) cap out to relieve the cup pressure. See Fig. 4.
CAUTION
Do not rotate the pressure relief valve cap while pulling it out to relieve pressure. Rotating the pressure relief valve cap out of its original position may create excessive air leakage. If air leakage occurs, rotate the cap until the relief valve seats properly. If the original sealing position cannot be found, leave the cap undisturbed for a minimum of 12 hours to allow the PTFE seat to create a new seal.
Setting the Cup Air Pressure
1. Pull up the cup regulator adjustment knob lock-ring
(L); this allows the knob (K) to turn. See Fig. 4.
2. Set the cup pressure at zero by turning the adjustment knob (K) fully counterclockwise.
3. Slowly turn the adjustment knob (K) clockwise to increase the air pressure to the cup.
4. Push the adjustment knob lock-ring (L) down to hold the cup pressure setting.
Fig. 4
Setting the Gun Air Pressure
Set the gun air pressure regulator for the pressure needed to atomize your fluid. See your gun manual for recommended settings.
Spraying Tips
The regulator is not self relieving so if the regulated air pressure setting is causing excessive fluid flow , follow these steps.
1. Pull up the cup regulator adjustment knob lock-ring
(L). See Fig. 4.
2. Turn the adjustment knob (K) counterclockwise.
3. Pull out the regulator relief valve cap (11) until the gauge pressure is below the desired cup pressure setting. Do not rotate the pressure relief valve cap while pulling it out.
4. Turn the adjustment knob (K) clockwise until you obtain the desired pressure setting.
5. Push down the adjustment knob lock-ring (L).
CAUTION
Do not restrict the fluid flow by continuously spraying with the gun’s fluid adjusting knob turned in
(clockwise) as this will cause excessive wear on the fluid needle and trigger/air valve shaft.
To restrict the fluid flow, lower the cup pressure or use a smaller size needle/nozzle set and air cap combination.
If the cup pressure must be below 1.0 psi (0.07 bar) to achieve the desired fluid flow, a smaller needle/nozzle size is recommended.
Optional Gun Air Regulator 235–119
NOTE: See Accessories for parts.
Operation
1. Pull up the gun regulator adjustment knob lock-ring
(L); this allows the knob to turn. See Fig. 5.
2. Set the gun air pressure at zero by turning the regulator adjustment knob (K) fully counterclockwise.
3. Turn on the air supply to the gun.
4. Turn the regulator adjustment knob (K) clockwise to increase the air pressure to the gun.
WARNING
Never exceed 100 psi (7 bar) Maximum Working
Air Pressure to the gun. Exceeding the maximum working pressure of the gun or any other system component could cause component rupture, which could result in serious injury and property damage.
Fig. 5
5. Push the adjustment knob lock-ring (L) down to hold the pressure setting.

Maintenance
Disconnect the Gun and Air Regulator from the Cup
1. Follow the Pressure Relief Procedure Warning on page 6.
4. If any fluid is in the lid elbow fitting (8) or air inlet tube (3), flush them with solvent but do not soak them in solvent for an extended period. Replace the tubing or elbow if necessary; see Parts to order.
2. Push down on the cup-mounted elbow fitting’s outer ring to disengage the tube grip, then pull the tubing out of the fitting.
CAUTION
When cleaning the pressure cup lid, avoid prolonged exposure of the gasket (101) to solvent as this will cause it to swell.
3. Holding a wrench on the gun fluid inlet fitting, disconnect the pressure cup swivel nut fitting.
NOTE: See Accessories to order the gasket.
4. Disconnect the gun air inlet fitting from the regulator.
5. Clean the gun as instructed in the gun manual.

CAUTION
Do not clean these air regulators in a gun washer as it will damage the regulator’s diaphragm. Do not use any cleaning method that allows solvent to enter the regulator internally.

Remove the Cup Lid
1. Push the clamp lever (A) fully to the unclamped position, against the yoke (C). See Fig. 6.
2. Twist the cup (102) counterclockwise to disengage the yoke hook from the cup extended pins (M).
3. Remove the cup lid (B) and clean the lid and the cup (102).
