Network Mode 2
2.1
General
The Network mode simplifies the set-up and maintenance of Telway and Mapway networks and of the Uni-Telway bus and any stations or devices connected to them.
2.1-1 Using the Cartridge with a Telway Network
The Network mode enables logical connection of the TSX T407 terminal to any
TSX or PMX 47/67/87/107 PLC. Connection is made remotely via a Telway network. Once connection is established, all of the operating modes of the cartridge can be accessed via the terminal. This mode also enables Telway network diagnostics.
2.1-2 Using the Cartridge with a Uni-Telway Bus
In Network mode, the TSX T407 terminal that is physically connected to a PLC can be used to:
• Identify the TSX SCM 21.6 or TSX SCG 116 Uni-Telway modules or the SCI data link present in the PLC configuration,
• Access and modify the configuration of the installed modules,
• Perform data link diagnostics: to access and reset the transmission error counters of these modules.
PLCs concerned:
• TSX 17-20 and TSX 47 .. programmed in PL7-2 language,
• TSX or PMX 47/67/87/107 programmed in PL7-3 language
If the terminal is connected to the PLC that comprises the Uni-Telway Bus Master module, the cartridge can also be used to:
• Display a list of stations declared on the Uni-Telway bus,
• Effect logical connection to each Slave station on the bus, in order to:
- Identify the type of device connected at this address,
- Perform data link diagnostics from this address.
If the Slave device that is logically connected to the Uni-Telway bus is a
TSX or PMX PLC, all TSX TS4 31 cartridge operating modes can be remotely accessed by the terminal.
13
2.1-3 Using the Cartridge with a Mapway Network
The Network mode enables logical connection of the TSX T407 terminal to any station on the network. Connection is made remotely via the Mapway network.
If the station is a Mapway compatible PLC (TSX or PMX 47-40/67-40/87-40/107-
40), all cartridge operating modes can then be accessed by the terminal. This mode also enables Mapway network diagnostics.
2.1-4 Accessing the Network Mode

4800/9600/19200 bauds are the different options that can be selected by repeated pressure on this key. The requested speed and the actual speed are displayed on the second display line (first value displayed from left).
[CNX] establishes the connection between the Terminal and the PLC at 300 Baud before raising the speed until the requested value is reached. If communication cannot be established at the requested speed, the actual speed displayed will be the highest speed at which communication is reliable and lower than the requested speed. While communication is being established, the message:
TSX: NOT CONNECTED is displayed on the fifth display line. Once connection is established, the message:
TSX 47-20: CONNECTED for example, would be displayed if a TSX 47-20 PLC was connected.

Sending a Message
Once a clear screen is displayed, use the alphanumeric keyboard to enter the message to send to the PLC. A message is limited to one screen line, a total of 24 ASCII characters. Messages that are longer than 24 characters are split into more than one 24 character message.
When the message is sent to the PLC (by pressing <ENT>), the PLC must be ready to receive a message and running a program that contains a Text block configured in reception. The message is read asynchronously during program execution.
Receiving a Message
The terminal can also display a message sent by the PLC, to display a value or a preset, etc. The user program sends the message using a
Text block configured for transmission.
