Quick Installation Guide

Designed to make the device setup procedure easier:

STEP 1

Remove the digital video camcorder and the alkaline battery pack from the packaging.

STEP 2

Slide open the battery cover, place three AAA batteries, and close the cover firmly.

STEP 3

Open the SD memory card protection cover and insert the SD memory card properly. And then close the memory card slot cover.

STEP 4

Hold the camcorder with the right hand, and lift up and rotate the

LCD display with the other hand. The unit will boot up to the video recording mode automatically.

STEP 5

Press the Menu button to enter the camcorder preference setting pages. Select settings based on your later recording requirements.

Press Menu button again to exit the setup pages.

STEP 6

Before shooting please check battery and SD memory card indicator again, to ensure the camcorder is in perfect condition.

STEP 7

Press the red shutter button to start shooting. The shooting time will display on the upper right corner of the LCD display. Press the shutter again to finish this shooting.

STEP 8

Use the button to enter playback mode and check the recording.

STEP 9

The camcorder also supports still photo shooting and audio recording. Press M button to switch among video recording, photo shooting, audio recording, and playback modes.

STEP 10

Rotate and close the LCD display to turn off the camcorder.

Note: We do recommend using alkaline or Ni-MH battery for power supply. Please NEVER use different types of batteries or mix-use old and new batteries

1. Overview

Thank you very much for choosing this digital product. Before using the same, please peruse this manual carefully. This unit can not only be used to shoot photos and videos, but also be provided with built-in PC camera functions. For the external SD or MMC cards (32 MB - 8GB), the only thing you need to do is to connect the unit to the computer with USB line and an icon for removable disk will appear on the screen; then, you can copy the photos to the computer directly. If you use the built-in PC camera functions, you can carry out on-line video chatting with others through the

Internet.

2. Regular cautions

(1)Before taking important photos (such as wedding ceremony or vacation), please make trial for several times to ensure that the camera is in perfect conditions. Westwell shall assume no responsibility for any extra loss due to the obstacles of this product

(such as any loss as a result of lost pictures).

(2)Never use batteries not complying with the provisions in this manual for such use may lead to explosion or leakage of batteries, cause fire, personal injury or defile the battery cabin. When installing the batteries, please pay attention to the poles (+/-) to ensure the correct installation. If the unit is not used for long, please take out the batteries; otherwise, it may lead to explosion or leakage of batteries, cause fire, personal injury or defile the battery cabin. In case of leakage of liquid, please carefully clean the cabin then install the new batteries. If you have touched the leaked liquid, please carefully clean you hands.

(3)If NAND FLASH SD or MMC cards are used to store the photos, the photos will not be lost if batteries are replaced when the unit is in normal power off condition.

(4)Never touch the lens to avoid blur pictures or obstacles of the camera.

(5)Never modify this camera in any way; otherwise, fire, electric shock, serious bodily injury or damage to the camera may occur.

(6)When using this unit, keep away from gas subject to burning or explosion to avoid possible explosion.

(7)In case that liquid or foreign matter of any form comes into the camera, do not use the unit. At this time, please turn the off the unit first then disconnect the power.

(8)When using the flashlight, please keep away from person or animal; otherwise, the same may damage the eyesight.

(9)Never place the camera in places subject to high temperature

(such as closed vehicles or place exposed to direct sunshine) or significant temperature difference. High or low temperature is harmful to the internal components of the unit and may lead to fire.

(10)When using the unit in low temperature, the following situations may occur, which are not the obstacles of the unit and the performance may resume to normal usually under normal temperature

● It takes long to turn on the LCD and the color may be different from the object to be shot.

● Photogene may appear on LCD if the object to be shot is changed.

Press to enter system setup pages.

Use ▲/▼ key to switch the submenus,and press Ok to enter a submenu .

Switch operating mode from video recording ,to photo shooting ,to audio recording ,and to playback mode ,circuarly.

13.SD Card Slot

Install SD memory card (sold separately )

6. Basic functions

(1) Video recording

Upon installing the batteries and open the LCD display, the power indicating light will be on and the turning on image appears on LCD, the system enters video recording mode as shown in the following sketch:

Caution:

the interface of time setting will appear at the first time of start-up, and you may enter into the photography mode after setting time or pressing

OK key or menu key. (Time shall be set again after replacing battery)

Press key to take video and the shooting time is displayed on the upper right corner of LCD. During the process, press key to stop shooting video.

Press key to preview the recording .

Press ▲ key to select preferred movie size ,such as HD,720,640 and 320.

Under video shooting mode, press MODE key the unit will enter the photo shooting mode as shown in the following sketch:

(3) Audio recording

Under video mode, pressing MODE key twice and the unit enter the audio recording mode, as shown in the following sketch:

The total number of photos may be taken and stored in the external SD memory card is shown on the up right corner of the

LCD display.

Pressing key and a click sound from the camera will be given; a photo is taken and the number on the up right corner will be reduced by one.

Press key to preview the photos.

Press ▲ key to switch among self-shooting in 2, 10 seconds and 3 burst

Press ▼ key to change the exposure mode in range of -2.0 to +2.0

Note:

Press the DISP key once to switch off the display information, press the key twice to turn of the LCD display; then press again to resume the normal OSD display.

When the SD memory card is full, the unit cannot take further recordings or photos and notification, ‘insufficient memory’, will be displayed on the screen. You may need to change new memory card.

In this mode, click key to start the audio recording; and the recording time is shown on the LCD.

Press ▲ key to pause the running audio recording; Press the key again to continue.Click key again, audio recording will be stopped

(2) Photo shooting mode

Under video shooting mode, press MODE key the unit will enter the photo shooting mode as shown in the following sketch:

(3) Audio recording

Under video mode, pressing MODE key twice and the unit enter the audio recording mode, as shown in the following sketch:

The total number of photos may be taken and stored in the external SD memory card is shown on the up right corner of the

LCD display.

Pressing key and a click sound from the camera will be given; a photo is taken and the number on the up right corner will be reduced by one.

Press key to preview the photos.

Press ▲ key to switch among self-shooting in 2, 10 seconds and 3 burst

Press ▼ key to change the exposure mode in range of -2.0 to +2.0

Note:

Press the DISP key once to switch off the display information, press the key twice to turn of the LCD display; then press again to resume the normal OSD display.

When the SD memory card is full, the unit cannot take further recordings or photos and notification, ‘insufficient memory’, will be displayed on the screen. You may need to change new memory card.

(4) Playback

Under video recording mode, pressing MODE key for three times, the unit enters playback mode, as shown in the following sketch:

Press ▲/▼ key to select the previous or next media file. Note that all files, such as video, photo, and audio files, are stored sequentially.

Press DISP key to enter the thumbnail mode. Use T/W key to move up and down, and use ▲/▼ to move left and right. Then press OK key to go back to full screen mode and press OK key again to play a video/audio recording.

(5) Digital zooming

In shooting mode, pressing “T” key, the object may be amplified to

1 to 4; press “W” key and the object may be zoomed out from 4 to

1. 

(6) Self-shooting and consecutive shooting

In photo shooting mode, press ▲key once to enter 2s self shooting ; pressing the same key twice, it enters 10s self-shooting

----; press for the third time, it enters burst ------, and for the fourth time, it returns to single shooting mode.

(7) Flashlight

When press flashlight key in photo shooting mode, the camera will enter the compulsory flash mode . In this mode, the flashlight may need being charged and LCD screen would be turned off for a while. The system indicator keeps flickering till the charging is finished. Then the LCD screen will be normal.

Pressing the key twice, and the camera will exit from flashing mode .

(8) Removable disk

Starting the computer and using USB line to connect the camera and the computer; pressing the power key and at this time, the power indicating light will be on and MSDC shown on LCD , the unit works with the Removable disk (the USB mode shall be set to

MSDC mode in system setup).

(4) Playback

Under video recording mode, pressing MODE key for three times, the unit enters playback mode, as shown in the following sketch:

Press ▲/▼ key to select the previous or next media file. Note that all files, such as video, photo, and audio files, are stored sequentially.

Press DISP key to enter the thumbnail mode. Use T/W key to move up and down, and use ▲/▼ to move left and right. Then press OK key to go back to full screen mode and press OK key again to play a video/audio recording.

(5) Digital zooming

In shooting mode, pressing “T” key, the object may be amplified to

(7) Flashlight

(8) Removable disk

Starting the computer and using USB line to connect the camera and the computer; pressing the power key and at this time, the power indicating light will be on and MSDC shown on LCD , the unit works with the Removable disk (the USB mode shall be set to
